Bravo!! Props to your support of the 928! As far as maintenance, if these cars are maintained you can easily get over 300,000 miles. I have 200,000+ on mine and it’s been meticulously maintained for the entire 27 years I’ve owned it! I know the car inside and out and it still runs like a bat out of hell! I go so far back that I was around to attend the Devek events up in San Francisco. They did lots of work on mine as I’d drive it up there from San Diego just to have them work on it!

@ BTW, you are dead on about the interior! Do you know of anyone who does a good job on the interiors? Even as well maintained as mine is, I drive it so it’s time to re-do the front seats. No rips or tears but it’s time for new foam and I’d do the leather as well:). I know there was one guy out there well known for this but I can’t remember who it was?

Around 12-13 years ago when I purchased my 928 S4 MY89 (Guards Red), the Landshark community would jokingly say, when asked how much a 928 is, it's a $AUD50,000 car.......... depends on where you start LOL! I looked at at least a dozen cars and went with one with good service records, great interior, and good previous owner pedigree. Loving my 928 and can concur with much of what has been commented on here in the video. Great car. Well built. Solid. Mine's a keeper! Cheers

Great job again with this, and I just wanted to check in again. I can confirm everything you are saying. Two months ago, I got a 1987 4S and had it directly sent from Atlanta to the mechanic in Dallas. I still haven't seen it, and the mechanic's bill is up to $17,500.
A great compilation :-)👍 In my opinion, the early models look like a classic, and the later models look timeless. I own my 88 S4 for 17 years, I still love the way it drives and the way it looks. Now I started wondering if I should upgrade to a GTS 🤔

Great content! Had an '87 S4 with the pop up wing and daily driver for 5 years. It was extremely fast from 80 to top end and with the auto it would just toggle between 3rd and 4th gear just trying to go faster. Replaced with a '91 S4 that was pretty much just perfect. It wasn't as fast top end but much faster than the '87 0 to 60mph. I always loved how they just sit or squat down when at speed and more gas is usually the answer.
Love the S4’s! The 87’s had slightly longer gearing, great for the autobahn! The 91 had lots of improvements that add up! Great choice, never sell! 🔥🔥 Thanks for watching brother! 👊👊
My grandfather’s 1980 928 was just recently restored and delivered to my house yesterday. It’s entirely original minus the restoration. This video was super helpful in helping me, my father, and my grandmother get to know the vehicle better.
Great video with many details and all are absolutely true! Bought my 1992 GTS 21 years ago at rock bottom price in Germany and never regretted it! Regardless what people say, this car was built to last. The last true manufactured car by Porsche. At 169 kmiles today, it still drives and feels like it just rolled off the assembly line. Never let me stranded in 21 years of ownership!
As a teenager hanging out with my friends outside a fast food shop in Sydney we all went nuts when a 928 drove past. Wall LOVED cars & were apprentice panel beaters & mechanics & only just got our drivers licences. When Porsche came out with a front engined V8 to replace their rear engined flat 6 & we would argue about whether it was the right move because we all worshipped the Turbo 911 with the whale tail. I’m 58 now & still yet to own a Porsche but they’re still my all time favourite brand. Some day I’ll own one.
"Like driving a bank vault" Yeah totally. Back in the day I used to say mine was like driving a tank on steroids. And the automatic shifter felt like a control lever off of a 747. Acceleration felt like you were taking a 747 down the runway at full blat. Awesome. And a great video.

Low miles. 17k where can I get all those instrument cluster parts that you said you got 4 of and the gears ⚙️ to replace. By any chance do you have all the Porsche Part Numbers that I could then order at Porsche. Or do you recommend going aftermarket?? Are they better than Porsche Original but older design parts for that cluster ? It moves up and down perfect. 👍🏼 but while in there.. Thank you for all you do brother. Porsche there is no substitute.
I would leave everything stock, just make sure it’s working properly. Only change the odometer gear, especially if your 928 only has 17K miles. They last forever, unless it overheats.. So if all fluids are changed regularly, it’s a non-issue (some coolants become corrosive). Most issues on 928 engines are simply lack of maintenance, the engine should last over 500k+ miles without needing a rebuild. Thanks for watching brother! 👊👊
@HernanSpeed WIth most cars I have driven actually, the S4 was just horrible the GTS was a little better, but it's not a car to my liking at all...jumping between an 1974 Carrera and the S4 was like night and day, after that to a 993 Turbo...I rather drive a Miata than a 928.😇

@HernanSpeed WIth most cars I have driven actually, the S4 was just horrible the GTS was a little better, but it's not a car to my liking at all...jumping between an 1974 Carrera and the S4 was like night and day, after that to a 993 Turbo...I rather drive a Miata than a 928.😇
Understood, preferences can be different. When you say that the 928 was slow, it was the fastest legal production car sold in the USA at the time. So, it’s always good to know what someone is using to compare.

You are actually comparing a Mazda Miata with a 1.6 to 2.0 4 Cylinder that is built like a tin can to a completely overbuilt Porsche 928.. 😂
I have 13 Cars of every make and the Porsche is one of my favorites.
It’s a great example with low miles.
