How To Do A Soft Wipe On Your DayZ Server That Deletes All Except Player Inventory, For 1.23 Update

In this beginners guide tutorial video I show you how to do a "soft wipe" on your DayZ Community Server for PC, PlayStation & Xbox Consoles.
You may want to do this partial wipe with the DayZ Update Patch 1.23 because many of the buildings will be removed from the NWAF North West Airfield, meaning that various loot, gear and items will be left suspended in mid-air!
This method also allows you to delete all the vehicles from your server and reset them to vanilla default positions.
Please note though that all player built structures and bases will also be gone, along with any underground caches or hidey-holes!
To do a partial wipe that removes all loot from the CLE, but players keep what's in their inventory, we're going to be editing our economy.xml file, and changing the dynamic & vehicles lines.

Hi! Thank you so much for your videos on DayZ, I just bought my own server and had no idea how much there was to change! Could you please explain in a video how to write JSON files to spawn pre-built loot areas/raid-able admin bases or something. I have another server that have a pre built loot area within Radio Zenit, and I want to do something similar. Thanks!

Question: Line 9 says "building". That's for bases and player built structures, right? "Dynamic" is only the loot that spawns on the ground, correct?
Is there a time frame for how long loot should spawn back in?
Don’t we have to change the map group pos and map group proto??
a full wipe would despawn everything as well correct?
If your on a custom map does it not matter as much then?
what if you put load=1 for all those bits?
I play with some friends on Xbox on a server rented from Nitrado, does anyone know of an app or website that helps configure the server? And is there a way to use commands to spawn items on the Xbox?
No commands option but you use nitrado app or web page to code everything
So, barring that the 1.23 update has already been out for quite some time, I have my own private sever with custom xml and json files in it. Does this method work for just casually resetting the loot and vehicles on the map? while also respawning everything within the perimeters of the custom files? or does it force everything to respawn as true true vanilla and I have to reinstall my files?
it doesnt touch your custom files, so once you do it, it will respawn the loot economy as per your types etc, which will not be restored to vanilla with this method

Iv done the soft reset for dynamic twice. Both times I waited over 15mins and loot is still spawning in the air😢 what can I do to fix this. I'm on xbox

If i do this will it add the new 1.25 rifle? Or do i still have to add manually?
For the new rifle on console you dont need to worrry about adding it yourself, the game does it for you! You are just reseting the loot
How do you wipe characters? Do you use the load value same as vehicles and dynamic? I’ve tried it and it did not wipe characters

I've done this twice now and the loot at the airfield are up in the air and nothing spawning in the new buildings. Ps5. Server reset 3 days ago.
Maybe time for a full wipe?
Just to be clear....does dynamic clear everyones bases too? You keep throwing the word 'buildings' in there when you are talking about that so it's really unclear. I was hoping to keep everyones bases but is that not possible? On Livonia btw, so would it even be really necessary to wipe loot or is it more for Cherno?

@@welshrune7264 There wasn't, but i found out myselft that yes...dynamic wipes loot and also bases/placeables ;) As far as having to wipe on Livonia, i've no clue. I didn't and things seemed ok for a while but i'm starting to see issues. Might be unrelated to the update though, it's hard to tell.

I've tried following this video and I still have loot floating around the airfield. What could I have done wrong?

Yep, it initially seemed to work, went back and looked about 12 hours later and a whole bunch of stuff was floating again, and the merlin on the other side of the airstrip was on its side again.
will the loot just despawn eventually?? whatever’s left over if i don’t do a wipe
Loot will be removed if it's ruined or it's lifetime expires (see types.xml for lifetime per item). So if airborne loot on NWAF is the only drawback of not wiping, i'll take it. I'm planning on doing some targetpractice on loot in the sky. 🤟
I did this but the player built buildings were still there when i restarted the server after 10-15 minutes with dynamic set to load="0" this is why i dislike soft wipes
Yo, my friend ..I am trying to wipe loot but KEEP my players buildings. What did you do , during your wipe to keep the Player Bases?
(my player built base will despawn due to inactivity, SO I want to reward my loyal players by keeping their hard earned bases through loot wipes)

changing load to =0 didnt (immediatly) get rid of all the loot for me.

I'll give that a shot. Tried exactly like in video. It looked good at first, but ultimately loot started spawning in the air again.
So question. I planned on hard wiping. So i know get everything i need to use and its all fresh no if i download my types file i have now and hard wipe to get 1.23 and reupload my my old types file will it just mesh together or and i better off just redoing my 1.23 types file
No, you will need the new Types File. The 1.23 update will introduce new guns, hats, a field shovel and who knows how many other little items that will all be listed in the new Types file but not the old 1.22 file. This is the hardest part of being admin on a community server after every wipe you’ll need to go through again and re-edit values for what and how much spawns on your server. 😢

ive done that and now my map seems broken lol. i load into the game and i cant move at all or look left or right, cant see the map and shows as if i was in a car.. help please?
