    I really love this stuff. Just put it on my cedar fence. 3 things.... 1) it goes on darker and fades lighter. 2) I used a roller to apply and a 2 inch brush to brush back the runs. ( I just don’t like seeing runs) 3) it DOES wipe off the poles easily.

    In Ireland/ UK we use concrete H posts. Overspray of any product would be unremovable. And we live like mice, all the semi detached houses squashed together, so outdoor spraying is kind of a no no as it will drift and your neighbours will go nuts. My neighbour sprayed his facia boards 3 doors up. My house buddy had a mist of fine white paint over one side of his new car the next day. After initially saying he would pay, and my buddy getting three paint repair quotes, he then said he wouldn't. It went to the local District Court 2 years later and the guy had to pay through the nose. Live and learn

      If there is a gap between your fence and your neighbors than you can use a roller and paint brush without having to worry about soaking all the way through the wood. If you do use a roller just make sure not to roll to quickly over the cracks as it might sling some onto your neighbors fence.

    • @texashomeimprovement

      you would only need to pressure wash or clean it if it's gotten really dirty. The cleaning you do on older wood fences is to get rid of some of the weathering that has discolored it. Ready Seal will penetrate into the wood so the surface doesn't have to be perfectly clean.

      To properly maintain wood, a light cleaning and recoat are recommended every 2 years on horizontal surfaces and every 3 to 4 years on vertical surfaces. Some hardwoods, such as Ipe, Garapa or Tiger Wood may need reapplication yearly. These extremely dense hardwoods do not readily soak up sufficient amounts of stain.

    I use ready seal but this videos title is totally wrong there's not everything you want to know for example applying darker color over a lighter color. I applied redwood but me and my girlfriend are definitely thinking mahogany due to not even a year on a horizontal surface which is the deck I have to redo it cuz it faded so bad. So I figure mahogany being it's darker should make it last a little longer if this doesn't last a year I'm going to discontinue with this product. All vertical services still had some color I did them ower anyway.. just let everybody know when you apply this stuff it's a lot darker and when it dries it gets lighter

      So you were able to apply a darker color on top of a lighter color? Did it turn out ok? I currently have a brand new mahogany stained pergola but I want closer to black without having to paint it.

      if you’re by neighbors close by, that shit would stink to high Heaven and be pretty dark as well. But if you’re in the back 40, sure, would seal just as well and who would care????

    The end result, even after it has all “run down and evened out,” is SO UNEVEN and blotchy and streaky, I would not be happy if this were my fence. I can’t tell if that result is intrinsic to the Ready Seal product or just the careless (as in “they don’t care”) application technique. This is the opposite of the kind of contractor I want to work with, for sure. Raise them standards, man.

    • @summere1609
      @summere1609 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What you saw wasn't evened out or run down yet, it was just starting to run down. You have to give a bit to allow the run and soaking in to the wood.

      Anyone wanting a solid color needs to choose a solid stain or just paint their fence. A stain will never not look streaky and blotchy.

    It is irresponsible of u to tell people to use any size tip to spray stain. Somebody is going to use a tip that is way to big an make a big mess . The manufacture has a tip size on the can. If u read it an if they dont they should refer to a local paint store for the proper size. Not a boxstore but a paint store lik sherwinwillams or ppg paints

    You’re supposed to back brush, staying after you spray it onto the surface, to work it into the wood, grain for proper adhesion and penetration, when you spray it on thick like that, and it’s all running and dripping, I highly doubt it blends in and Dries even

    • @stickbeard
      @stickbeard หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Ready Seal does NOT leave runs. I slopped it on my gate with a paint brush and I could see runs, but they blended back in almost instantly. I used a check Wagner sprayer and just blasted it on the fence, no runs or streaks. It is idiot proof :) Edited to add this was with the Cedar semi tint.

      Here's a link to that information on their website. It has what the coverage is per gallon based on the type of wood you're staining.
