I’ve searched for this exact content for 30 minutes and FINALLY found this video. Thank you. Trying to choose a stain color for pressure treated wood and this is very helpful.

Thanks for this, I wish ready seal made sample sizes. This was the next best thing. I was undecided between dark walnut and pecan for a new cedar fence. Very helpful video.

Hello there , professional fence builder here. It is a great product it seems to work best of cedar products just FYI for anyone looking into this. Also I highly highly recommend a 2nd heavy coat 6 weeks later. It will get you closer to the color and look immaculate.

This is amazing, wish I found this sooner! I have a much older cedar deck, and the wood is sooo dark now, but hey, this is an amazing product. Now I have to figure out what color to go with my cedar sided home ;)

put some sodium metasilicate on it to restore the wood then oxalic acid to neutralize the ph, and brighten the wood making it look as original as new as possible!! then stain

Ready Seal's.........Natural- Light Oak 505, has a very appealing color shade on new, western red cedar fences. I believe there is a video here on YT showing that exact color applied on a cedar fence.

Why do the deck boards all look so much darker than the fence boards? Also if all 4 types of deck wood are included for each color stain, its a lot harder to tell that there are 4 different types.

I used it yesterday for my deck and it feels weird. Like i get a film on my hands from touching the wood. Hope its just still setting up and itll be fine in a few days

If you have excess just go over with a roller to soak up and spread out the product. The wood can only absorb so much. Just means you oversprayed or applied.

    • @justinfoltz8114

I am going to say, yes. Cedar and the oil in the wood seem to interact this way. It will age and change, so let it age see how it changes, and if its still orange, change it in the spring.

I just want a neutral, cooler-toned dark brown. Not too orange, not too red. I was thinking Dark Walnut because Pecan looked orange on my pergola. But Dark Walnut looks orange here?! Sigh ha :)

    • @coppulor6500
      @coppulor6500 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

There is way too much orange in all of their colors IMO. I would also like to see the back side of those tickets to see the quality of the cedar. If it's true Western Red cedar and high quality pickets that have no sapwood, then the dark walnut is passable. Otherwise, in my opinion, it looks pretty rough

Well, I see that these people don't care 2 cents about the people they make videos for.. just ignore them..
I will try to answer this question for you, but keep in mind that this guy could be a complete idiot and mean something completely crazy in terms of his whitewood..
"Whitewood" is a generic term that refers to construction-grade boards that may be pine, spruce, hemlock or fir. Which exact wood he used it a complete mystery lol.

This isn’t really very helpful without knowing what the wood types looked like BEFORE they treated it with ReadySeal!
This would have been a MUCH more useful video if they had simply included slats of unstained & untreated wood next to each test section (i.e., each of the three test groups should have had 4 extra flats wood - one unstained slat of each type of wood they chose - the “pressure treated wood”, the cedar, the “white wood” and the weathered wood).
Without knowing what the wood looked like BEFORE the ReadySeal was applied, it’s kind of useless to use this video as a reference (since each of those categories of wood have lots of different variations of what the base wood could look like).
