#32 - An Emotional Week Putting in the First New Floor Joist & Saying Goodbye to the Staircase

- While it's a wonderful week of progress at our stone home renovation, it's a bittersweet one, too. As Michael gets to work installing the new floor joists he has to remove the rickety, rustic staircase we've all got a bit of a soft spot for. But, this has only made us more determined to put it to good use somewhere else.

A while ago you were asking why people is subscribing to your Vlog, for us it is very simple you are both such delightful what make it some easy to select "subscribed". We love to see what you are up to, and the dogs, it is always interesting, and presented with beautiful video of nature, and that great sense of humour you are showing. from a old couple from Canada and now in Panama. Sending you a bit of hot sun from here to help you to stay warm. Can wait to see that baby, the most future luckiest child to have you as parents.
Thank you so much 😊 no babies underway here though... Unless there's something we don't know 🤣 thanks so much again. Have a lovely weekend 💛
Anytime! Your new video was great!
Slow and steady work makes a difference at the end of the day
Thank you!! 🐢💪🏼
I say it is green and my husband said it is a blue tractor, good luck
If you can’t use the stairs as stairs then they’ll look great on the wall too as a nod to their former function. Like I said when you asked for ideas, the bookshelf or shelf shelf at half width will look great and be very useful. Imagine sanded and polished!
Definitely 😍 they'll be reused somehow! I do love the idea of a bookcase/shelving feature! Thank you!
@@PortugalonaPostcard or you can use it to display all the "Treasures" you have found in the house reno so far.
@@ronelsmith6906 Absolutely!! 😍
Love your channel, got hooked now I've watched them all! Longer videos..great stuff! Things are really coming along!
Oh thanks so much 💛 that means a lot!!
@@PortugalonaPostcard you have a very enjoyable channel! I enjoyed all of the videos..I found you and binged every morning until now I'm current with your videos.. great stuff! little longer maybe...
Thanks so much! 💛
Well done so far
Thank you!!
Cat content, especially one so beautiful, is always welcome.
😻 she's always happy to oblige! 💛
Well done your such an inspiration 😊
Ah thanks so much 😊
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys, good work 👍😀 don't forget to put stuff on the beams against insects that like wood 🐛.
Thanks so much 😍 take care xxx
Are the beams going to be exposed? If so please hand hue, distress and stain them!! Place it looking great!! Keep it up!!
They are hopefully! We definitely will 😊 just researching how to age them best!
You're doing a astonishing job man. Great stuff
Thanks so much 😊
Might be much better to make I-beams and that would allow you to run your existing wood the other direction and that way still have good wood after cutting the rotten parts off.
Thank you 😊
All the old houses have rotten wood and also they have woodworm.
I'm glad you use lime because that's the best for natural stone houses. I know cement is much cheaper but the stones can't breath then and thats necessary for them.
This is a lot of work to do, especially when you are on your own.
But you did an awesome job with the beams.
Thank you 😊 that means a lot!!
I truly miss watching more of your videos! I absolutely adore your paradise. Awesome job on everything your done and have done, can’t wait to see more❤
Ah, that's a lovely thing to say. Thanks so much 😊
Your very welcome.
Bon courage de Belgique ♥️♥️♥️😊🇧🇪
💛💛💛💛💛
I hope you rebuild the stair later...
We will 😊
If that were my place, I'd put the stairs back in.
Hopefully they'll be back in soon 😊
Thanks!
Thank you so much! ❤️ We appreciate it so much 😊
Wow, it’s happening!!!
It is....! 😱😍
what goes in the wall you need to protect it for the moist on the wood
Definitely! We'll treat them 😊
I really think you are doing a great job, the house is getting more and beautiful and you seem so committed!!! I just want to give a small, hopefully not too negative feedback : I personally feel that the music that is used for the fast motion does not support the otherwise very professional video making and presentation. Of course that’s a personal opinion but I’d be very happy to see you play around and try some other music one day 😉 and if not, that’s perfectly fine as well of course!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate the feedback too. It's good to hear 😊 I will have a look through the music for next week! ❤️
@@PortugalonaPostcard thank you very much for your response and for not being personally offended! 🙏🏻 I will be very happy to see what music will appear the next time that will support your always inspiring videos even more! All the best for you, your wife and the beautiful dogs! ☀️
The first to like 🎉
Thank you!! 🥳
Great progress! Epic Outtakes :) What is the new floor plan going to be?
Good question! 😅 At the moment, we think we'll have a bedroom and bathroom at the far end (overlooking the outbuildings) and open plan living space in the rest. But, that could change!! 💛
@@PortugalonaPostcard Whatever you decide I am sure it will be epic :)
Thank you 😘
А концы балок надо как то огрдить от камней, обмазать или обмотать?
We are going to treat them 😊
I don’t think those stairs want to be moved
Nope! Hopefully they will be back soon 😊
🇬🇷 🇬🇷 😊😊
💛💛🇵🇹🇵🇹
Honestly I didn't understand why you kept the big rotten beam you cut. It is short and not supportive now so not good for floor bases
We're thinking of using it as a feature 😊 purely decorative to show the original character of the room.
BS you always aim for perfection. I haven't ever seen you do anything not to perfection 😅😂
Haha! 😅 I (Becci) thought that same thing when I was editing that bit 🤣
Is this teaching video???
Haha 😅 absolutely not! It's a 'learning as we go' video!
I’m shocked you take such a casual attitude to your health and safety. Mice and rat droppings carry human life debilitating diseases. PLEASE at least wear gloves and a mask.
❤
