#28 - Tackling the Cellar, Antique Wine Barrels & the Courtyard

- This week, Michael continues to tackle the 'cellar' rooms to see if we can make them into a habitable space. This means moving the wine barrels around -- but will the biggest one fit through the door?! We also tackle a wall in the courtyard together and all the pets join in!

Not sure about wine barrels, but when the bands get loose on wood butter churns (essentially, made same way as wine barrels), you fill them up with water. Let it soak in for 30/40 minutes. Then, remove the water. The water causes the wood to expand. When they dry our, the bands fit again. You oil & you're ready to go.

Your cat is so pretty and full of personality, and, of course, the dogs are adorable too. Good job with the render removal you two. Those barrels and that huge chest are so cool. I was surprised that the lumps and bumps in the floor are just compacted dirt, I was afraid they were going to be huge buried boulders!

What do those oranges taste like? They look amazing.
I'm afraid they're quite bitter 😩 hoping they'll sweeten up the longer they're on the tree. They were lovely last summer!
I know why you moved those barrels lol, you had to get your fix of chipping, even just a little.😂 Seriously, you've done so much heavy lifting in the last videos, but it shows, the place is looking absolutely stunning. Just getting it all cleared and bare is major.👍

Hola , estáis haciendo un trabajo estupendo. Mi consejo después de llevar 20 años luchando con la carcoma en una casa antigua , es que no dejes nada de madera que esté mínimamente afectada y en lo demás des un buen tratamiento anti carcoma . Parece que no queda nada y con el tiempo vuelven a aparecer , son una auténtica pesadilla.

Well guesstimated. Curious abt what’s rolling around inside the barrels, maybe the cover hatches? Wondering if any local rural properties have trees down from the storms that can be cut down and used as floor joists? If suitable. Community fb groups might know.
