      I'd add stuff to hold water. Lol. If you have a pet crop or pet area. Can add moisture retentive material. I think miracle grow sells the product with out the potting mix etc . Take care all.

    I also use a moisture meter. Sometimes that coco coir be playing tricks and I can'ttell. 😂 Plus, I tend to over water. So the meter has helped me to know if my pots are truely dry. Here in 8b, I'm already in the high 90's.

    I really love that water hose setup! 😊
    I watched a presentation a few weeks ago that showed how to use berms around the plants to catch the runoff. It cause the water to pool for a little while before it was absorbed. The guy lives in Arizona so he really has to be extremely resourceful about how to stretch his water supply. 😊

    Из своего опыта , огурцы лучше выращивать в одну плеть, которая будет главной. Тогда урожая будет больше. Перцы ,очень любят почву в которой большое содержание мела или доломитовой муки.

    Hi Asia. (This is a little lengthy, but please read.) I've heard you mention twice now about not being able to get hay at Tractor Supply. (Love that store too.) There has been an issue with hay..and other grasses being contaminated by 'pyridine carboxylic acids'.
    This is sold under 4 or 5 herbicide names. That doesn't really matter though because small space and/or backyard gardeners will rarely, if ever, use those types of herbicides. The issue is that these herbicides are used by large scale farmers and remain in hay and some grasses for...years! When the hay is sold it is contaminated and if you plant in it almost anything planted will die, or there will be poor seed germination; twisted, cupped and elongated leaves; misshapen fruit; and reduced yields. Bad, bad results in your garden. This can also happen with some bought compost as the horses, cows; etc. eat the grasses/hay and the added terrible herbicides go through their systems untouched and, if course, comes out in their poop. We have to be exceedingly careful these days. If you are not getting hay from some 'one' who grows organically then don't use it for next few years and see if they somehow get this issue under control. There are some soils out there that seem to still be safe. (We use Kelloggs brand exclusively now.) If you do get some hay from somewhere, plant in it first before putting it all over your garden. Just make a hole in it, add a little soil and a tomato plant or something. We did this using a tossed out hay bale we'd gotten after Halloween. Since we were aware of the issue we planted tomatoes in it, plants..not seeds, this season and watched carefully. They were completely dead in less than a week. Those two bales are gone now. This was also discussed on a couple of Homestead Heart eppis; and, last year, Jess talked of her entire high tower hot house crop being completely ruined by contaminated soil on Roots and Refuge. So if you aren't finding hay at Tractor Supply...count yourself lucky. That's where the Homestead Hearts bought theirs.

    I have always thought the same thing about watering. I water when i can. It is said not to water at certain times of the day, or not to water leaves, but I've always wondered - what about the rain? It rains all hours of the day and my plants are still okay after that. Funny.

    • @msslick2000
      @msslick2000 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I mentioned summer evening rain showers in an extension class I went to after they said to water in the morning. They did not have a good answer for me. It rains almost every afternoon or evening in the summer in FL. I water when I can and these plants are going to have to adjust! 😁

      @Lynette Lewis, I think the same thing LOL. I also think about deadheading, who deadheads the flowers growing in the wild. They still produce flowers. It's all so confusing sometimes lol. I like to grow as natural as I can.

    • @MissBetsyLu
      @MissBetsyLu 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@carleanr4051 deadheading does encourage more flowers if that's what you're after. Like cutting off broccoli encourages side shoots. It also keeps plant from spending it's energy on seed production when you're not after seeds. Deadheading can also make the plant live longer because it saved energy from making seeds and it has to start trying to make seed all over again. Many blessings everyone, everywhere..

    Always love, love learning/adding to my own experiences. In this video each time the dog barked or what sounds like front door alarm, my baby was barking too. I have so many tomatoes. Some are for my baby love as a treat, some are for sauce and the rest are for snacking, etc. Planted too many tomatoes and placed them too close together. Then the Florida rains came. Each year I’m learning more and more and faster. Too many pests and too much heat in July and August so I will not be out there. Think I’m going to plant sunflowers (I have hundreds of seeds) so that the soil is protected and they have deep roots. Toodles until your next fantastic video. Tampa. Florida 9b

      As it relates to the frost…it should not be grown when their will be frost but you can grow a second crop in fall before the frost. Hope that makes sense lol
