    Watching you break camp, I do not think people who do not do this understand the pace of mornings. Paddle hard, body is sore each morning, but stronger. The days become simple , wake up, break camp, fall into a set of divided chores with no communication......love watching it. Hope to run into you guys.

    Greetings from Norway. Another epic episode guys!
    Looking back +40 years, there is but a few moments were I truly felt like being «in the moment». Those moments are connected to family, nature and martial art. I believe it's a vital, but somewhat a lost trade in a modern society, a society that seems to rather «entertain» the mind with no or little effort.
    Mother nature often have those slow moments, almost emptiness/nothingness. Those moments are hard to grasp, but also what the mind really needs, and is «coded» in our brain. Humans has steered into a campfire for thousands of years, finding that inner peace. At the same time nature «forces» you to stay focused and sometimes tangle your fear. Those are the moments nothing else exists, like scouting and paddling rapids, catching fish and bushwhacking in bear territory.
    The question I get the most is what do you bring back, what are the experiences you gain that you can use in daily life? What do you guys think?

    • @JimBairdAdventurer
      @JimBairdAdventurer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I agree, I think these trips breed a lot of confidence, they also teach you how to organize plan things which can spin off onto many other usable applications in our modern lives. Through the trips there’s a lot you learn about things such as geology, elevation and hydrology, history, including that of indigenous people which is all fascinating. You’re learning a sport too and bettering yourself at it.

    Loved the first 5 mins of this! Literally 5 mins of some guys looking pretty beaten getting water, making coffee, etc. 4 shots, just to carry water! Serious effort. Can't believe there's so little left, looking forward to your next series already, hope you've got something good on the way! Ted, you've fallen behind with the series, get with the programme pal!!

    • @JimBairdAdventurer
      @JimBairdAdventurer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ted has but he’s been shooting some other cool stuff too. Glad you’re liking it! Maybe overkill on the water getting haha. I’m glad you liked that at camp part anyways though. Next I’m going to run some winter camping stuff and then onto spring backcountry trout fishing, white water canoe trip, big family canoe trip and a big solo one in a dry remote wilderness area

    • @CampWithMatt
      @CampWithMatt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JimBairdAdventurer That totally wasn't sarcasm on the "getting water" - I was literally counting, that's 4 shots to collect water, that's some serious effort you're putting into your craft! With the amount of content you're generating, and it's totally fine to have some moments like this showing normal camp routine. I've watched the whole series so far, it's a full on adventure and loving it. You've inspired me to attempt something similar myself later on this year (just a multi-day canoe trip - minimal white water) in Wabakimi. I watch all of Ted's output too - all cool

    This is taken from Wikipedia... The river flows through a mix of boreal forests at the southernmost edge of Canada's tundra. Because it travels through this transition zone, the river travels through dense forests, as well as portions of the barren and rocky subarctic wilderness. The course of the river is inconsistent and very dangerous to navigate. The river has no human uses, except for the very few skilled travelers on rafts or canoes who brave the treacherous waters each year...... You guys are bad ass.... i was on the edge of my seat....Thanks so much for your time and effort to produce such an incredible video and series...

    • @JimBairdAdventurer
      @JimBairdAdventurer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a great write up, gives me goose bumps and I’ve already been there. It is certainly extremely wild and advanced in the consistent whitewater it throws at you. Particularly because of the massive size and volume of the river and the sorrow dung lands canoe is that of a wild place few ever see.

    Beautiful beginning with the Bald Eagle. Beautiful white flowers. The Garmen 66i, great to have. That was so sweat, "you rock my world". I loved the Seal, he normally not around rapids. Maybe, he's following you to go back to the ocean? Glad you & Ted made it safely through the rapids. Neat how Ted was so close to that Eagle. Looked like a nice place to camp scenic wise. Have a good week.

    Talk about a nail bitter 😲 and motion sickness in one video this did it for me 😊. I did one day white water rapid with a great group of friends I worked with at the hospital on the Deschutes River in Oregon. Thank goodness we had 3 doctors on our boat as I got a ore to the head and they sutured me up with my own hair as it was a scalp wound laid open. I rode out the rest of the trip that day as it took everyone doing there part to handle the path ahead that ended up with many...... unknowns. Our guide was a college student with brief experience, mostly as paddler along for the rapid thrills. We found out as the day progressed he was covering the job for his buddy that was hung over badly from the night before. His job was the bus driver getting folks to and from the shuttles. He had rode these rapids several times but never as a a guide or took any classes to become skilled as his buddy was. We also had a much needed rain/storm 4 days before the planned day trip so water was running higher than normal. Our new to the day was given a crash course from couple of the other friends that were guides. They didn't want there buddy to lose his job as the tourist season just started. Lucky for us we had a coworker a Respiratory Therapist on our raft that was skilled in white water rafting and outdoor survival, he lived for his days off to go on some epic adventures besides white water kayaking, cliff climbing and long back pack trails through the mountains with his friends. Probably why he was single, lol. He was one unique person,. Anyways we were to far down in the canyon by then with no turn outs for 10 miles. It was a 30 mile run with us being at the point of no return mile 13. I was never so glad to stand on dry ground only to hike a mile out to get to the bus that took us back to base as through the other events our guide missed the 1st pull out. Next year when the great new event came for sign up by our Respiratory Therapist friend no of us on that raft returned. Lol I don't know why as we were seasoned rafters now!! 🚣 I was 38 years younger then 👵🏼
