A couple months ago, I saw a car driving on 17W in NY with the regular starlink dish secured to the top. It caused several drivers to drive next to it. I almost followed the car off the highway but I had an obligation.
Thank you for your helpful video. I just have a question. I just got a Starlink mini and it looks like it needs to be on an angle to "align" with the satellite. Is that a problem with the horizontal direction of the suction cups?
It won’t be a problem if it’s flat or angled. It has a 110 degree field of view, so it should be able to get a signal whether it’s flat or slightly angled, shouldn’t matter.
Thanks for the video! I have a VW jetta and was thinking of trying to mount it on the rear hatch glass and wondering if that would work. Curious if you could try mounting yours on the passenger window in your Tesla and seeing if you were able to get any service? That would be more vertical than my car but would be interesting to see if this would even work. Thanks!
I have a MSP. This will be nice. Thanks! I ordered it- How long does it take to get? Also, does your cig lighter 12V socket in your Tesla have enough power for the Mini and work ok? I too have a Rav4, so you’ve been a big help!!
It took a couple of weeks to get the mount. I believe the company is just one person 3D printing everything, so it’s a small operation. I looked up the specs of the 12V outlet in the Tesla and confirmed it outputs more than enough for the Mini’s max 60W consumption.
Nice video. the mini is 1.45 inches thick. when you mount with this mount what does the total thickness become from the glass to the back of the bracket.
I regularly follow and learn from your video that I find very instructional and useful. I am wondering if the Starlink mini will work I Haïti. Please let me know.
I have a Chevy Tahoe and the standard size Starlink is currently on sale for $299. I bought one but it only has the normal AC plug adapter for a wall socket. Could I use a Car Power Inverter 12v DC to 110v AC with Starlink? The inverter has dual AC outlets so I could plug the cord into that and then the DC end into my vehicle? I’m concerned about shorting my electric system in the vehicle or even the power adaptor for Starlink?
@@gastiresoil9758 Thank you so much for the reply. I’m new to Starlink and trying to learn more about installing in a vehicle. I can’t justify spending $500 for the mini when the standard is a fraction of the cost.
Takes less than 3 hours for the trip I was referencing in the video. Did I say 3-4 hours? Sometimes when recording you are thinking one thing but saying another!
Cool video but Questions unanswered: No demo? No throughput test? What was your speed test while driving behind glass? What was your latency behind glass? What is the comparison stationary behind glass to not behind glass?

Good content, as always. Congrats! Do you know if it's possible to change the service address (including the country) in the SL account in order to get cheaper monthly prices from other EU countries ? My case: I just got the Mini dish in Romania (my native and shipping country). When ordered 1 week ago, I chose for the 50gb Mini Roam plan wich cost 40 € pe month, like in all the EU countries. Anyway, I paused it until the dish arrived, so didn't use it at all. I am still in the 30 days return period. I would have chosen the unlimited Mobile Regional , but it cost 100 € in Romania (same in other 3-4 poor countries). Meanwhile, I found that the unlimited roam cost only 60€ in the majority of EU countries (especially wealthy ones). Now, I would change the service address to Italy, where the unlimited cost 60€, but I am not sure if that would block my access or not. What do you think? Thanks!
Starlink won’t allow you to change the country on the account, but you could wait the 3 month period to be able to transfer the dish to another account. Set up a new account and subscription for the new country. There is a risk Starlink would enforce the 2 month travel restriction like they have been in Africa.
@@StarlinkHardware , I think it's easier for me to return it, I am under 30 days since I got it. Then, will create a new account on italian address (my cousin's who lives in Rome), ship it there, activate it, then ship it to me in Romania. I will use it in my RV full time, in Europe, so I could send it back in Italy once every 2 monts to reset the period. Or just to cross the italian border if I am near, reset it, then leave again. Almost anywhere in Europe, I could find cheap airplane tickets to and from Rome (less than 20euro), so that could be an option, too. Thanks for your answer!
@@StarlinkHardware So if we were to place it on a cruise balcony that had a clear line of sight to open sky, it should work, correct? Oh, and assuming that the ship was within 12 miles of land. Is there a reason for the proximity to land requirement?

Hello, I think your starlink mini needs a car mount, and I have this product. If possible, I will give it to you for free, as long as you help me shoot a demonstration video.
Great video but while the concept is good, I’d be weary about something that could potentially become a projectile and seriously injure/kill front passengers in case of a collision …
Dogs, groceries, really anything not strapped or bolted down is dangerous. Luckily the headrest covers virtually all of my head from the perspective of the back area of the car.
Good luck then. This one has two significant things: one is the engineering to actually make it fit and lock into the Mini mounting area, and two is the quality suction cups designed to hold up under heat, etc. I have no doubt you'll be able find some half-a$$ed mount that falls off whenever you hit a bump.
Super helpful video! Cool to see the results you got. Thanks. How 3 suction cups and 2 straps cost $60 is beyond my comprehension. :)
You're awesome! I added that Amazon link to my favorite places for when I buy the mini dish.
Thanks! It was really wise for Starlink to use a standard DC power plug on the Mini. It really opens up options for 3rd party cables and adapters.

Wonder how good it will hold in a dumpy riding vehicle wanting to mount one to moon roof glass in Volvo semi truck

It's 3 inches from the glass to the bottom of the bracket that sticks down the farthest.

The Mini is available on the Global plan, so it should work just about anywhere.

This will work 100%. I pull around 75W-120W on my starlink. A 500W inverter would work perfect and be low strain on the inverter.

Can it be used when travelling cross continent, like from India to London in car EV .
Yep! The Roam service plans allow international travel for up to 2 months per trip.
@@StarlinkHardware nice.
Is there a maximum speed restriction for using Starlink on the go? Thinking about mounting it in an airplane.
Yes on the Roam plans. They actually just changed it, 100 mph (160 kph) is the new limit for in-motion on all Roam plans.
grazie mille , caso mai se avessi bisogno di altri chiarimenti posso disturbarti ancora ? Buon lavoro
My back hatch glass has resistive defrost. Will this degrade/block the Starlink mini if I mount under the defrosted area?
I did a test with my Gen 3 Standard dish under the defrost area of my hatch, and it worked fine. I don’t think you’ll have any issues!

Can you use the Starlink Mini Roam in your room during a cruise, such as a Disney cruise?
It would work if you had a clear line of sight to open sky, and if the ship was within 12 miles of land. Roam service doesn't work on the open ocean.
