    I have a DC-2W and it destroyed every desire to own other chorus pedals that i had. OK, i bought a Boss CE-1 clone BUT, i'm basically only using the Dimension C as a chorus. Even mono is so amazing

      It really is! If it weren't for the digital control circuitry I'd be tempted to get a Waza for my analog pedalboard

      Agree 100%. I am a Chorus fanatic. I never realized: What I was missing = so Unique. What I most love is: No Seasick pitch warble. I also own the F.T.T. Tri Avatar Multi Chorus which is phenomenal for the Alex Lifeson thing.

      I literally ran my CE-5 in stereo for the first time in my like 9 years of owning it and was like well fuck now I want the DC-2W

    I have an original '86 Dimension C (bought new) on my pedalboard and it is absolutely the very soul of my live sound. I use the preset switch on the far right of the pedal (at 4:09 on the video) and never use any of the other presets. Everything I have is 80's Japanese black label BOSS pedals (except for an RV-6 reverb- had to have it.) Even have a DD-2 delay (!) and the awesome, 3-knob CS-2 BOSS compressor. I still have these multi-effect pedalboard guys look at me and ask HOW I get those cool 80's sounds . . . hmmm . . . I wonder . . .

    This video pushed me over the edge. I had one of these over 10 years ago and I just bought the DC-2W a couple of weeks ago after considering it for awhile, I friggin love it! Thank you

    It sounds very impressive. I think I would pass as I really like control over the dry wet in the signal. I use a bit of chorus pushed back on Fuzz to increase the wall of sound effect and I like a hint to take a bit of edge off of my semi which I use when there is lot of flatpicking in a tune. When I need a serious flatpicking sound I use a my Fender Duo Sonic which has a Ric PU at the neck with the Digitech Mosaic faux 12 string pedal. I push it with the Ananasound Byrd Song which is NOS clone of the 1966 Vox V-806 treble booster that Roger Mcguinn has always had built right into his Ric 12 string. It works really well for tunes that I want to make contrasting changes in as I have a Duncan Antiquity '55 Tele at the bridge so I can go from literally aggressive Metal to something very delicate at the click of a switch.

    • @JoePerkinsMusic
      @JoePerkinsMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 4 preset switches certainly aren't for everyone. :-) But I've just shot a video seeing how close I can get the CE-3 sounding in it's 1st Stereo mode to the DC-2 running in stereo....almost exactly the same, and with control over rate & depth :-)

      @@g.marion5888 At the moment I have maybe 50 pedals crudely scattered over my old board and 30 or so I patch as needed as I work on maybe 3 or 4 tunes a day. I have 2 boards in almost a kit like form I am working on. They have a frame of ABS pipe using ABS furniture grade fittings. Strips of 11/4" x 3/8 " hardwood act as shelves for 3 steps ...2 of which have rows of pedals under them that I only need to switch on or off but not get at the knobs. The 2 boards are link together by very small patchbays. They are grouped into what could be 4 separate boards. Each of these are looped into a switcher with 4 switches. On a given song I can switch between these 4 boards. Each has a compressor a few dirt pedals, Fx, then a smart gate followed by a delay and reverb. When I switch lets say from a verse to a chorus I can go from a delicate faux 12 string sound to Doom Sound then hit another switch for a solo with a 80'/90's JCM 800 stack sound. The idea is to get what you hear on the Post produced sound on recording ..but live! At last count I found I was using 80 pedals.
      I just counted them twice and it was 82 the first time. LOL So lets say by the time I finish the rig it may be 85. I get about 2 pedals a month and have for about 5 years. I was spending about $20,000.00 a year before Covid
      but my day job went out of business. I sell what does not work out. On the whole you can lose about 25 to 30% of the current new price selling them. I had guys I new at my old job that spent that much a year on cars, off road vehicles and boats all of which made big, big loses when sold. Speaking of %. I buy worldwide and on average pay 30% less per pedal than the street price. I only go out if I gig. No cafe, fast food, concerts that I have to pay, movies not even a takeout coffee. That can easily be $400 a month saved for gear. There are always killer bargains but you have to look daily and act fast. In late december I got a 2017 Gibson SG Ltd. Ed. w/there best hardshell. It had never been played. In fact it had the tags on it. I paid $800 and that included shipping it over 4300 miles. The guy was an antique dealer who bought entire estates. He saw it as a used appliance. Sorry I digress but will take pics when the board is done.

    It's a better than average chorus, and has useful stereo. That's about it. I understand that for people that find chorus or similar mod effects useful this might be a great choice despite the extreme lack of controls. I don't think that's me, though this thing does sound pretty nice, particularly in stereo. If it was cheap...

  • @monkeybrains
    @monkeybrains 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sounds good Joe. I have a dc3 and although its digital sounds excellent, its subtle but there if you get my drift. Might have to get a dc2w again, I had one but I didnt get on with it.

    • @JoePerkinsMusic
      @JoePerkinsMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those DC-3s look very cool - if I were to ever buy a digital effect it'd probably be something like that :-)

  • @jongreen2198
    @jongreen2198 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Sounds great! I’ve never tried one; I enjoy running modulations effects through a Roland JC 30 and any analog gain staging through a 2nd (tube/valve) amp. I’m not clear about the (signal path) differences between the DC-2 vs Wazacraft. How do they compare? Is the analog signal blended in totally converted?

    • @JoePerkinsMusic
      @JoePerkinsMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As I understand it, the original DC-2 is 100% analog in every way; the Waza is fully analog in terms of signal path (so no conversion going on) but the circuitry that the switches control is digital. So there's an element of 'analog circuit, digital brain' going on, but ultimately your signal & the modulation is all totally analog. :-)

    • @jongreen2198
      @jongreen2198 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JoePerkinsMusic thanks for the explanation Joe. I am a fan of (whatever it is I perceive) that the Roland Jazz Chorus (digital) brings in a combined amp scenario. Stereo and Space Chorus capabilities is certainly part of it but also an overall restoration in clarity. These sound terms are frustratingly subjective... anyway, it works for me in combination with a tube amp - alone, not so much.

  • @FretLevelMidnight
    @FretLevelMidnight 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Fun video, to me this just sounds like a multi-voiced Chorus.

    • @JoePerkinsMusic
      @JoePerkinsMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's essentially two identical modulation lines, but one is flipped out of phase so they _mostly_ cancel each other out. But playing against the dry signal, it gives this big effect. :-)

  • @dahlbaker
    @dahlbaker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    On settings 3 and 4 it almost sounds like it interacts with the location of the guitar in relation to the amp if you push the gain. It's a different kind of edge. I will try to reproduce it with my JHS Emperor (equipped with tap tempo).
