Okay ngl, I really like the webcam more. Weird, I know, but I like how the webcam shows more imperfections compared to the actual camera. I might actually think about using that webcam for my own stuff. I really like it. It also really highlights the light gradient from blue to pink in the background which I just think is gorgeous and never noticed before.
I’m not that big on cameras or anything the big difference to me is how the new camera is way sharper on your background and face, so it depends on how blurry you want your background

its a good webcam but it still looks like a webcam. the a5100 still beats it. how does the webcam perform with the green screen? that was always a problem for me with webcams getting it right. the a5100 even with the kit 16-50mm lens blew every webcam away for green screen work.
I need to test that in another video! The reason webcams usually have a hard time w green screen is bc they compress the signal so heavily, the Elgato one sends an uncompressed signal to the computer so it might perform better with that!
Facecam can be bought for $130 today on Amazon. That insane value is hard to beat since just the capture card for a good camera will cost as much as the entire Facecam setup. If you are a smaller streamer, or just want a good webcam, this is the way to go.
The big problem with the a5100 is that reviews like this make it look so good. 8 years after it's release and it still goes for $500 on ebay with the kit lense cause everyone wants it for a webcam. I really want one but body only with a 16mm 1.4 is looking like $600.
My opinion: Elgato is cheaper and doesn't look bad at all. I'm pretty used to the webcam you use(d) so i cant really decide on which one is better Quality goes towards the old one but the elgato facecam kinda adds more thought into it and almost looks the same, ngl elgato feels better, looks better, and costs less, the old cam is good but elgato kinda just beats it horribly
The web cam is pretty noice, but I like your original one better. What if you used both? Like record both at the same time, so you can get different angles? Idk maybe it’s not a good idea. Maybe use the webcam when doing Garage Gang to make it easier for you? Idk I’m not good at camera stuff lol
I cant tell the difference after you set the settings. all i can make out is that the backround i blurry in the sony one and its brighter in the sony one.
You gotta remember that it takes time for stuff to upload to TH-cam and he could upload this at any time so it could have been recorded hours ago (also it's lightly edited too)
The Sony definitely wins. But for a webcam in that size, it’s pretty dang good. Lots of adjustment sliders and the ability to save the settings on the camera is really nice.

Sony a5100 please the Elgato cam footage does not blur the background, doesn't let us see YuB's beautiful brown eyes properly and his epic hair clearly........I feel like you should stick with the Sony a5100 for videos and streams and you can use the Elgato for streams or videos when you are traveling or something with your macbook
I honestly like the Sony over the Elgato because of the blur for the background. I also enjoy how the camera isn’t overly sharp and noisy. Either way if you use the Elgato in a normal video I doubt anyone will really notice. Also knowing TH-cam if someone dislikes it they will most likely leave a comment about it and if there is a lot of bad comments about it then I would say keep the Sony, but overall I would say Elgato is good for garage or something that you need to be more mobile with or something you dont want have overheat. Overall its your personal preference and I am no camera expert so I can’t really give solid advice.
the elgato epoc pro cam app for iPhone is great, has the background blur filter. Looks good but then there goes your phone you know? Getting my face cam today 🤞
I am so use to the background blur on the old camera but the elgato webcamera is better still. I guess if you change the look in the settings like the colors, other stuff and put the camera in to the same place where you'd have your old camera, then everything would be perfect I guess.
I've been so used to the old camera that any other angle looks weird, but it doesn't look half bad! It's pretty good for quick videos since it doesn't look too hard to move around with it. Edit: I'm not camera expert as my two experiences with cameras were with my 3DS and with my phone, so take my opinion lightly

if u want u're depth of field on the elgato and u own a gtx card/graphics card then u can download nvidia broadcast and adjust apply it in which gets a good natural look to it
I use their iOS epoccam and it’s amazing! It’s for iPhones etc. seeing the quality of this it makes me tempted to actually transfer to the web cam. Having the ability to change settings like that & also making me be able to use my phone again it seems like it’s worth it.
It's worth it! I made the switch from EpocCam to FaceCam very recently and I don't regret it. The webcam has 60 fps too, compared to the 1080p 30 fps limit in EpocCam. It's also more practical, like you said it frees up your phone and you also get to have a fixed camera on its arm, instead of constantly placing/removing the iPhone.
@@sinba. I did end up making the switch but sadly mine had a lot of weird flickering on blacks. Which was annoying as I use the cameras for my hand cam set up. I’ll stick with the epoccam for the time being.

Hey YuB, In my opinion, you should use your sony a5100 to record videos and livestreams, but the elgato facecam to record a video in the garage, in the yard and much more.
I think like you said it would be good to use the el gato webcam for traveling or for garage stuff. Maybe you can figure out how to make the background blurry on it, I just think having the background crisp is distracting for a normal video and even if it’s just for a small window while the gameplay is taking up the screen, you do like to switch to your face on full screen a lot. I just think the blurry background looks better but that’s just my opinion. It is a very good camera for $200 and I agree that it would be good for someone to get into making TH-cam videos.
I think that the old camera makes you stand out a lot better and makes the colorful background less distracting and just more color, but the new camera is great for making the background a lot more mixed with your face. For "special" videos like GARAGE GANG or something the camera is perfect because the background isn't as colorful. Keep making these video because for some reason I like them a lot lol.

I know this video is a year old, but since you asked the question, I like the Facecam over the Sony. Elgato looks sharper/cleaner on the face and doesn't have the depth of field, which isn't how real life looks anyway, so I think no depth of field is more relatable.
This is definitely what I'll get when I want a nice webcam. Just the fact that it has flash memory makes it better than anything else in it's price range. Then from there I'll just wait till I can afford a super nice mirrorless.

At 6 minutes your hair is sharper than in comparison with the Sony camera at 6.30 min. If you used that moment of some sharpness that you applied on facecam, I believe that the cameras would be in very similar quality situation. I see that at 6:30 min the sharpness of your outfit on the Elgato is better than on the Sony camera. About blur, using Chromakey, it is possible to get something similar to Sony camera.
What do you use for your microphone I have a blue yeti x and it’s supper sensitive I don’t know how to stop that because I got a pop filter and a mic suppressor and it’s still very loud if someone can help me please reply to this comment I also already tried using it’s software and tried another software called voicemeter banana
Yeti is a condenser mic which are sensitive by nature! If you already tried turning the gain down, you might need to look into getting a dynamic mic instead, they’re a lot less sensitive in general.

so the new cam is nice and clean, but the oldie gives the lights a nice glow to the whole image.
