Just so you know, if you use Ice Bridge in the cavern where you first get sorcery, you can walk to the area behind the altar and find a lot of treasure chests around the statues with some pretty decent loot.
I really enjoy the new sorcery mechanics, but I feel that casting them is a bit too slow, especially if you're already in an active encounter with an enemy. Sure, you have your followers, but they don't always keep enemies off you.
As of right now there arent any spells you should be casting in the middle of combat anyway. Pretty much all of them are meant to be cast just before combat while you rely on their duration. Tbh I actually kind of like it like that because it forces you to actually think about your attack rather than just slinging spells randomly and getting full corruption almost immediately
The Conan universe is what's considered a "low magic" setting, as opposed to the "high magic" settings of things like D&D, Elder Scrolls, Harry Potter, etc... In Conan lore, magic is more resourceful and Shamanistic like. I think the magic fits well into the game. We don't need fireballs and deathbolts. If you have seen the old movies, some spells are in them.

Just a heads up to folks, any potion that resets your attributes also resets the corruption points but you will still need to cleanse the corruption debuff with a dancer or etc
I'm new to conan, me and my buddy decided to give it a try and we are loving it. You're content has helped us out so much because like dark souls this game is very cryptic.
I wish I'd had this video a week ago. I do like the illusory eyepatch I found and used with that ugly cultist sandstorm mask. My character looks a lot better wearing that upgrade than without it.
The only thing I really dislike is that you craft the Pouches on the Alchemy Bench...That makes the Thaumaturgy bench almost useless after upgrading the Tome 😞 Other than that I'm enjoying Sorcery greatly. Thanks for the video, keep up the great work! ;-)
It's a cool step and all, but I feel like there's a lack of aggressive spell variants. You can summon a mist that creates some weak undead and create an incredibly inaccurate lightning cloud. That's basically it. Sorcery as of right now feels severly lacking and unsatisfying to play because so much grind is involved.
Thanks for this guide! Its why I got back into Conan Exiles. On an official PVP server, if someone kills you, do you lose your spells? Can they take your spell book and use the spells you had saved into it?
Thank you! You don't even need to carry your spell book around, just leave it in the Thaumaturgy Bench, you only need it for upgrading your spells. And no, no one can take the spells from you, Spells are learnt as Knowledge (just like Feats). In case you loose your book, you can also recraft it at the Thaumaturgy Bench. Hope that helps.
The upgrade system of the Tome and how it's displayed is definitely not very clear, imo it should have different names, and maybe appearances based on upgrade level.

Oh, hehe. Well, not everything in the game is very self-explanatory, so it will take some time to figure out some of the mechanics and some trial and error (or googleing 😆). Not really, the meter fills up based on general activity by you or your Clan, like killing mobs, building, etc. A Purge can trigger once you reach roughly 75% on the meter.
Tyvm for the great videos Pixelcave. You mentioned the Illusion spell for items and gear. Does this spell have a time limit? Does it last until you change or remove it? or is it permanent until you dispel it? just wondering, ty
Basically it alters the item you’re wearing into the look you want and it done through the table not a spell. I don’t think there’s a time limit but it puts a symbol to let you know it has the illusion
Might be unrelated but do you no any about the egg shaped thing with tentacles coming which spawn locust looking humanoid enemies? Pretty vague description but haven’t seen anything online about it.
It's one of the new random events that you may encounter in the world. Hit the eggs and kill the mobs that spawn until a final bigger boss appears. We're planning on making some videos about these events soon. May I ask where you encountered it?
@@Pixelcave Pretty sure it was scavenger s berth black hand camp, was going there to get some early thralls but that didn’t end well haha. Looking forward to the video! It was really cool enemies where super tough good loot though as long as you can kill one and escape haha

No, you can't, max corruption is 50%. But you can lower your HP quite substantially, at least temporarily, when using Transportory Stones or the Summon Corpse ritual (temporary up to 99% corruption) - which means you're constantly living on the edge.
There are no classes in this game in general, you can technically be anything you want to be. You can choose and wear any armor and weapon and that will of course influence your playstyle. Sorcery spells need to be unlocked as explained, but you could technically be an axe wielding barbarian and only ever use some of the beginner spells occasionally - or even just build the Sorcery bench you learn at the very start and use it for creating armor illusions (transmogs). So it's really down to you how much or how little you want to learn Sorcery wise - but yes, unlocking all Spells/Rituals etc., is a bit of a journey.
When I go into the cave and get past those creatures the rest is glitched out and I’m on Xbox one. Then I call and get sent back to the desert, idk why it’s glitched but I can’t get the staff. Is there any other way to get the staff?
When Age of Sorcery launched, there have been issues on console with the cave, but this has been fixed since a while and it's weird that you are experiencing the glitch. Maybe a returning/new bug with one of the latest patches? I'd suggest posting it in bug category of the official forums to get some eyes on it. I don't believe you can get the basic Sorcery skills elsewhere, so that's a problem.
Not if you reset your attribute points, then everything gets back to normal and you can either spend points to increase attributes normally or corrupt them again if you wish to.

I played testlive for about 50 hours i'm level 60 and i never encountered a single sorcerer with the map!!! Of course i know where to go but it would not cheat and find the map before 🤣. Is it bad luck ?, am i doomed because i said that sorcery was not really interesting me ??
Hm, that sounds really unlikely - or extremely bad luck... but I can't imagine that actually. Are you sure you checked the satchels they drop? The map is inside a satchel, it doesn't drop on its own.
@@Pixelcave The problem is that i have found many altars and locations like the previous Darfari one with the drums. I could see a big thing in the sky but the location was completely empty. Near Sepermeru there is also some Skelos cultists with the same kind of event, but i could not find any sorcerer with a map, just the usual junk. I saw also many altars with books and stuff but no sorcerer nearby! I could just find a scroll that is part of a spell i guess.
How do you get the corruption look? I am maxed on corruption points meaning I have all 60 into heavy,vitality, and authority and still nothing is really showing up but dark veins how do you get the glowing part is my question?

Apologies for the stupid questions, but can ps4 players help please? I have completed Conan Exiles, but wish to play Age of Sorcery and I so when I switch on my ps4 and go to continue my solo game there is no change to the map and it’s content that I can see. Do I need to start the game all over again please? What do I need to do. Many thanks if anyone can help.
Whatever game you start, single player or official server, Sorcery is available in the game. Simply go to the location we show in the video and unlock Basic Sorcery, then take it from there. The map hasn't changed drastically, but you find sorcerer NPCs you can kill in various camps, as well as some deco here and there. We are currently in a new Age, the Age of War, but you can still learn Sorcery and all associated spells and knowledge, like e.g. Golem Crafting.

Can't really speak from experience, but I know that console players have had issues with invisible animals/bosses and potentially foliage since many months now - Funcom said this should finally be fixed when AoW Chapter 2 releases. PS4 in general seems to have a quite a few issues, lag included - maybe you've been lucky so far on single player, but there are many reports from players on official servers. You might want to have a look at the official forums if there are others with comparable issues.
Sorcery launched as a free update to the game and will remain a permanent feature. Every new Age introduces some major new features to the game (for free), Age of Sorcery introduced Sorcery and later Golem Crafting, and the next Age of War will introduce something else again (coming June 22).
The update hasn't been released yet, but if you are on PC you can try it on the Public Test Server (Testlive). Release has been announced for the third quarter of this year, so a couple of weeks (unless it gets delayed).
The Sorcery update is free (if you have the game already). The thing that cost money, but are completely optional are the Battle Pass and Item Store they added.
There have been quite a few issues after the update, depending which platform and server you play on there might still be some problems. The official forum is a good place to see if others have similar issues like you or to report bugs if needed.
The update has not been officially released yet, but if you play on the Testlive version on PC (the Public Test Server) it should be there, and you don't need the map.
No problem. Yes, if you want to play on Testlive you need a separate install (if you have the space). You can find it in your Steam game library as "Conan Exiles - Testlive Client".
I believe they sped up the casting animations a tiny bit since we've made this guide, but overall - yes, Sorcery in Conan Exiles is not some fast spells you're casting on the fly. Definitely not for everyone.

The devs said that Sorcery is seen more as a utility in this game, not as something where you can quickly cast extremely powerful spells in combat. I guess from a role-playing perspective it's quite immersive, but in the end it is quite cumbersome as you said. So the way how Sorcery is implemented in Conan Exiles might not be for everyone.

Just did more testing. Items must match for the illusion. Like a helm must be used for helm or a greatsword must be used for greatsword

having an issue where I have all the materials for upgrading the book but it does not left me craft the upgrade for the book for some reason

Problem solved by reinstalling the game completely, i must have had a corrupted file, maybe it's the new corruption thing in the game that caused it!😅

Whatever game you start, single player or official server, Sorcery is available in the game. Simply go to the location we show in the video and unlock Basic Sorcery, then take it from there. The map hasn't changed drastically, but you find sorcerer NPCs you can kill in various camps, as well as some deco here and there. We are currently in a new Age, the Age of War, but you can still learn Sorcery and all associated spells and knowledge, like e.g. Golem Crafting.

Can't really speak from experience, but I know that console players have had issues with invisible animals/bosses and potentially foliage since many months now - Funcom said this should finally be fixed when AoW Chapter 2 releases. PS4 in general seems to have a quite a few issues, lag included - maybe you've been lucky so far on single player, but there are many reports from players on official servers. You might want to have a look at the official forums if there are others with comparable issues.

Sorcery launched as a free update to the game and will remain a permanent feature. Every new Age introduces some major new features to the game (for free), Age of Sorcery introduced Sorcery and later Golem Crafting, and the next Age of War will introduce something else again (coming June 22).
Much better than some weirdo who was begging for likes just to show a corrupt character model, thank you.
how to get the update?
The update hasn't been released yet, but if you are on PC you can try it on the Public Test Server (Testlive). Release has been announced for the third quarter of this year, so a couple of weeks (unless it gets delayed).

It's a spell you unlock with the 9th upgrade of your Tome of Kurak "Conceal Corruption". Hope that helps!

The Sorcery update is free (if you have the game already). The thing that cost money, but are completely optional are the Battle Pass and Item Store they added.

There have been quite a few issues after the update, depending which platform and server you play on there might still be some problems. The official forum is a good place to see if others have similar issues like you or to report bugs if needed.

The update has not been officially released yet, but if you play on the Testlive version on PC (the Public Test Server) it should be there, and you don't need the map.

No problem. Yes, if you want to play on Testlive you need a separate install (if you have the space). You can find it in your Steam game library as "Conan Exiles - Testlive Client".

Helpful video, but the magic is too slow to really be useful.
I believe they sped up the casting animations a tiny bit since we've made this guide, but overall - yes, Sorcery in Conan Exiles is not some fast spells you're casting on the fly. Definitely not for everyone.
Its too bad they didn't make an option available to go Light or Dark with sorcery. Perhaps in the future.

That's what we thought initially as well. While we still think it could be improved, we slowly got more and more used to. But yeah...
@@Pixelcave the old method was faster. I'm not liking the idea of having to click a button to open a pop-up window constantly to build vs the old quicker method. The new method it like a chore just not enjoyable
Wish it was just left on the D-Pad myself rather than a quick button to the store and other crap, the hammer is completely unnecessary because I actually like the new system myself

And I just updated the game after two yesrs not playing it and I went to solo offline to see the new updated but they remov admin so you won't be able to see all the shit pass and after I saw them the first thing I did is deleting the game haha no thanks

The devs said that Sorcery is seen more as a utility in this game, not as something where you can quickly cast extremely powerful spells in combat. I guess from a role-playing perspective it's quite immersive, but in the end it is quite cumbersome as you said. So the way how Sorcery is implemented in Conan Exiles might not be for everyone.
