You can see in Duncan’s eyes he has respect for these lads, as they’re on the journey he went on himself. I’m going through a journey like that myself at the moment too, 15 years ago I was earning £10,000 a year in full time work in Stoke. Now I’m 3 months into my own business and I’ve cleared AU$55k in profit whilst living in Australia. It takes balls to work for yourself and the risk can be massive. Big respect to these lads.

Deal with Duncan went through, but he retired as director in 2011. Original business dissolved in 2012, but under a new name they now have offices in London and Manchester.
Straight honest and professional pitch from two hardworking and ambitious people with a good business plan.
Tony was in and out of foster homes from a young age and was in the back of police cars. He’s turned it around with a successful company.

The company became part of UK Commercial Group Ltd, a national facilities management company with many national services, turning over just shy of £6million, well done.

I think it was obvious to anyone that these lads were credible. The reason the others weren't interested was perhaps snobbery.
Duncan came from similar background as these guys. He saw something in them, that he had in hisself in his younger years.

@rory clynes yes it's true. He was worth £ 430m before the divorce and after the divorce was said and done his net worth fell to £ 85m, so his wife took £ 345m. I still don't understand how that was fair..but I guess she really was the golddigger he called her out to be. Anyways, he's a businessman through and through and has built his empire up again, adding another £ 200m to his net worth over the last 8 or 9 years.

The Dragons' have invested in so many crappy business deals before and yet when everything is all lined up and straightforward you get this. These guys deserved better IMO. James Caan's offer would have given him enough control over the business where he would have a conflict of interest in "spiking the ball" on the early financial target years so that he'd never have to part with his initial 50 percent. Accordingly, his conditional refund of 15% is worth zero. Duncan's offer was not only better, but also more honest. Shame on you, James!
