I got my Rockhopper 2 months ago,it came with hydraulic brakes,it`s the large frame sport 29 and i LOVE it.
I have the same one. Smoking hot ride and economical!
Bought my Rockhopper in 2020 (lime green) and loving it! Just upgraded the pedals (One up components) to stop slipping and destroying my shins. Buying some thick grips next, and will just continue to enjoy the bike. Both are great choices for sure!! 💚💚💚💚

I went with specialized in a Matt charcoal gray color and it looks beastly. Rides so great and is ultra quiet.
I got the matt grey too,i think it looks much better than high gloss,classy bike all round.
Mine came set up with HYD brakes. They are worth it just for the better feel.
That new trek roscoe looks sick. Prices sure are getting crazy though haha.

I bought the rockhopper a few months ago and I am happy with it. The mechanical disc brakes are OK with me. I got the gloss red. It is very comfortable and rolls over objects, potholes, with ease. The front suspension on this bike are good enough for me. I paid $700 plus tax.
that is awesome!!! the biek still rides very nice and does what it is supposed to do, you spend the money you are geting all of your moneys worth out of it
I am between Marlin 6, Rockhopper comp, or co op 2.1. I will be doing pavement like 60% of the time. Mountain bike Trails 40%. What do you recommend? Is rockhopper good on concrete too? Keep in mind all I’ve had was a bike from Walmart
I`m in Scotland,i paid £600 2 months ago for the rockhopper sport 29,it has hydraulic brakes as standard,is that just in the UK?,i feel i got a lot of bike for the money.
Just got my 2022 specialized rockhopper size medium and I love it paid 700 but ending up getting better pedals so it was 794 with tax I will be upgrading my fork and the brakes to hydraulic
@@danielvargo4498 I don`t understand why your Rockhopper did`nt come fitted with hydraulic brakes?,i paid £600 3 months ago in the UK from TREDZ,i got the large frame and had to take 3 inches off the seat post,but i`m mainly commuting too so i wanted a more upright sitting position for better all round vision,it still rises more than i`d ever need though,i`m more than happy with it,it`s a pleasure to ride..and hydraulic brakes are awesome.
Can you actually do videos on mtb groupset hierarchy and best value and reliable groupset and from entry level mtb all the way to higher end?

I bought Marlin 5 m/l size. lithium grey. Love it. for me it is the nicest looking bike in the market of 2022 for 700 Euros . Also drives very nice.

i agree with you. it has better hardwear and better colour options than the rockhopper. boring black or grey yawn. you buy a nice buy you should celebrate it get a nice stand out colour.
Got a rockhopper comp in 2022 and I love it🤷♂️! But ended up upgrading the pedals and suspension forks.. should of got the rockhopper elite I guess! Fun bike

i have a trek marlin 5 for general messing about in this same blue /yellow frame great bike really is , and when i want bigger badder jumps i get on my specialized stump jumpers but yes the marlin 5 is a good enuf hardtail for all cross crountry riding its works well.

@@mihal3044 I went with the rockhopper expert 29. I love it. If you're doing strictly mountain bike you should consider the fuse comp but my rockhopper is great for everything
The Specialized looks fantastic in all-black & has a single-chain front, which is so nice! The Trek Marlin 6 has a single chain front but they want $819+ for it.
May I ask you: How tall should a man be to get a Large frame? Vs a small/medium?

No I just felt bad about the total rush getting told to take it down, so I just removed it for a little

Marlin 5 looks like a toy and my son’s Precaliber 24 with that sloping top tube but it looks fun. I have ridden several 2021/2022 rock hoppers and will like to try Marlin next time.
the sloing top tube is really only on the smaller sizes after that they get strait out

Money but more Bells and whistles but for a cheaper lighter bike without alot of extras with hidraulic brakes but he said a bike without hidraulics is better

@@GCPerformance18 blah blah blah oh my rock hopper is like soooo amazing cos its got specialized written on it, the marlin has shimano hardware, hydraulic brakes, lock out forks, better paint (on all models) and still comes in cheaper than your over greedy buying a label specialized . i own both a trek and specialized and there is NO comparison here which is the better bike to buy DUHH
The Specialized looks great but I think the Trek has better components.
That's b/c the Trek is Small which comes with bent in stand over tube which makes it ugly. The M and above come with a straight stand over pipe just like that specialized.

I feel like a lot of the comments would have gone a different way, had the Specialized been compared to the Black Marlin 5. It also seems like a few people don't know the Marlin 5 comes in black.

I'm need a bike for a 11 year old. Those 2 models are the most affordable but i'm not sure which one will fit the kid better.
they will both fit for sure, just make sure u get the right size bike but both have nice stand over clearence

I purchased the Rockhopper 29er for my 11 year old back in March and have no regrets. Solid bike and he loves it. We went with size small. Specialized website claims out of stock everywhere, but if you search dealers and start calling by closest first you’ll find one reasonable close. The SATIN CAST BLUE METALLIC / ICE BLUE looks sick in person.
Cheaper + hydraulic brakes + full shimano. And he says it’s based on looks. Hydraulic brakes alone should point you to trek. It’s like he only sells specialized or smth smh

The Trek offers a 2XSm with a 26in tire M/L intermediate size and a 2XL so their more flexible.

Marlin 5 with lock put and hydraulic brakes? That's a decent starter. I couldn't find marlins and ended up ordering a rockhopper 29, base model. Both are great starter bikes.
yea both are great but the trek does give a little bit nicer components compared to the rockhopper even though I do like the rockhopper frame better

It went together easily in less than an hour. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.

I had the Trek Marlin 7 and went to the Trek Roscoe 7. If i had to choose in between these two, I’d go for the rock hopper.

in all fairness theres clearly quite alot of specialized fanboys on this chanel. if you went somewhere else everbody would be raving about the trek marlin 5 alot more than the rockhopper. i think it really is down to own preference. ive got the marlin 5 in this same colour and its awesome really is but ive also got a full sus specialized stump jumper to which is very awesome so both brands do amazing bikes.
