I had a 2011 1050 from new with the Arrow 3>1 lowboy… it spat flames every time you let it engine brake through 4,,000rpm. Those were the days when men were men, emissions were emitted, Freddos were still affordable and Triumphs were made in

2017 Tuono on the same dyno... th-cam.com/video/XAvqCHxZM98/w-d-xo.html. Newer Tuono's may make a bit more power... but Speed Triple is lighter.
      Here's newer Tuono and SFv4: th-cam.com/video/RcxvwLTjq7g/w-d-xo.html
I'm gonna say the Triumph is faster in a straight line than the Tuono... slower than the Duc once moving but quicker off the line... in the twisties however... probably still going to be all Aprilia.

    • @falcodog2917
      @falcodog2917 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@kuhndj67 I've owned both and the Speed is faster than the Tuono, but because the Speed is so smooth and linear, it does not feel like it is. It's just so deceptive. As far as the twisties? The Speed is easier for me to rip it up in the canyons and that flat torque curve is so broad that you don't need to shift all that often but the Tuono hits like a bull coming up out of the corners and it rages while the speed just gets on with being very predictable and very fast. I would say it comes down to the rider preference and skill.

How are you getting on with the rear shock? Mine felt really harsh, tried various set ups to no avail. Took it to an Ohlins approved service company, where according to the Ohlins build specs, it had the wrong compression damping shim (too little damping) in it. All sorted now with a respring, feels ace.

Other than that the quickshifter is pretty faultless so far. I'm interested more in terms of what you do with the suspension Al, as I think we are similar weights/ height. I'm running mine on the soft road setting they give, it works pretty well ish on the ploughed fields that pass for roads near me. But would like to see what you do with it fella! Excellent as always BTW!

"Let us know what to do with the bike." All just personal opinion. Tail tidy, replace the bar-end mirrors as they look naff head on. End can (as you mentioned), and a tune. Then, in your politest British accent, ask BST for a set of Rapid Tek rims. Better tyres (if required) then sort the suspension. Most importantly, enjoy the bugger because it's still the best looking "muscle" bike around - but with a healthy serve of track intent. Cheers.

I want to know more about the engine character. The Daytona had one of the best engine characters, but no journalists talk about the 1200's engine character other than saying that it is "smooth". For example, is it quick to rev? Does it snap with instant torque like a GSXR 1k? I noticed that it has tremendous low down torque on the dyno compared to every competitor except the Superduke, but that is hardly mentioned either, so I don't know what to think about this bikes engine

What a strange time we are living in.. I mean, an authentic british motorcycle, hooligan related, the epitome of a naked bike is delayed for delivery in its home country. Covid is one thing but building this peace of history in Thailand is not right. Even Land Rover builds in Slovakia... stayin in Europe for reasons. I would give a 1000 bucks more for a bike made in Europe.... and maybe 1500 bucks for made at home. It´s the heart that buys a moto...

Totally agree - Triumph are starting to notice we are pished at paying premium prices for Thai made bikes (the only reason I do not own a new Rocket) and are expanding production in the UK once more - I will consider a Rocket now - but only on a condition of sale that it's a UK built bike (can tell from the VIN) UK Rocket production should start in about 6 months.

I have been berating Triumph about their Thai manufacturing model - they are going to start producing UK made Tigers and Rockets this year with more models following. I can understand Thailand when they made the (then) budget Bonnies - and for the new Trident in a very cost-sensitive market - but the premium models should be UK made.

For 2k of Yankie Doodle Dollars more one can have the Fact Tuono with super dooper 2.0 susp. Or for 2k Less there's the Factory T Ape over the Speed Triple RR with that suspension. But the RR is a bit sexy.... Yet it's 2k freedom bucks more. I'm really quite torn between the RR and the Factory Ape, I'd do the RS but it doesn't come (that I know of) with the fancy pants Suspension.
Ps. Love your stuff! Wearing the windcheater now. Love the pen holder in the pocket. And the pockets in the pockets.

I have looked a lot of Dyno results where the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 makes around 155hp. However, in all these results (including yours) the Speed Triple 1200 is revved to only 10700rpm whereas the rev limiter of the bike is 11.400 rpm from manufacturer. Why did you rev the bike to only 10700rpm when the bike makes More Power in the last 700rpm?

Modern Triumphs are very good - what Japanese adventure bike is better than the Tigers? Is the MT-10 "better" than the Speed Triple? Nope - both excellent bikes in their own right. And however much I hate BMW - the S1000RR is the fastest sportsbike with an incredible electronics package at a reasonable price - they do go pop occasionally though.

@@FortyFourTeeth I love the tension around this subject, it actually thrills me to see all the tiptoeing. Like everyone's worried about upsetting some bear who for whatever reason is incredibly attached to inaffordable manufacturing in the UK.
Triumph heavily outsources its production to the orient, especially Thailand. Most bikes are merely _assembled_ in the UK.
The profit from exploiting cheap labour goes to the share holders. Keep waving that Union Jack, lads. Or pony the fuck up, to borrow an Americanism.
That said, Triumphs are overpriced nowadays. The quality is there, don't get me wrong, but it is in the Italian marques too, and they're still just about made in Italy. At least as long as the labour groups still have sway (bloody commies)...

Does it track a good line? My 2008 Speed Triple (with the an Arrow low boy etc) was a fantastic bike but at speed it struggled to hold a relatively high speed line. Had a first gen SD 1290 since (wheelied everywhere but slapped everywhere as well). A super naked will never match a sportbike in this department but the S1000R I rode was really good and my MT10 wasn’t far off
