@omarrckzs77 Well you should only tune when you need to. It's best to get your engine to correct settings and leave them to ensure they stay adjusted correctly. Ideal temp is 180-220F
Thanks so much for this vid! I an new to Nitro RC and my new buggy was cutting out after the Glow Plug was taken out. Other tuning videos didnt help, until I saw this troubleshooting video of yours! Car runs perfectly now, thanks a bunch, keep them coming!!
As you suggest running richer in cooler temperatures, wouldn't that also cool the engine more which may be below optimal operating temperatures? I am just learning, so thanks for making this very helpful video.
@@Andre_Thomasson In colder weather as strange as this may sound, a nitro engine of this category, runs LEANER on its own due to less oxygen in the air, the air is shallow/less dense then say in the summer. Due to this happening, we have to give the engine more oxygen to run normally again, how do we do this if mother nature can't give us more oxygen? in the fuel mixture for nitro rc engines specifically, there is an additive called nitromethane, this is a fluid rich of oxygen in liquid form (correct me if im wrong). So in this case we richen up the needles setting slightly and look for that blue smoke again but also listen to what the engine wants. i do agree with you in the sense that if we where to keep the engine running at optimal temps, we would have to lean out the engine. But in this case that is not true, you can try it for yourself but beware that any damage done to your engine(s) i won't be responsible for. For testing purposes you could try lean it out and brap the engine a little and listen to what it does.. another odd but true example is when we have to richen the engine when the weather is really hot, this means the engine will become hotter quicker and we have to keep eye on temps not going too high. but how do we cool the engine when the weather is searing hot? To reduce temps again, we richen the engine, a good tune will keep the engine cooler but also lubricates it better, again look for a normal/good amount of blue smoke and listen to the engine. if it tries to rev up anywhere on the powerband on its own you know where to richen it little by little. if it revs up at idle or you have a higher idle then when you started, you have to richen it. Now i could go into glow plugs but what i know is the following: smaller engines till around .15/.18 use hotter glow plugs while engine from .21 and up us colder plugs. for some reason HPI's 5.9 big block (i believe this is a .36) recommends a medium plug(example) just make sure you look up the manufacturers listed usable glow plug for a specific engine otherwise you might be chasing a good tune till the sun goes down. Happy RCing!!!
@@VintageCR sorry yeah you're right about that lol but now that i see this again in winter the air is denser so the engine has to be richened but if the air was less dense then yeah i was wrong
@Rileytkas Hmm the clutch might be broken and needs replacing, or perhaps your idle is too high. Usually when it spits fuel it means the HSN is rich, so your LSN still might be lean. Just cause it spits fuel, doesn't always mean it's not lean. Try richening the LSN and see how you go. Defaults are as follows, HSN is flush to edges with one and half turn in. LSN is flush to edges and mostly half to a whole turn in works well :) cheers
@Rileytkas No point in saying ;) every engine is different. My settings won't work for you, you are probably using different % of fuel, Different brand of fuel, different glow plug. Find your own optimum settings mate ;)
On most engines the standard is counterclockwise on each screw to allow more fuel and richening the mixture. Clockwise allows in less fuel and makes the mixture more lean.
yeah i have a .19 engine and in the manual the instructions say 2 turns out from close i think that is bull shit. cause when i go to start it, it makes that popping sound and i think it's lean. the guy at my track said it should be like 3 and a half turns out from close. i need a new carb retainer post and cooling head so i will try to richin' the lsn out and see if that solves my problem
😂😂 out all & I mean all the videos on line trying to explain how to tune hsn-lsn & symptoms by so called experts failed me 😂 followed your simple instructions now my t-max is now running perfectly thanks to your 13 year old video thanks my guy 🤙👍🏻👌
@barroomchampion Best way is to remove the Top metal plate from the car, remove the center gearbox. Then the dogbones will fall out. To get them back in again, you might need to remove the front or rear end of the car as well, so you can get them in easily without having to apply too much pressure n possibly break something :)
@xgrazantx Don't worry, when it's ready videos will appear ;) I still need engine servos and radio so a few weeks yet. Got some videos in store of engine fitting and servo setting up so stay tuned :D

@stevesnelgar1 Hi there, Refer to my LSN and HSN tuning setting videos, giving default settings never works because it depends on glow plug and fuel :)
Hey just asking a totally erelevant question. Is it normal for my back preasue pipe to have condensation in it. Or was it caused by having water in the pipe ty
I have the similar hsp car. Mine spits mass fuel and tank last about 3-4 minutes even at an idle. I'm still on break in so now what? Anyways enjoying the videos.

Hey, your vids have really helped me a lot. The center dogbone on my Exceed Forza 1/10 buggy broke, and can not figure out how to access it without taking apart the ENTIRE car. Do you have any idea how to get to the center dogbone (driveshaft) on an Exceed Forza buggy? I already have the replacement parts. Thanks for any help.!
Surely after the break in period, you do not need the manual so much because you have done the basics but sometimes I wanted to return the engine to factory settings and re adjust and I found that the setting suggested by the book was far too rich! So rich that I would destroy the motor if I turned the high needle 3 and 7 turns rich! and the low speed the same number of turns.
Alexandros Sotiropoulos true mate!! Got a new car in did break in bit it was far far to rich. Flooded every time I started it. I just leaned it a little and boom. Break in was done.
NITRO-RC!!! Surely! In May after adjusting the high needle of the nosram .28 everything ran nice. I put aside the buggy for a few months and yesterday I got it again to run it. It was too rich to run although I had not touch the needle saying that it would be ok. I started leaning bit by bit and it was nice again running and doing some jumps. So it is the external temperatures, moisture and oxygen in the atmosphere that affect the high needle. The low needle didn't seem to be affected at all. So if you do not want to mess around with those needles, we grasp the lipo!

@tipman98 Turn gears until you find the screw through the hole in the casing :) turn it clockwise for earlier shifting and CCW for slower shifting

@tipman98 Not really necessary, just replace the gasket. Sometimes people like to add in some gasket sealer, but I never have :)

its because the air is less dense (less oxygen) and then to conpensate you richen it i think
