Although DayZ Offline Mode is a simpler way of getting DayZ running on a local machine, it has certain compromises such as being unable to save your progress.
If you want a true DayZ server experience - for single player fun or testing and experimentation with mods - then installing a local server on your PC or Laptop is the way to go.

@@danx2793 are you removing all the extra stuff from files? some people leave notes within them that have to be deleted

Very informative video and very well spoken. Your video possibly saved me HOURS of troubleshooting regarding the "profiles" part of your video. I could not figure out where the profiles folder was located for a local server setup and every video or website I found didn't provide the syntax you provided. Thank you soo much! For this video and the how to install CF & COT on local server video. I've been struggling to set this up for over 2 weeks now. Every video explains something different and this is the only video that explains step-by-step what to do.
A better way to access the Steam Games local files is to right click the game in your steam library ('DayZ Server' in this case) hover over 'manage' and click 'Browse Local Files' this will take you directly to where ever the specific Games/Tools Installed files.
I only suggest this because when I do any tutorial video in regards to navigating your way to the Steam Library I often get many comments saying 'Cant find steam folder', 'Can't find 'common' folder', 'Found steam folder but my game is not here'.
Great video also! I can now learn how to survive in general and understanding the game better without being shot in the back every few minutes :P
This was a PERFECT tutorial my friend. Other articles breezed over too much for "beginner guides" imo. I've never modded a game before, aside from Sims (i think that was most's first).

Thanks again Rob for your videos. I been subscribed few years now had servers and stopped them but never used this till now since I am more interested in doing things how I want them then later make them mods or whatever. This made it easy even for someone who has a lot of server side experience.

I SOOOOOOOOOOOO appreciate your efforts with this video. I live in a world with very limited bandwidth and slow internet speed in general and this has allowed me to enjoy one of my most favorite games THANK YOU! I have been working on loading mods into this configuration (Zomberry specifically) and try as I might I am still flumuxed (old dude gamer) with the locations of the .json files etc. Any added instruction would be a blessing!

Thank you dude. I brought DayZ after hearing about the offline mod and thought that I had wasted my money when I found out that it doesn't save progress. I really don't have the time anymore to build up in an online game so this is perfect.

ANYONE!! who is trying to do this right now after updates you need to know that serverDZ.cfg is already downloaded with the steam server downloads just need to go in and edit it with note++ do not copy and paste the serverDZ.cfg from the web page just edit the one already on the game file!!!! if you dont you will just run into countless errors trying find dayz exe. but the rest of the video with "start.bat" is all correct fix all that awesome vid thanks alot!!!
I noticed that and saw that both files are the same as far as I can tell. So does it matter which one you edit if as long as you have one?

Now, I am still lost as far as being able to customize loaded loot at startup. Do you have any video on how to create a mission set of files so I can configure my character and environment for this?

I'm wanting to set this up so the game starts and the character has specific items. All the instructions I see mention simply adding the items via the Server Console. But I can't seem to find out how to get the console up

Thanks. this is even easier now since the files are included in the download. The start bat file only needs to be configured and renamed and the config file only needs to be... well configured.
I used this to get used to the game and learn the mechanics before jumping into pvp

Great video. Does this client or batch saves the progress automatically or do I need to do something manually to save the progress? Also, once the progress is saved, how do I start the server again? Wouldn't the start.bat file start a fresh server with the progress erased?

if you watching this is 2024 just know the cfg file is now already created when downloaded. if you don't want mods you can now just start the server and it'll work.
Do we put a space between the ; and @ for the MODs?
When I try to start it, it says that the path cannot be found, is this because my Dayz is on an SSD, and my Dayz Server is installed on a separate HDD?

I did what you said and the server wouldnt start, kept getting a PID(different each time). And it kept trying to start and wouldnt stop. I dont know if theres a update thats the problem.

Hey really cool tutorial!! I'm testing some mods etc like @basebuildingdplus. But I noticed that it doesn't save your progress like anything you build in game after you take a break and restart the game/server. Is this normal? And is there a way to prevent this from happening? Thanks:)

Each time I try to load in after implementing the CF mods It will say data verification error, idk how to fix this.
Adding a dash instead of leaving the space in the batch file gives you an error "the client has a mod that is not on the server". Remove the dash and leave a space and it works good.
How do we add a second local test server for different maps like Livonia?
