I got into Dragonball in the mid 90s and found bootleg fansubbed GT tapes at a store in Queens, NY. I hadn't even watched the Buu saga yet, so it was so alien to me. I remember showing it to friends who were just getting into Dragonball and they were so impressed xD great memories. Will always love and defend GT.
Toei being one of the few corporations to let Dragon Ball end (story wise) with one last send-off is so underrated. Especially since Toriyama was the one that decided to continue it.
To me, a great merit of GT is how it conceives itself as the very last chapter of Dragon Ball. It doesn’t pretend to be a different thing like Super. It just considers Dragon Ball as the unified tale that it actually is (there’s no “DB” and “DBZ” in the manga) and wonders what the last chapter of that tale could be about. Things like Kid Goku and Ssj4 all fit into this, as well as the Dragon Balls being a prominent plot point again. The end, like in the stories of all great heroes, must resemble the beginning. The weird kid with a tale who once spent his days guarding a Dragon Ball, which represented his heart, completes his long journey, returns to his roots and is ready to depart forever, with that same Dragon Ball now one and the same with his heart. I mean, come on! I know, flawed execution and everything, but the concept is just near perfect.
I like they brought back the osaru form which was completely forgotten about. And like you stated the sense of adventure. Actually searching for the dragon balls again.
People didn't deem GT non canon because people disliked it, GT was deemed non canon because DBS became a thing, in fact GT was very much canon before DBS existed.
Dragon ball GT is definitely has some call moments and characteristics that Super didn't have but definitely had way too many misses that overshadowed that great parts of it. Super Sayian 4 is by far my favorite transformation in the whole series. It had a lot of opportunities but missed the marks so many times. Man I wish we can have SSJ4 back.
One other thing I like was the final universe spirit bomb. It basically gave purpose to the early and worst parts of GT where they had to make friends everywhere, and in more places than actually shown. A small piece that elevated the entire series, at least a little.
I rate this video a 10/10..good job. I've been saying the same thing. This series makes way more logical sense than Super. How is Roshi a million times stronger in Super when he clearly passed the torch in Dragon Ball? The continuity of DB Super is contradicting.

I actually stupidly still love the English intro for GT.😂 And I love how Bra destroyed Vegeta’s confidence with his mustache. She may not be a fighter, but her words were strong enough to do damage.
SS4 has the most badass design, I love this much more than the rainbow SS we have now. Plus the ending man.... the ending with Dan Dan Kokoro Hikaretuku, man I remember getting so fucking emotional watching that ending.
My favourite reasons why each season was cool, despite many plots not executed better: Baby saga, the forms of super Baby combining the super saiyan power of Vegeta and Baby's mutation, Goku seen as SSJ4. Super 17 saga, the return of all the old villains. Shadow dragon saga, the character design of Omega-Shenron, Vegeta seen as SSJ4, Goku and Vegeta fusing into SSJ4 Gogeta
Things i liked: •how goku looked as ssj1 & 3 in his kid body •step into the grand tour song •baby saga •ssj4 •shadow dragons •goku grate ape transformation •ending song (blue velvet) •SSJ1 goku kamehameha on Super 17
I prefer Vegeta in GT over Super by a landslide. I really liked seeing him wear normal clothes in GT, unlike in Super where he has his Cell Saga armor. I feel like making him wear that armor in Super reverted some character development as he wore normal clothes in the Buu Saga since he became more human. And people will say that he only wore normal clothes because no armor is allowed in the tournament. But before and after the Tournament he's still wearing normal clothes
@Sun Wu-Entai 90 literally he was wearing normal clothes since he came to to stay in the earth but ppl forget about that and act like its somehow a progression to his character when he was wearing them when he was still evil plus in Super he wears normal clothes as well when he isn't fighting
@Sun Wu-Entai 90 well when Mecha Frieza came Bulma was washing his armor so he was forced to wear normal clothes. And I would say when Trunks went back to the Future at the end of Cell was when he started to transition to more of an Earthling, since he did say he wouldn't fight again after Goku died (which we all know was a lie)
i agree making the dragon balls into villains was a brilliant plot twist. they'd relied upon them for years & now they're paying the price. also 4 is the best thing ever & i continue to wait to see if & when super will finally adapt it.
Yes, SSJ4 makes way more sense! It looks dope as hell, highlights the power of their heritage (it creates clothes out of nothing but even that has precedents in the series), it's not a divine gift that is soon rendered useless and caught up even by mere earthlings...
One thing i forgot is that that Kami wanted Goku to be his replacement, the guardian or god of earth. And what happens at the end of GT? He becames the Guardian of the Dragon Balls. He takes responsability for using the Dragon Balls he and Bulma are the ones responsible for The dark dragons rampage but also as thanks to the dragon balls making all his journey possible. Maybe thats why it feels so fitting as an ending. Only thing missing is having an scene with bulma saying goodbye to her, or Bulma realizing something was off.
would love if they took the Baby saga and re-did it in the next super series. I find anything to do with Saiyan lore/history really interesting. a last remnant of the tuffles trying to kill goku vegeta and their kids would be a great smaller scale story after the crazy god/end of existence stuff in the last super series. would also love for them to get away from some of the god transformations and in bring in super saiyan 4. could re-vamp it and combine it with the golden ape form (basically super saiyan 4 with gold instead of red fur) and call it something like super saiyan primal
They screwed up not making ssj4 part of the Z universe after all this time. Now we're stuck with gods instead of apes. It's like they just made a weird turn.
darrius williams Baby&Goku Black execution were Decent both fell a bit in the second half & apart from the Goku Black Arc, DBS had litterally no story concepts
Vegeta in GT makes more sense than Super. In the end of Z Vegeta’s basically like “yeah I’m done chasing you Kakarot, whatever ig.” And Gt carries that out fully.. but right away we get Vegeta all like “I’m gonna be stronger than you Kakarot! *Saiyan Pride!”*
To further reinforce this, the Vegeta from most of Z and Super would never had done what GT Vegeta did to attain SSJ4; we would have been too prideful to use a machine to "assist" his way into it. Instead, GT Vegeta was much more pragmatic and realized that his pride wouldn't be worth much if everything was destroyed. Plus, he's even the one to suggest using fusion to beat Omega, which is something we'd never see with the Z or Super versions.
@@schemar17 bruh what😂 How does vegeta cheat to gey power? In contrast to goku, vegeta has always gotten stronger his own way: He didnt cheat to get SSJ He trained to get SSJ2 He trained to get SSGSSB without touching SSG And mastered SSGSSB. I never liked that Goku was turned back into a kid for the entirety of the series. But I do completely agree with the Finale aspect of DBGT. That ending really stood out because of how realistic it was in conveying the fact that life goes on. That and SSJ4 are the best things about GT.
In a bit of a turn, I actually really like GT. I like the whole gimmick of Goku turning into a kid again, and the main cast. Although some may complain about the show, I really like it. Don’t even get me started on Dan Dan, but overall I really do like GT. Especially the ending, with Goku getting his 2 most iconic items, the power pole and flying nimbus, and flying off. I also really like how they implemented a Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. to end it all off. Overall GT, to me, was a good end to Dragon Ball, and overall had Good Arcs, with Baby and the Shadow Dragons. Although I’m not the best to talk about if a show is good, I love every Dragon Ball series, GT tried many risks, and I liked them.
I'm odd I like to think both are canon just in a different dimensions. As for the forms I like to think SS4 is the brawn based form and God forms ae the energy based forms.
Super Saiyan 4 always made me wonder what other transformations could be possible if Goku and Vegeta never lost their tails. Too bad that was never explored.
Super Saiyan 4 is a GEM of a transformation. Super was all like "Hey guys! Lets give the saiyans a transformation specifically meant for a saiyan with god ki for some reason!!" while GT went for a more primal route, making the most Saiyan-based transformation of them all. The personality change on Goku is probably my favorite thing about it, but the design alone is far better than Super Saiyan God, Blue, Blue Evolved, or "Rage". The only new form that I could put on SS4's level is Ultra Instinct. A fellow badass transformation, but in design I'd still have to give the point to SS4. This one is heavily biased though because I always disliked how Mastered Ultra Instinct made Goku's hair white, it never made any sense to me. Why does it turn your hair white when it's basically a universal transformation, and not all races have the same luscious locks that Goku has, and why does "moving without thinking about it" make you punch 1000x times harder?
I love that I grew up with the latin american dub and we got the original japanese music. No need to add a brand new soundtrack. And it had such a big impact with 90's kids that nowadays a lot of mexicans choose this intro theme to play at the entrance of their weddings. I feel in the US it didn't have a big of an impact because of the ok dubbing and changing the soundtrack altogether. It didn't have the same emotional punch.
My favorite thing about the Shadow Dragons was *how* the wishes impacted the Dragon Balls. It wasn't just making the wishes in itself, it seemed to draw from the idea of karma; since so many of the wishes made by the cast weren't overly selfish to varying degrees (although I think one could argue about that in the case of reviving their friends, both for selflessness and selfishness), negative karma was built up almost like a counterbalance. Unless I'm misremembering this, it's been a while. I probably am, and maybe giving it a bit more credit than is actually due. What's a Google? A search engine? Can I ride on it?
While it's cool that Vegeta accepted not being number one, it's a shame that came at the expense of him not really being useful in GT outside of unwittingly being the main villain of the first season.
Gt has and will always do everything for me. The ending even as an adult still gets me. Its a great series with a couple flaws but its overall fun to watch.
I liked how GT brought back and incorporated the giant ape form into its story, instead of acting like it never existed. The more I think about it, the more I realize I liked GT a lot more than super.
Totally agree with the Ape form And even if they didn’t bring the giant form they at least kept the lore with SS4. I don’t like how I’m super Ss3 has Goku having some ape features in the face then SSGOD is just base Goku with dyed hair
@@ATHTSupply SSG isn't that bad, it's thinner and skimmer, and just has an overall calmer aura, as God Ki is more refined than regular Ki. Super Saiyan Blue on the other hand is god awful.

I honestly never really hated GT when I was younger and it was coming out and I had grown up on the Bruce Faulconer score era of DBZ, I never really loved it like I did Z but I still remember having fun watching a new episode every morning before school for like a year or two and I fucking loved the SSJ4 form from the budokai tenkaichi games already so seeing it in the show was sick as hell and I liked alot of the fights and the intense atmosphere with the end battles especially and the colors and atheistic it had were pretty nice. I still can't hold it in the same regard as Z but GT had its own qualities that are worth watching if you're a fan
I loved the adventure and exploration of the show. Though I did wish Trunks did a bit more fighting and used super saiyan but considering he’s not future trunks it makes more sense. One of my favorite things was the evil in the dragon balls and the consequences of using them too much. Because it was always oh someone died use the dragon balls and finding them wasn’t hard anymore because with the dragon radar and everyone’s power levels nothing on earth was a threat or hard to get to. The traveling to unknown planets throughout the galaxy changed that . But more importantly having consequences for the dragon balls made them interesting and not just a gimink
I only like 5 things about GT 1. Uub’s concept 2. Ssj4 3 Goten and Trunks actually aging (lookin’ at you Super) 4. Baby Vegeta 5. Seeing Kid Goku go Ssj1-3

At least it's not a 10 year old fanfiction like super.
I loved SSJ4. They brought back the concept with Broly but I love the form’s aesthetic. For in line with the primal nature of the Saiyans.
GT is complicated. It's not true to say GT is either good or bad, because it's both! Great vid.
*Super Saiyan 4* Including the Villains: *Baby Vegeta* And *Shadow Dragons* Is the Best Thing About GT
GT ending had me so emotional as a kid I tried to move on to AF lol
People didn't deem GT non canon because people disliked it, GT was deemed non canon because DBS became a thing, in fact GT was very much canon before DBS existed.
So true
I pretend Super doesn't exist and that GT is the true ending
@@Anxmaly666
Same. GTs ending was the series conclusion for me.
@Anxmaly Same here i watch DBZ and GT while ignoring Super entirely
@@chadgrimes252 why? Super is made by akira like dbz is
Dragon ball GT is definitely has some call moments and characteristics that Super didn't have but definitely had way too many misses that overshadowed that great parts of it. Super Sayian 4 is by far my favorite transformation in the whole series. It had a lot of opportunities but missed the marks so many times. Man I wish we can have SSJ4 back.
Goten is a pervert? Why, because he's good with women?
One other thing I like was the final universe spirit bomb. It basically gave purpose to the early and worst parts of GT where they had to make friends everywhere, and in more places than actually shown. A small piece that elevated the entire series, at least a little.
One of the benefits of being a Canadian DBGT viewer was that I didn't have to hear "Welcome to the grand tour"
The English intro was hard af. And SSJ4 damn near is the true SSJ form, with the way vegeta explained it on namek back in the Frieza saga
I rate this video a 10/10..good job. I've been saying the same thing. This series makes way more logical sense than Super. How is Roshi a million times stronger in Super when he clearly passed the torch in Dragon Ball? The continuity of DB Super is contradicting.
I remember tearing up at holiday walking through the crowd with the video montage, a great ending. I’m still hoping we see Super Saiyan 4 against Moro
I dunno why everyone was so butthurt over GT, it was a great version of the story and had some of the best battles.

Couldn’t agree more. GT was FAR from perfect but the ending was great, evil dragons were awesome, and SS4 is my all time favorite form too.
I actually stupidly still love the English intro for GT.😂
And I love how Bra destroyed Vegeta’s confidence with his mustache.

All of the licensed Japanese pop-rock was incredibly unfitting and yet absolutely beautiful and glorious.
I cried at the end of GT 😭
My favourite reasons why each season was cool, despite many plots not executed better:
Baby saga, the forms of super Baby combining the super saiyan power of Vegeta and Baby's mutation, Goku seen as SSJ4.
Super 17 saga, the return of all the old villains.
Shadow dragon saga, the character design of Omega-Shenron, Vegeta seen as SSJ4, Goku and Vegeta fusing into SSJ4 Gogeta
You'll shit bricks when you realize Goku and his wacky highschool adventures in Dragonball Evolution is essentially Goten's character in GT.
Things i liked:
•how goku looked as ssj1 & 3 in his kid body
•step into the grand tour song
•baby saga
•ssj4
•shadow dragons
•goku grate ape transformation
•ending song (blue velvet)
•SSJ1 goku kamehameha on Super 17

I remember buying GT VHS at Dollar General that had about 3 episodes on each tape. Watch them alllll the time
People who don't like GT are the same people that like dragon Ball heroes some how
Sun Wu-Entai 90 I just don’t like heroes but gt is decent
Everyone says GT is bad but if it was so bad, why is it still the best intro theme?
Gt is what made me a dragon ball fan so it has a special place in my heart.
There are more Good things about GT than Super.
When super made a bad move... it was a huge Bad move... eg. KEFLA etc.

I loved GT. Especially for anyone watching this 20+ years ago. Oh how that times have changed lol
i agree making the dragon balls into villains was a brilliant plot twist. they'd relied upon them for years & now they're paying the price. also 4 is the best thing ever & i continue to wait to see if & when super will finally adapt it.
Yes, SSJ4 makes way more sense! It looks dope as hell, highlights the power of their heritage (it creates clothes out of nothing but even that has precedents in the series), it's not a divine gift that is soon rendered useless and caught up even by mere earthlings...
Except for the part where a laser beam can give you the form...
Dan Dan Kokoro was put into a rerelease of the GT Dub probably because of how many people disliked the rap song intro
would love if they took the Baby saga and re-did it in the next super series.
Glad that you guys acknowledge the goods things about GT.
They screwed up not making ssj4 part of the Z universe after all this time. Now we're stuck with gods instead of apes. It's like they just made a weird turn.
Gt and super had really good concepts but the execution was the worst ever
darrius williams Baby&Goku Black execution were Decent both fell a bit in the second half & apart from the Goku Black Arc, DBS had litterally no story concepts
Agreed. GT had the best ending concept for the series. I don't think they'll think of a better one.
@@Chimpbot wtf is your ass talking about? Vegeta always cheats to get power

Great video And true The ending of gt make me cry everytime
Goku is a horrible father and husband. He abandoned his family his entire life and have never once felt bad about it.
Although I’m not the best to talk about if a show is good, I love every Dragon Ball series, GT tried many risks, and I liked them.
here's something GT had another english opening that was a translation of the Japanese one sung by Vic Mignogna himself
very well put. loved this video
Great video.. I like when GT gets the props it deserves.
Baby is a legendary villain.
When you have this SS4 Goku, Baby, Super 17, etc how the hell do u hate GT? Oh wait "Its not cannon." Only Reason.
GT > Super
Not to mention it actually aged up Goten and Trunks. And it has an older Pan who is badass
I liked how GT brought back and incorporated the giant ape form into its story, instead of acting like it never existed.
The more I think about it, the more I realize I liked GT a lot more than super.
Totally agree with the Ape form
And even if they didn’t bring the giant form they at least kept the lore with SS4.

@@ATHTSupply understandable. What's your opinion on SSB Kaioken X20?

Every interaction between Vegeta and Goten

Nova Shenron was the best! I wish they would've wished him back at the end of GT.
Goku going from a kid to an adult always gave me captain marvel vibes
