You've come to the right country to try Durians. Malaysia produces the best Durians in the world, with the Black Thorn and Musang King being the best and most expensive species.😅
@@DavionKikiAdventures I personally like the Black Thorn and Musang King species. They're the top grade ones, and a must have when in Pahang or Penang. The 2 top producers of such Durians. Enjoy!
Thai got good durian too, generally even better in term of size and looks, but unfortunately their common practice of harvesting are little different than Malaysian.
@@DavionKikiAdventures generally, Thai pluck the fruit. Malaysian wait the fruit to fall naturally to the ground or safety net. So Thai can be a bigger exporter, but Malaysian are ripen naturally, definitely taste better. But these days we have freezing technology to export it abroad especially to China.
I had an experience of buying durian in thailand. It was uneatable, the inside was like unripe jackfruit. The huge size of the fruit just made it more dissapointing....
Wait a minute.. hold up.. first she said it smelled like a fancy garbage.. now tell me why all the sudden she said it smell so fragrance😅😅😅 well.. you must be laughing now.. wait until she craving durian when you both at overseas far away from Malaysia. The price difference just ridiculously expensive. As a Malaysian myself the best durian is the free durian.. 😅😅 because all of them are the best even the kampung ones which have a different varieties and tastes.
Yeah because everytime she’s encountered the smell, she just walk past it… but when she finally taste and smell the flesh, it was so good to her! Will have to try to find kampung ones next time
I would the initial smell could be from the opened shells and seeds left in the basket in open. And because open part of durians left in outside under the sun snd humid can smell bad. Whereas freshly opened durian which ripen naturely smells really nice. Westerners only can get unripen, frozen durian which isnt great. Anyway, Malaysians varieties are the best.
@@DavionKikiAdventures I actually like Golden Phoenix … the durian stall holder said to take that as a starter as the taste is lighter and go on to the heavier variety like MSW
Its all in the head. Those who try it without prejudice or preconceived ideas will never reject it. Whether one likes it depends on individual's preference. Durian taste like durian and nothing else. Those who try to relate the taste to other food, such as onion, gabbage has problem in their head.
Definitely not all in the head. Some people just simply can't stand the smell or taste unfortunately. It's like some people can't eat spicy. Everyone's tastebuds pick up different flavors
By the amount of comments Kiki had on her look, she needs to order those dna tests like Ancestry, etc like pronto. 😂😂 lol! It would be interesting to see what mix percentage she has. Anyway, pineapple is by look of its crown can be seen as king of fruits. But durian by how brutal it is with the spikes and smell.
@@DavionKikiAdventures You can get that experience in Malacca. Malacca Durian Heng 77200 Bemban Malacca. There's a short on it at Travelicious. That expert durian opener also went viral on YT for his skills.
You should stop fear factoring foreigners. The best way to start your experience is one teaspoonful of durian mixed well in a generous amount of vanilla icecream. Increase amount of durian gradually until you are able to consume the durian without any icecream.
Where’s the fun in that? And how do you enjoy the amazing taste of durian if it’s lost in a generous amount of sweet vanilla ice cream that overpowers it?
@@DavionKikiAdventures And the fun you're referring to is to see foreigners reel away from durian and swear never to touch it again? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of exposing them to the joy of the fruit? I've seen so many videos like yours with the exact same result - the foreigners hatred for the fruit merely solidifies! It's incredible that no one even learns from past lessons. The icecream is supposed to give them a familiar smell, taste and texture while experiencing the unique smell, taste and texture of durian which are usually offensive to those who are new to them. As they gain confidence, add more durian and reduce the amount of icecream. Baby steps. Isn't this better than to bombard their senses with something they've never previously experienced? I challenge you to do something that no other TH-camr has done before - convert a durian-hating foreigner.
Not all foreigners reel away and swear to to never touch it again. There are plenty of local Asians who don’t like durian either so it’s not just foreigners. It’s always a 50:50. How do you do the same method for other foods? Like Balut or coconut worms or fermented shrimp paste? Also, she is my girlfriend so we both agreed to do it this way. I would like you make a video introducing people to durians your way. The great thing about food is no one has to like one thing or the other.
@@DavionKikiAdventures Firstly, challenging someone to make a video only works if that someone is a TH-camr. Hence my challenge to you. Secondly, let's apply some logic. Why on earth would you eat balut or coconut worms or belacan with icecream??? There are plenty other ways to enjoy those other delicacies that make sense. Icecream is not a one size fits all solution. And I am neither an expert on balut nor coconut worms. For belacan, try it stir fried with kangkong. Even a hardened Aussie will dig in, based on my experience. Thirdly, whether locals eat or hate durians is besides the matter. I was talking about how you chose to introduce durian to your girlfriend. Letting you know what other TH-camrs do and the invariable outcome should elicit gratitude instead of meh. Instead of using the fear factor touch, you should have eased her in. My suggestion of using icecream is meant to achieve this. But if you still insist on doing the same things yet expect different results, what can anyone say after that? Let's just hope Einstein was wrong.
