In today's vlog I head to the all time famous durian market SS2 Durian House Stall, located in SS2 district of Kuala Lumpur City. About 1 hour away from the centre by public transport, this durian lovers paradise is well worth the trip!
Upon arriving I was overwhelmed with the pungent smell of this fruit. I could smell it before I could see it. The amount of varieties of durian here is astonishing. Completely new to me, I only knew one durian fruit, the most famous here in Malaysia, the Musang King, also known as D197. There's even a Musang queen!
I bought 4 durians today to try & test, each one with it's own bold flavours, sweet, bitter, creamy, buttery, yoghurty, the list goes on.
Address: PT1967, Jalan SS 2/61, SS 2, 47300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
    Opening times: 11:30-23:30
    Price: 100 Ringgit

You are lucky to be in Malaysia during the durian season. People especially foreigners find it hard to describe durian. Well every durian has its own characteristics. You really know how to eat durian the correct way. Hats off to you.

You’re officially a chosen one by the the spirit of these mystic fruit. Literally no adults will like durian the first round not even the locals. Respect to you Dan. Just to be safe, some food and drinks to avoid while having durian.

TQ for trying FRESH durian Dan. The smell will disappeared once you eat it. It's magical fruit.
You won't expect the taste with that kind of smell do you? LOL.
It is pity to see foreigners, especially those tasted imported durian back at their local asian supermarket. Because imported frozen durian is not advisable to eat. You must consume the durian after 1 or 2 days it fell naturally from the tree.
I hope foreigners come to the place where durian grows, thats the best durian you can get. Dont go for imported back in your home.

Not fully ripe usually coming from Thailand's they harvest their durian before it's fully ripe and it's less smelly and less flavours compared to fully ripened durian.

    • @squidster3128

@@acerazak4087 it's frozen mass-production boxes, available in Costco, a wholesale membership giant "supermarket" and some stores in chinatown start to sell musang king durian. Monthong has been around for a while, frozen whole durians, price range around $12-13/lb 😓
But I think mangosteen is the most expensive fruit here in HI, beats durian. It can cost $13-16/lb but they are fresh. One time, out of curiousity and craving, I picked 3 mangosteen and when it costs $10+ for 3, I did not buy, telling myself, Screw that!
