@@RealLifeFruitopia makes sense - because summer is really winter over there. It's just that summer is summer here - so why would any american be there at this time of year?
@@RealLifeFruitopia it's not native to the americas nor europe - so it wouldn't make sense to be consuming foreign fruit when local fruit is already available - and many exotic! Glad you made it to your dream fruit market guys. Don't think i'd bother going there lol. As I said before Durian is a take it or leave it fruit for me, the flesh is just too creamy, heavy and rich for my palate lol. I prefer a light, crisp, refreshing fruit taste in my mouth 😂. But i get why people are addicted to them 👍
I’ve decided to go on a durian feast in SS2, today. I’ll pick and select the Musang King and Black Thorn variety on my own. One important tip is to make sure there is no hole that has been burrowed by insects. Another thing is to ensure that the tip end of the fruit is sealed or not split at all. Use your nose to smell it, select the one with a fresh smell or perhaps, look at its stem for freshness. I prefer the freshest fruit from the farm and not a fruit that had been dropped for more than 12 hours from the tree.
I have studied in Melbourne a few years ago and they do sell Malaysian durians at Asian Markets, like 15.99 AUD for 3 pulps of Frozen Musang King. It will be more expensive more these are just the prices I remembered then. Eat it frozen it has an ice cream texture with less smell than fresh but taste the same. Don't thaw it bite it frozen as it's soft like ice cream not like block ice
Those places tend to scam people by selling just random kampung durians (which means something like random village seedlings) for top varieties like Musang King or D24. I'm not saying this one is like that but there are lots of scammy places (usually run by Chinese)
What you typed is true, we walked past quite a few suspicious looking stalls. I did my homework on the top vendors at SS2 through Google reviews. We ended up sitting where the local Malays were eating.
@@RealLifeFruitopia ah - it's summer here - so frozen is ideal here - and that's why americans would probably prefer something frozen rather than some place that's hot and requires lots of travel - that involves a lot of exposure to hot weather as well. Similar to the other response comment I wrote.

We often buy it frozen at Springvale, but not the same as freshly cut. Thanks for sharing!
Don’t forget to try Black Thorn durian variety too since you’re here in M’sia and let’s know your verdict.

Just wondering, who is watering your big garden while you are away from Australia for such as long time?
Rainfall
@@RealLifeFruitopia Haha, true. In Gold Coast, the rain has been on for almost 2 weeks so far, and no sign it will stop in another week.

I hope you can make it to KL soon!
Just to clarify that SS2 is in Petaling Jaya which is another city adjacent to Kuala Lumpur
Thanks for clarifying. For most foreign viewers, Kuala Lumpur is better known.
If I can recall correctly, Musang King (premium quality) was about rm45 per/kg 5 years ago.
Most things have doubled in price since then.
@@RealLifeFruitopiano worries Aussie dollar strong lately.
Durian is the best fruit to me, second is Marang.. 😊😋
I'm yet to try Marang. Waiting for our trip to Borneo, where it's known as Tarap.
@@RealLifeFruitopia highly recommend it.. I'm sure you'll like it.. 😊
Durian man located is SS 2, is in Petaling Jaya , not in Kuala Lumpur.
Thanks for clarifying. Title fixed.
i prefer musang king over black torn, eventhough black torn more expensive. in my place , Btorn = RM58 per kg and musang king RM50 per kg
I like both! You are lucky to have access to fresh durian :)
This is not the place to purchase durians as their durians are very expensive ! And it is a nightmare for anyone looking for a parking lot .
Where else do you suggest?
