How to play DayZ in Single Player - Easy Guide

- #dayz is known for being a multiplayer game and has no official single player mode. However I've created this really simple howto guide should you want to play in single player mode while you learn to play the game.

@@sirsancti5504If it were that simple then people wouldn’t be looking to start solo servers to begin with mate 😂 People can join servers at anytime wise guy. Just because it’s empty when YOU join, doesn’t mean it’ll stay that way.

@@bercor4948Yes it did work. I followed everything he did in the video and it worked great! I just got the game on sale. Played for a bit and Died within 3 hours from an infection but couldn’t find hardly anything except some guns so I want to do the same as op and play solo to get the hang of things.

Running your own server offline has been a feature of Operation Flashpoint, Operation Flashpoint Resistance, Arma, Arma 2 and Arma 3 since their inception. DayZ, has the same pedigree...
People just need to understand that there is no real difference between a scripted on-rails story campaign and a single player server instance run offline on your computer. In DCS (a combat flight simulator - or cockpit simulator) you can basically run any multiplayer mission solo by starting your own private server without being connected to the internet.
This guide shows you how to do that.

I really enjoyed this. I heard there were a lot of hackers in the current age of the game and I was browsing to see if I could try to enjoy the game as a newbie without being pushed away by those claims. Thank you!
tbh I haven't seen that many hackers myself . plus there are a lot of PVE /white listed servers that don't have an issue. That said it I do just like exploring on my own and trying stuff out with out any out side

In laymans terms Yeah only you can see it you're not sharing it to the internet .

Crazy how we have to do this to have a single player experience lol. Imagine what bohemia could do with a single player story/missions/experience.
I would even settle for a single player option with a simple introduction and a simple end game goal...
It is also crazy that you might spend $40 on DayZ just for what is essentially one experience/gamemode.
@@SerratedPVP Not really, the world is full of assholes and some of us just choose not to play in that "experience/gamemode". If we can't get our way then we move along, but never towards compromise...
It always amuses me when someone gets even slightly irritated at people manipulating multiplayer games into single player games. It really makes a person go "hmmmmm".. lol

Do i need to keep the sever running or can i close it after "joining" the game?
Is there progression save or you have to start with a fresh character everytime you launch the server ? And is it compatible with mods like AI soldiers ennemies ?

Thank you. This seems to be the only way to avoid dishonest cheater and hacker bullies from stealing and destroying hard fought gains. Nothing worse than finding some decent vehicles, gathering up the needed parts and muling them together only to have some cheater asshole steal it while I am asleep. Will definitely give this a try.

TBH I've no idea right now , I've only just started getting into messing around with mods...something for the future I reckon
Hopefully u maybe able to make suchs a tutorial in the near future because i myself do have a need for visual aid to be able to get it to work bud thats maybe just my also i thought u needed to do more to have a singleplayer server that also saves progres when u shut it down and start it up again bud of thats not an iseu anymore that whould be cool to

1) If I build a base and log off, will it still be there tomorrow when I return?
2) I saw the next video, setting up a server for LIVONIA DLC, and I got the feeling you're basically swapping one map for the other, that you probably could NOT keep both active AT THE SAME TIME. Is this true? I mean, can I have differenet personal servers for all DLC maps?

Yes and yes,although I'm just guessing about the bases bit. I never billd them ever as its a bit too bourgeois for me.But as seeing as my gear always remains after a log out I'm assuming the bases will stay. Remember this like every other server.it's just hosted locally. you can have different servers set up and ready to go on your pc too

Quick question. If I have a character going on chernarus and I change the map to livonia, will that same character load in to livonia?
I know it happens normally with official servers so just wondering if the same happens on this “private/solo” servers as well

Might have to buy Dayz and give this a try. I tried the Arma 2 version way back in the FrankieonPC days but as much as i enjoyed gearing up and surviving i hated getting geiefed by other players haha
Tbh honest I tend to use single player to test stuff and learn some tecniques ....the real magic is in the interactions with people .For a more insteresting single player vibe I reckon Scum is maybe a little better.

Your description of how to get this working is the same as all the other recent tutorials, so I know this is the latest method of getting it to work.. But, while I tried this and it works for the most part, I can't eat or use any weapons. I can bandage myself after getting hurt, but I can't fight back or eat. The button just doesn't work when I have a weapon or food equipped. I even tried remapping it, but no joy.. I tried a public server and I can fight and eat just fine. This is a brand new install for me, I haven't played DayZ at all before today. Some people on steam are telling me I need a batch file with some other script added.. I don't have a .bat file anywhere. It makes no sense that I can't eat or fight.. Any suggestions?

yeah it'll have zombies and wotnot . I assume you could allow your friends to join you as the launcher is similar to bi's arma3 launcher. Never tried it myself as none of my friends play dayz

Sorry there's no guarantee you won't be embarrassing yourself at some point in single player. I'm constantly doing dumb stuff myself.

is this single player server modable?
hey uhm.. my day & Night cycle is set to x64 on the server .. but in the Server file its set to x12 and x1 and no matter if i change it in the serverDZ file it doesnt change from x64 .. and the day and night go by within like 10 minutes ... is there a way to fix this or to make day& night longer?

I watched some other guy that needed to do some extra work in the server file to be able to save it dont know the vids name anymore bud that same dude also has a vid on how to add a mod or mod tool wichs i never got to work by the way bud stil
I would also like to know this, would be cool to just leave the game after 2 hours of building a base and then come back the next day to continue building, exploring, etc
@@TheAnalyticalMindChannel yah well i came up with a temporary solution for this which is playing on a pve server. you can also meet some people while exploring or trying out a base in peace.
@@sofieneelphil4407 I actually tested out the method here in the video, just to see if there is a save and, for now, there actually is. All of my data was saved, location, loot, health all the pijamas

There is no "Local Files" when I click on Properties.
Edit: Okay, it seems the new version doesn't require a "Local Files" section, you just simply go to your cfg file for the server, make the changes to it and save. Then DayZ will use that cfg file when running a local server. My new question is how to add mods to this local server.

you don't lose anything when you log off you only start fresh everytime you die .
my server is not showing up under the LAN tab. i get the message (Cannot retrieve the lan server list. Check your internet connection.) does anybody have a solution?

so i followed to the letter and my lan server list is empty. says "Steam is offline or not running." Ive checked my firewall though i doubt that would have been in anyways. any ideas?
This a very straight to the point video. Thank you for that. I was wondering if someone could help with an issue I'm having. I can't see my server under the LAN tab. The server does say "Entering IN - save processed". The LAN tab say this "cannot retrieve the lan server list. Check your connection".
I do have all mods disabled, I have restarted my PC a few. I can join other online servers. I have no firewall rules setup for dayz (I've even disabled the firewall for testing). The only 2 thing I changed in the config are the server name and how many people.

Have you tried to put that "-config=serverDZ.cfg" in DayZ's launch option too?
