Agreed. The power ups came from something important. Can’t say the same for Super that had terrible power scaling with first two power ups were quickly forgotten and only brought up less in the Tournament of Power ark.
Not really. They actually corrected a shit ton of GT’s flaws. And unlike gt, the series actually gets better over time. But ofc some things come with some of their own issues. Ex. Like certain power ups to make other characters relevant. But I’d take that ALL DAY vs. them being completely nonexistent and irrelevant, and everything being about goku.
@@leultrainstinct406 nah supers nothing but lazy transformations that are meaningless in 2 episodes, terrible plotline and character regression. battle of the gods was cool, RoF was shite and i still cant decide if the tournament of power was worse than the goku black arc
@@leultrainstinct406 Super has transformations which are just hair them dying there hair different colour, bad animation, lazy story telling, bad designs and power scalping is messed up
@@leultrainstinct406 Dragon Ball GT turned Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z into a story. Dragon Ball super doesn't have a story because all it is is just setting up for the next big fight in every Saga with no consequences or connective tissue into. You could tell me the plot of every Saga but you couldn't tell me the plot of the entirety of Dragon Ball super unlike Dragon Ball gt. Dragon Ball GT is a natural progression of Dragon Ball Z by not making the characters as relevant as they can be. Just like in the Majin Buu saga and even the cell Saga sure the characters were there but they've been reduced to just Witnesses of death and sidelined. In the tournament of power their contribution doesn't push anything. It's just a fight. Like sure it's good to see them fight but what does it actually amount to? The torment of power just gives them something to do until it is Goku time again. Even Vegeta in Dragon Ball super especially in the manga has been reduced to getting beat up for Goku and that even made a transformation based on Vegeta getting beat up for goku. The series might get cooler over time but it doesn't get better over time because it's just gearing up for one big fight. There's no story in Dragon Ball super.
@@refth6893 true lol lmfao most of any arc in Dragon Ball was about Goku except the cell tournament other than that almost every fight Goku has won so I never understood the big deal with dragon Ball gt I freaking love Super Saiyan 4 best transformation to date besides maybe Super Saiyan God gogeta but other than in ya Super Saiyan 4 is the best. I'm not a huge fan of DBSuper people complain how dumb Goku can be well DBSuper Cranks that up to him almost being retarded doesn't take anything seriously Frieza blows up Earth cause of him.
It’s always makes me wonder if Toriyama’s involvement in super is highly exaggerated, he was needed to give the series legitimacy and not repeat the GT situation.
I honestly think his name is just to sell it. I highly doubt that he is even involved in the story after Golden Freeza and even up to this point only as a supervisor at best. But as you already said it, they needed the legitimacy to say Super is canon while GT is not.
Nah. It’s simple as this: he provides outlines for important parts of the story and toei writers fill in the gaps for the anime, And Toyotaro fills in the gaps for the manga And with broly and the new movie coming out, he wrore the entire scripts which are canon to the story. That alone is enough along with character designs, is more than enough to consider it canon. Whereas with gt, toriyana was done but toei got too money hungry. The most he ever did was provide designs for characters and planets. But like he said himself “a grand side story” on par with the non canon movies
If toei and Disney came together, so many companies would be consumed. Dreamworks, Universal, Sony, even Warner Bros. As for anime studios, with Disney footing the bill, a bunch of those would be consumed as well. they may not go for some of the more hardcore anime companies like Madhouse, but the more child friendly ones would be bought up. (Like Ghibli) Disney is a shark and if they can, they will strike.
@@Gashnaw Disney NEEDS to be stopped. First it was ABC; which was fine, because that gave us ABC Kids w/Scoolhouse, Reboot, and Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show as well as 1Saturday Morning. It’s beyond stupid that Toei would forget how Super Saiyan works. I’m no hater when it comes to GT and Pan. But there were indeed problems. I wished Piccolo would’ve got more screen time, get a fighting role and an episode or two that’ll entirely focus on him and give us a break from seeing Goku & Pan. The shadow dragon arc could’ve expanded more same goes for Super 17 arc. The character designs I like in the Shadow dragons arc are Nova, Eis, Oceanus & Omega. I didn’t like the rest of the shadow dragons. And I honestly wished that other characters had a role in that arc instead of just Goku & Pan by themselves.
DBGT wasn't really that bad, there could of been more ways to improve GT, plus it was good to see goku as a kid again, it was cool to see goku go ssj1-3 as a kid too. but at some point in the series he could of been wished back into an adult. ssj4 was a powerful transformation, but he could of gained another form in GT. Vegeta on the other hand could of also went ssj3 for all thoses years he has been training. Vegeta had good clothes at least but the moustache looked really weird on him. But at some point Vegeta needed to retire his armor at some point. At least you we saw character development in trunks and goten, plus bulla and pan. It was a disappointing to see that goten and trunks didn't fuse. Goku stop goten and trunks from fusing into gotenks which was kinda of messed up. GT had good villains but they could of added more content to it. plus they could at least slow down on each season sorry it took to long this is all i have
The thing that always frustrated me is how the other characters not named Goku does absolutely nothing in the show even during parts that they clearly should have been used but were ignored because Goku Time. It's this kind of idiotic thinking that would come back to bite Dragon Ball in the ass when Super was made.
Dragon Ball GT, Awesome ideas with often poor execution. My biggest gripe about GT, how the heck did they forget about Senzu Beans? My 2nd biggest gripe was the shafting of every character who wasn't Goku or Pan (who they didn't even have go Super Saiyan) with a few exceptions like Trunks & Vegeta. Baby made the right choice when choosing Vegeta, & let's not forget how he went Super Saiyan 4 & then fused with Goku to fight Omega Shenron. My 3rd Biggest gripe was the refusal to have Goku be significantly weakened by being turned into a child. My 4th Biggest Gripe was how short the series was.
I'd put GT in the net negative. Super had heartwarming character interaction, dire consequences, adorable gags, and actual suspense and intrigue. Sure, you knew everything was going to be OK in the end due to End of Z still being ahead, but you never knew how. There was always a curve ball, some character doing something you never expected them to do. GT... it was there. And everyone was annoying. Goku, Pan, Giru, Baby, everyone. What I want to do instead is shelve Goku. While he's off training Uub, take this chance to delve into other characters and tell their stories. Toriyama wouldn't do this any more than he would cut off his own foot. But since he let other characters kill off big bads at times, I think it's fine to let Goku sit back and smile while Goten and Trunks power up to Rage form and fight, I dunno, Dabura's son or whatever Zen-oh hated about those six universes he deleted. Look, focusing on character motivation makes it hard to write villains psychopathic enough to want to kill.
There were no consequences in Dragon Ball super. After every Saga they just use the Dragon Balls to heal everything up. In Dragon Ball GT that we introduced the Dragon Balls as being an integral part of the story and they turn the entire series of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z when they use the Dragon Balls as something that is not taking away consequences but it creates a consequence in the end in the form of The Shadow dragons. Dragon Ball super just gears up for the next big fight. You couldn't tell me what Dragon Ball super was about. It's just another Majin Buu saga.
GT is why I want Super to go past the end of Z already, so we could see the next generation done right! Your video pretty much said everything that needed to be said.
The Next Generation cannot be done right because they already tried with the Majin Buu saga. The only reason Dragon Ball came back was to create more money on their 20th anniversary through Dragon Ball Kai because people like big explosive flashy fights and power-ups so it was more marketable than dragon ball. Then comes Dragon Ball super which does the exact same thing. Instead of telling a story it just gives up for the next Saga and their big fight. They add pointless lower that stays isolated in the specific saga. There is way too much money to be made by having Goku and Vegeta get a new form. As for already created characters while just like Dragon Ball Z has established they move on and retire. They cannot fight forever. There's more to life than just fighting. Even in Dragon Ball super they sort of do this. Instead of 10 training all the time he creates a school and passes down his knowledge to a new generation. Instead of Krillin fighting all the time he goes back into retirement and becomes a cop to better support his family. Piccolo even admitted he cannot keep up with Goku and Vegeta but of course the plot has to boost his power to give them potential and an orange form through Shenron so he can fight Cell Max. It doesn't matter how you think about Dragon Ball super and Dragon Ball GT because at the end of the day Dragon Ball GT was more believable then Dragon Ball Super.
When you have a character as strong as goku all the other characters are useless. This is what Bleach did really well, every character was a badass in their own unique way.
@@tepes6563 Yea because they improved themselves alot. Ichigo oddly surpass them but didn't at the same time. In a 2nd fight they would of beat him at that time. Plus hes a hybrid and the captains are regular.
@@ELECTRICKEN True, but it's awesome that being "regular" doesn't affect them when it comes to power scaling. Ichigo definitely has his advantages as a super hybrid, but the captains all manage to keep up with their bankai and other methods like Sajin's humanification.
Another thing in GT along the lines of Super Saiyan was there was so many times where they could've just flown to get away from issues but they just run or fall of tall buildings lol
@Jiren The Gray super is dogshit. we literally se krillen with no explanation force goku who has the power of ssg absorbed into his base to go ssj. the people in charge of super haven't just done bad power scaling they didn't do power scales at all they just make whatever fan service they think will make them money and give 0 thought to how these characters relate. they didn't even bother giving jiren a personality or having a worthwhile ending for the gokublack arc. was gt perfect? no was z perfect? neither were close to the dumpster fire that is super. "An author's ability to solve conflict with magic/tech/whatever is directly proportional to how well the reader understands said magic/tech/whatever." good powerscaleing is what allows us to understand whats happening. thats why transformations even exist. as a way for us to understand the character transforming is stronger now. think about how lame it would be if goku was getting beaten up by frieza and just started wining for seemingly no reason. that would be dumb. any fighter who can make goku go ssj now could oneshot ssj3 goku in the begining of battle of gods. so that now includes tien, roshi, krillen, and presumably yamcha. they fucked up the scale so baddly that if you sent YAMCHA back in time he would probabbly be able to take out buuhan like he was nothing. before this there was no reason to belive that krillen any of the humans were on par with 17 or 18
If i rewatch GT i usually skip most of the first Arc. Its just so much wasted time. Baby is amazing, Super 17 is completely forgettable and as you said the Shadow Dragon Concept is brilliant but 4 of the 7 Dragons are completely wasted. But what angers me the most about GT is how they wasted Uub... i was so hyped to get a Series after Dragonball Z. Goku trained with Uub in the beginning and up until Baby we didnt see him at all... Uub is my favorite Character by concept. The purified reincarnation of Kid Buu! So much could be done with him. I hope if Super continues for longer that we get more from Uub. He was hinted at in the preparation to the Tournament of Power but my hopes are low. Dragonball is the Goku Show and i doubt this will ever change.
I agree, as much as i love gt, they did waste a lot of side characters and uub is one of them. When fat buu fused back with him, i can't see why he didnt do better against baby. I teared up so much when uub finally got complete again with fat buu
i was bout to say.... i like DB GT but they made it so easy for vegeta to get taken over when vegeta has been shown in Z when bobidi took control over his mind and yet he only did it for the power up and still was able to go against bobidi’s wishes..... bobidi was able to take over dabura’s mind and he is the demon king....
I hated how Pan had no character development . Al she did was serve as a plot device . The least they could have done was make her go super Saiyan but nope .
If you read the whole interview (the one you can see at 11:05 in the video) you will find out that Pan was written to be a damsel in distress for Goku to save and nothing more. Pretty sad.
I definitely agree with you on the end there. If I was to change GT, I wouldn't change it's main plot points, but rather extend the story arcs to involve more characters and their development. Have other characters actually accomplish things instead of just Goku. I do actually enjoy the humorous moments of the first arc, very similar to Dragon Ball, but it wouldn't leave such a bad taste in people's mouths if Trunks and Pan got them selves out of situations instead of relying on Goku. Besides extending the last arc for more fights and better fleshed out Shadow Dragons, I'd keep the ending the Same. SS4 Gogeta kicking Omega Shenron ass lol. Basically as the last thing the old generation needs to do before the new one takes over. Overcoming the consequences of using the dragon balls too much.
While I do agree that there are problems with dragon ball GT, some of the things that you don't like about GT I respectfully disagree with, laughingstock media. 1. I don't think that dragon ball GT has too much of a problem with power scaling. In comparison to dragon ball super and its constant power scaling problems, GT has less problems with power scaling. Also Pan managing to knock down general rildo (who is stated to be more powerful than Majin Buu) isn't as much of a power scaling problem if you take into account that Pan is the daughter of Gohan and granddaughter of Goku, and the fact that Rildo wasn't on guard at the time (the second time Pan attacked Rildo she did no damage and even the first attempt didn't do any real damage). 2. While it's true GT has Goku ultimately save the day against the main threats, there are 2 things dragon ball fans don't consider: (A) Goku has throughout dragon ball as a whole saved the day one way or another; (B) Goku has always needed help defeating the main threats in dragon ball GT. 3. The dragon ball franchise as a whole has always had plot holes and plot inconsistencies. Out of the entirety of the dragon ball franchise, dragon ball GT has the least amount plot holes and plot inconsistencies. In conclusion, while we may differ on what we do and don't enjoy about dragon ball GT, I just wanted to express my opinions on your views of dragon ball GT after you invited all of us to make our comments. You make great informative videos laughingstock media.
goku hasn't always saved the day one way or another. there were several occasions where he had no involvement. the fight against androids 16, 17, and 18, turning 18 into a good guy, the fight against cell in his first 2 forms,, future trunks killing frieza and king cold, and gohan, piccolo, and krillin killing garlic jr (yes i know garlic jr isn't canon).
@@MADMAN401 first of all, Goku would have defeated Frieza and king Cold if future Trunks hadn't interfered in the timeline. In fact, in the timeline of future Trunks, Goku was the one who defeated them. Not to mention that future Trunks came back in time to save Goku, so that he could defeat the androids. Another thing to bring up is that at the end of these arcs, Goku does save the day one way or another, even if he doesn't always defeat the villain. Goku may not have defeated the androids, but he did play a role in their defeat in both timelines. He provided future Trunks the means to gain enough power to defeat the androids of his timeline in a short amount of time, with the hyperbolic time chamber. Goku then trained Gohan into becoming a super saiyan and mastering that power to fight the androids. Goku fought Cell to show Gohan how Cell fights, so that it would be easier for Gohan to defeat Cell. Goku even died saving the earth from Cell self destruction, gave Gohan encouragement when he gave up, and was guiding Gohan in spirit when Gohan defeated Cell. Sorry, but Goku still saved the day during the battle with the androids. As for the garlic jr arc, I don't care about canon, and not only would have Goku have ended the arc easily if he had been involved, but Piccolo in the Japanese dub admitted that Goku wasn't really needed to save the day that time. Plus, I am referring to how Goku usually saved the day during the main arcs.
@@StareachValcin doesn't matter what he did in another timeline or what he would have done in the main timeline. the fact is 1. goku had no involvement in the death of frieza and king cold. goku never even met king cold. their death was all future trunks. 2. goku didn't provide trunks with the hyperbolic time chamber. dende and mr popo provided that. you can give goku credit for remembering it existed but he didn't provide it. 3. goku was knocked out for most of the fight against androids 16, 17, and 18. when he finally did wake up, he went straight to training. goku had no involvement in the fight against these androids. 4. i never said anything about cell in his 3rd form. i said his first 2 forms. goku had no involvement in the fight with imperfect and semi-perfect cell. you are giving goku credit for things he doesn't deserve credit for.
@@MADMAN401 I am actually giving Goku the credit he does deserve. 1. Goku did defeat Frieza and king Cold in future Trunks' timeline. Goku would have defeated Frieza and king Cold in the main timeline if future Trunks hadn't interfered. Goku himself admitted that he could have gotten there in time with instant transmission. Future Trunks' involvement changed the timeline. It does matter did in the alternate timeline because if Frieza and king Cold won, there are no androids, no time travel, and no earth. 2. Your second point is full of holes. If Goku hadn't mentioned the hyperbolic time chamber, then it wouldn't have been used. It wasn't used in future Trunks' timeline. That is what I meant by Goku providing the hyperbolic time chamber. It was Goku's idea, as you pointed out. Plus, Dende wasn't on earth at that time, so don't say he provided the chamber. 3. I told you that Goku had a role in the defeat of the androids. If we are being technical, Cell defeated androids 16, 17, and 18. None of the Z fighters defeated those androids, but Goku played an important role in Cell's defeat. You can't deny that. 4. Goku played an important role in Cell's defeat, regardless of which form. Goku is the reason the saiyan characters we able to become strong enough to fight Cell's first two forms, and helped defeat Cell in his final form. You can even argue that Goku's cells in perfect Cell influenced him to form the cell games to test his power. Cell has been to have his personality be influenced by cells of the fighters in his genetic makeup.
i like gt and nothing is going to change that and for its flaws i respect what they were trying to do which was experimenting on trying something different
I LOVE GT Goku being a kid again as it was nice to see a small Goku again as well as a SSJ1-3 version of him Though I WISH that Uub and Gohan(Or Goten) to go with Goku
Gonna age myself here. I watch all of GT at my local Walmart as the VHS volumes were released. I worked the night shift and would buy them as they were released and watch them in electronics on a demo VCR on my lunch break.
Great concepts for sagas, terrible execution. Having all of the villains come back from Hell and having all of the Z-fighters get mind controlled was such rich, fanservice material. But they didnt do much with either concept. Even the Balck Star Dragon Ball saga could have been great if they'd come up with the idea of the multiverse back then and had them go Universe hopping.
You need to do this also with Super......Super have many issues and pros too, for my money maybe a little but more on the bad than GT, so will be interesting at least to see a top 10 best and Bad decisions made in DBS.
Nah. Gt had more issues. And really super’s issues pale in comparison to GT’s why? Because at least super has progressed and improved over time so a lot of those flaws are overshadowed by redeeming qualities. Gt started trash, peaked with baby, then went back to trash. So those flaws stick out a lot more
my headcanon for the "just go ssj" problem is like in super it was determined that ssj hampers growth and that goku was really trying to handle everything in his base. (at least until he got ssj4)
If I learned anything about catering to nostalgia, it's exactly what you said, if Goku had been a Master Roshi type of character, even if the writing wasn't much better, fan reception would've increased just because of that little novelty. I mean, look at Terry in Garou: Mark of the Wolves, many people I've interacted with like his placement among the nee characters a lot.
The problem was that Goku was too famous for their own sake. If Goku had that another role, it gonna make as many people angry as it did the original GT. Part of the problem with Dragon Ball, is his own toxic fanbase that they are just happy for Goku with blue hair😅😅. And that is sadly, a pity
Im currently in the baby arc doing a gt rewatch and the story throws me off how it goes from dragon ball adventure to dragon ball Z concepts and back to dragon ball adventure. Its weird
but remember that db gt takes place in an alternate universe where goku is the most powerful warrior in the universe what makes it unique is that it feels like a game where you are completely over leveled for the enemie your facing and decide to have fun its kind of like death march
I hope with super that they eventually let Goku and Vegeta take a step back, and have the story revolve around kid Trunks and Goten with Gohan being their master.
See, they could have let the G and T in GT stand for Goten and Trunks and focused the show on them. They also could have included Uub in that and instead named the series Dragon Ball GUT. Uub could have been taught Kaioken by Goku to make up for him lacking a transformation, and done stories with the three of them building their power and fighting together. It might have been interesting if they planned it out that way.
I agree that GT had a lot of flaws, but the good things about the series do make up for it even just a little. One of those good things is part of the concept: Consequences. The Dragonballs have been used to fix all their problems like nothing happened, and it’s finally time to stop that misuse over life and death. Goku and Piccolo are permanently gone and now everyone has to pick up the pieces without divine help. It was even pointed out by Shenron that Bulma is to blame for everything involving the dragonballs. If she hadn’t went on a selfish quest for them, the bad guys wouldn’t have heard of them throughout the series. In the end the Dragonballs had to go as well so the same thing won’t be repeated (the original set, not the new ones created by Dende).
1. Wish Goten had went with Trunks and Goku 2. Wished Gohan developed that mindset like his mom and trained Pan back on Earth with Vegeta which would at least make Pans power make sense. 3. When the dragons were born I wish Uub Vegeta Goten and Trunks all took out a dragon not just Goku alone 4. Uub should have had a bigger role 5. Piccolo's sacrifice was wasted. Didn't even give Gohan the rage booste we are used to. Should have been the first sign of Beast Gohan But hell GT still looks better than Super lmao animation wise And SS4 design is still dope lol I'm hoping Vegeta's UE form when he masters it will have the same color design he has now (purple) but gets his tail back with the SS4 fur look. That shit is dope
Honestly with the whole turning Goku into a kid, if there was absolutely no choice, they could have had him completely break that curse as soon as he turned Super Saiyan 4 and the rest of the series he could have been his adult self.
I never cared in the slightest that Goku gets all the spotlight. I understand that Goku is the protagonist after all, and GT is his story, or more precisely the story of his final years on Earth and his legacy.
You forgot to include gt's ending imagine after 100 year Goku return and seeings all his friends dead and only panpan who are the only left kinda sad and heart breaking
I don't know, how it was in the U.S. but when GT finally aired on TV in Germany nearly 10 years went into the land. The search for the Black Star Dragon Balls was complete shown. And then came the Story with Super 17. The Story was so much cut, that Goku first fought Super 17 and the next day the Shadow Dragons were the new thing
In the U.S. when it first aired, Funimation knew the first arc was boring so they started it on the episode after everyone was abducted by RIldo and did a quick transition to show Goku being turned into a kid and all that. They did air the first arc later though.
A great breakdown and it's funny that so much of whst GT would try to do Super would correct much of it up to a point. But old favorites become relevant again such as in the tournament of power. It's not only the Goku show as Vegeta gets his own time to shine. We have truly great villains in not only Freiza coming back but the introduction of Breeus who is called a God of Destruction and is known by all. We get great world and universe building with Gako, the police force, and the other universes. Also the character development of old favorites like Gohan, Krillin, Trunks, and many others are great. Now all this wasn't sustained through all of Super but up till the Tournament of Power I was very much engaged like I hadn't been sense I first got to see DBZ for the first time and through much of the Toonami run of the late 90's and 2000's.
Goku being a kid again should not be on the list. I get some people to see it as a "problem" and all but it's not really that offensive. GT wouldn't be any better or worse of a show if Goku was an adult at least by much anyways. It's just cosmetic, he acts the same way he did in Z. GT has problems I won't deny that for a second but Goku's body is not one of them or at least a serious one anyway.
Completely disagree. The fact he was a kid turned me off from the series altogether. The rest of the series had great transformations, and decent storylines. There were a lot of filler episodes but I would have easily watched the whole series if Goku was an adult. That was their biggest wrong.
@@hoopmania9912 Why is goku being a kid such a problem to you? I'm seriously just curious I can't think of a single problem with it besides Goku doesn't look as cool. He's still pretty much the same thing as he was in Z.
@@spritvio639 I'll tell you why Goku being turned back into a kid was a problem. Thing is this..... If you started with Dragon Ball,I mean the ORIGINAL Dragon Ball, back when Goku was 12 and first met Bulma, you saw him grow from a child to a young man. Dragon Ball ran for 3 years. Goku was 12 at the start, when it ended,he was 18. If you started watching it at say 8 years old,you were 11 when it ended and Z started. So YOU GREW as Goku grew....LITERALLY. AS YOU WENT from 8,to 9,to 10,then 11 years old,you saw Goku go from 12....saw all the adventures he went through,to 15. Then he went from 15 to 18. When Z started,Goku was 23.....you were 11. Z ran for 7 years,so if you watched it from start to finish, when it ended, you were 18. So YOU matured as you saw Goku mature, from a young father to being a grandfather. It's like YOU GREW as Goku grew....you went through phases of life AS HE did. When GT turned him back into a kid,it's like he went back in time to being a silly child again........but YOU DIDN'T. It regressed him back to a state that you mentally and physically OUTGREW. That kinda dampens interest. People want to see him GO FORWARD in life, because THEY GO FORWARD.....no one wants to see someone they grew with go back to acting and behaving like a child. It was a turn off.
@@zanthonyhill8818 Huh ok that makes sense. It's from an evolutionary stand point from watching Ball, Z and GT in order while growing with it. Guess that explains why i dont care i grew up with Kai and GT on NickToons.
I honestly rewatched GT (Hulu) and Super (Crunchyroll) during this whole covid thing. GT really isn’t that bad, that first arc is....really bad and slow, but the show gets its stride once the Baby stuff starts showing it’s head. The show had some interesting stuff that at the very least didn’t make me press the stop button on the next episode. But yea, the power scaling of the show is just...out there. Super is just ok throughout for me. Without the hype factor of watching new DB every week, the show itself is just....meh. The Goku Black arc was worse on a second watching but the Tournament of Power was a better watch binging it than watching weekly. So basically...I’d just stick with the original Dragon Ball and Z, because these two series after them are just not a strong representation of what the series can be
For me, Gt was a lil worse than I remembered it being. Of all the problems, I hated how dirty they did the important characters with potential like goten, trunks, and especially: uub, pan, and vegeta. Uub and pan were supposed the next generation of strong fighters, and vegeta was supposed to be the right hand man to goku, instead it’s all the opposite. The baby and dragon arc were great ideas just executed poorly. I hope they get rebooted in super like broly. As for super, it was just as good as the 1st watch since I overlooked some things. Like for one: Zamasu was a way better villain than I remember him to be. Some of his philosophy was just insane I loved it. Jiren was also a better character than I remember and his backstory was cliche, but good , actually pretty sad, made sense why it made him like he was. I love how a lot of side characters actually got screen time and were relevant. My guy trunks got a whole arc dedicated to him. The fights were just as hype as the first time and the choreography is underrated. Rof was still ass tho, could’ve skipped it but I like how it showed them training for blue instead of just an asspull. Bog movie was better, but the arc was more entertaining than I remember. Same U6 vs. 7. I love both shows tho I’m glad there’s more db after z.
@@leultrainstinct406 yeah idk why people keep saying gt was better there was no character development for nobody in that show everyone got hurt from stuff they shouldn’t have super had the some of the z fighters back to fight future trunks great fights especially top that was awesome
I gotta be honest, one of the things I didn't like about GT is one of the things everyone seems to like and it's the concept of the shadow dragons. I can understand why people think it's a good concept, but I always thought it was like your toilet coming to life and trying to kill you for taking a shit in it, something turning evil because you use them for their intended use just sounded so stupid to me.
One thing that I like about gt but dislike about super is the fact that the former has more grit and seriousness in the fights, you can at least feel the peril when things seemed hopeless, they did ss4 and the baby saga well minus the in your face inconsistencies and it doesn't feel like a hollowed out shell of its former self like super, there is no REAL threat as long as they have the unlimited power of the super dragon balls that could potentially wipe out the entire universe along with the hierarchy of power with a single wish or undo literally any damages done
with GT i don't like how it's too short. they should of "one pieced it!" i'm thinking from Feb 07, 1996 to Jun 24, 2020 with about 1200 Episodes total! covering Age 789 to Age 801! the ending being when Goku and Vegeta leave the earth and have there final fight like they did in the DBOnline timeline. have it be kinda like the way Super ended were they didn't show there fight. and have a monthly manga that starts the month after the original manga ends a "Dragon Ball GT Manga" From Jul 03, 1995 to Jun 01, 2020 with 300 chapters total and ?? volumes. so that the anime has a direction and the manga is always ahead of the anime. and only one movie airs during this time. Dragon Ball: The Path to Power. but this time it's a more accurate retelling of the Emperor Pilaf Saga in movie form.
2 big mistakes GT did that if they didnt might have completely saved the series, making goku a kid or keeping him a kid the entire series, putting vegeta gohan trunks amd gotten on the back burn. They had great story acrs ideas and if the z fighters actually fought more it would have been much better.
Takes place in a time where everyone is either fucking old or an annoying kid. Most ideas were unoriginal. Side characters were terrible. Deaths weren't sad. Anyone not named Goku or Pan was completely irrelevant after Baby Saga. Super 17 and Omega Shenron are most ass villains I have ever seen. First 20 episodes were boring. Pan couldn't turn into a Super Saiyan while Goku jr. who is like %1 Saiyan could. Pan was supposed to be a cute character but GT basically made her a horny teen.
Yagiz Can, The ideas were taken from Dbz and expands on it. More original tho than Super. Like did Super make any better? The show was basic Goku and Vegeta show. Atleast in GT it has consequences than in Super, also good that they are old because better that than being stuck in same time period xD
@@danielmedjedovic7068 ''More original than Super''. Oh yes. The Pilaf Saga in Space Another Evil Vegeta Tuffle Dr. Gero Fusion Reborn 2.0 WITH ANDROIDS! Gimmicky villain-of-the-week Shenrons Those sure didn't feel something like ''taken from DBZ and expanding on it''. The only thing Super did that was unoriginal was bringing back Frieza and it was already different enough from what we saw in DBZ Frieza Saga. ''The show is basically Goku and Vegeta show.''Implying GT wasn't Goku and Pan show.
Whenever i go to rewatch GT im like "oh this wont be so bad" but then i usually stop around the fifth or seventh episode because the black star dragon ball arc is so so bad
Wtf dude The Magic Begins is good my dude. Also check out Fight Son Goku WIn Son Goku, it is even better than that. Its horribly subbed online though but i have subbed it myself to justification if you'd like a copy.
The are 2 things that killed GT for me: 1. The fughts suck. The ones in Z had so much better choreography, and the exchanges also went on a lot longer. Compare the Goku VS Kid Buu fight to anything in this series. 2. The music sucks. Z's Faulconer score is far superior. It's so intense and memorable.
Not to mention the fight choreography and pacing being absolutely abysmal. They practically have characters debating and taunting more than fighting. When they do trade blows, it's over almost as quickly as it started and goes right back into banter. GT to me stood for "Greaaaaat.... Talking...."
Watching DBGT with my 13 year old brother. Even though it's not as good as Z, we've been enjoying it, and even enjoying laughing at how bad some of the episodes are! Though, pleasantly surprised when GT is occasionally good or even great.
I don't even think Goku always getting the front seat in GT was the problem, there was one time in Z when Gohan beat the villain and he ultimately did nothing in that arc up until that point so I DGAF.
I mean in my opinion, making goku into a kid in, GT was ok, he was still goku, and acted like a adult as a kid, but if goku wasnt a kid, than we wont had super saiyan 4 cuz you need the tail to get ssj4, and saiyans cant get their tails back when their adults, but a good list
If i was writing gt id just do what dbz set up any potential sequal that it left instead of what gt did. That is keep to the formula. Introduce new baddies stronger than the last. Some seek the dragonballs some dont. Introduce new concepts to ki to keep our characters up to par with these new threats. Focus more on good action and lighthearted storytelling that suits all audiances.
GT should have been not Goku turning into a kid, but Goku disappearing from existance, as in: Not dead, just absolutely *GONE* Then the remaining characters would need to get the Dragon Balls to wish him back, space is still inevitable cuz even in Z they can gather the balls in barely a few hours Then for characters that should go along, I think Pan is a nice fit, cuz she is a new character, Trunks or Goten, never both, so fusion isn't an option and then maybe _one_ adult cuz that just sounds responsible, Gohan for example or maybe just Bulma The objective this time would be to get the Dragon Balls and get Goku back, forget the "The Earth is gonna explode in a year" bullshit, cuz that's just stupid This way there's no rush and the characters could come across enemies they have to deal with because they could be a danger for the earth if not, which they would need to get rid of without Goku, so there's no "Goku turn super saiyan and wins" scenarios over and over Eventually they would find the, not done already a million times, doctor who wants to take revenge on the Saiyans, turns out their invention is too strong for the main characters and anyone on Earth, but, oh shit, they already got all the Dragon Balls and for the finale of the series, they wish Goku back
They should’ve started the series with super 17 as the villain with a nerfed child goku. Then being wished back as an adult he could’ve fought Baby as he finally turns into Ssj4. Having super 17 in the middle was very forgettable filler.
Love that they brought the tails back. A saiyan is just a human with 1970s rock star hair & strength with out it.
They're just humans with superpowers and a tail otherwise.
They should’ve split all the characters in fighting the shadow dragons instead of goku beating them all
Ikr? Would have been much cooler. It’s also a shame we never saw Super Saiyan Pan or adult Gotenks.
Fr. But instead they made it dragon ball goku time once again smh.
Now, GT was interesting but yes, it was rushed..Although one of the many things I loved about GT was the SSJ4 Transformation..that was epic
Ssj4 was never really my favorite, but I don't have much of a favorite anyway, maybe ssg?
@@StanTheBland I like all of the transformations, but SSJ4 is my favorite
And the dragon punch
It was it was rushed I agree but however it's not a 10 times multiplier
Agreed. The power ups came from something important. Can’t say the same for Super that had terrible power scaling with first two power ups were quickly forgotten and only brought up less in the Tournament of Power ark.

"art is subjective"
The Cod yes but only in their minds so not really
I just need to point out super also was rushed so that coperates could get money quicker, tottaly not mark even points this out. So it does actually.
If supers animation is even good
leave starwars out of this
What’s amazing here is how many of these errors are repeated by Super.

Nah. It’s simple as this: he provides outlines for important parts of the story and toei writers fill in the gaps for the anime,
And Toyotaro fills in the gaps for the manga
And with broly and the new movie coming out, he wrore the entire scripts which are canon to the story.
That alone is enough along with character designs, is more than enough to consider it canon.
Whereas with gt, toriyana was done but toei got too money hungry. The most he ever did was provide designs for characters and planets. But like he said himself “a grand side story” on par with the non canon movies
He does more than you'd think, but less than you'd hope
Honestly if Toei and Disney came together they would destroy so many peoples childhoods for the sake of $0.01
Woah that is utter bullshit they'd do it for free
If toei and Disney came together, so many companies would be consumed. Dreamworks, Universal, Sony, even Warner Bros. As for anime studios, with Disney footing the bill, a bunch of those would be consumed as well. they may not go for some of the more hardcore anime companies like Madhouse, but the more child friendly ones would be bought up.
GT had good villains but they could of added more content to it. plus they could at least slow down on each season
sorry it took to long this is all i have
Could have. Not could of. Could've works as well.
The thing that always frustrated me is how the other characters not named Goku does absolutely nothing in the show even during parts that they clearly should have been used but were ignored because Goku Time. It's this kind of idiotic thinking that would come back to bite Dragon Ball in the ass when Super was made.
Pan is strong because of Gohan's 'mystic' seed. ;)
😳
Ssj4 was probably the beat thing to come out of GT
Pretty much
When you have a character as strong as goku all the other characters are useless. This is what Bleach did really well, every character was a badass in their own unique way.

@@ELECTRICKEN True, but it's awesome that being "regular" doesn't affect them when it comes to power scaling. Ichigo definitely has his advantages as a super hybrid, but the captains all manage to keep up with their bankai and other methods like Sajin's humanification.

they didn't even bother giving jiren a personality or having a worthwhile ending for the gokublack arc. was gt perfect? no was z perfect? neither were close to the dumpster fire that is super.
"An author's ability to solve conflict with magic/tech/whatever is directly proportional to how well the reader understands said magic/tech/whatever."
good powerscaleing is what allows us to understand whats happening. thats why transformations even exist. as a way for us to understand the character transforming is stronger now. think about how lame it would be if goku was getting beaten up by frieza and just started wining for seemingly no reason. that would be dumb. any fighter who can make goku go ssj now could oneshot ssj3 goku in the begining of battle of gods. so that now includes tien, roshi, krillen, and presumably yamcha. they fucked up the scale so baddly that if you sent YAMCHA back in time he would probabbly be able to take out buuhan like he was nothing. before this there was no reason to belive that krillen any of the humans were on par with 17 or 18
@Jiren The Gray Super is trash lmao

Totally agree.
goku hasn't always saved the day one way or another. there were several occasions where he had no involvement. the fight against androids 16, 17, and 18, turning 18 into a good guy, the fight against cell in his first 2 forms,, future trunks killing frieza and king cold, and gohan, piccolo, and krillin killing garlic jr (yes i know garlic jr isn't canon).
@@StareachValcin doesn't matter what he did in another timeline or what he would have done in the main timeline. the fact is
1. goku had no involvement in the death of frieza and king cold. goku never even met king cold. their death was all future trunks.
2. goku didn't provide trunks with the hyperbolic time chamber. dende and mr popo provided that. you can give goku credit for remembering it existed but he didn't provide it.
3. goku was knocked out for most of the fight against androids 16, 17, and 18. when he finally did wake up, he went straight to training. goku had no involvement in the fight against these androids.
4. i never said anything about cell in his 3rd form. i said his first 2 forms. goku had no involvement in the fight with imperfect and semi-perfect cell.
you are giving goku credit for things he doesn't deserve credit for.

GT is basically the New Game+ of Dragonball
I was always confused when Pan kept calling him Grandpa, since GT was my introduction into the franchise and I didn’t catch it from the start.

I thought Goku did lose some power when he was turned into a kid again?
No, Goku retained all of his power. I explained the drawbacks in the video.
I actually loved super 17 and his design I thought he was bad
Pan is just a precursor to Kefla and Kale.
They're nothing alike, or are you talking about female Saiyans
I dont think it's bad for him to be a kid it just needs a good start
I didn't like that they kept him as a kid. Maybe a few episodes. But it became clear that they wanted to keep him that way.
Its weird
I’m rewatching gt too

Dolltaki has always been one of my favourites in that series. I simply love his design.
I hope with super that they eventually let Goku and Vegeta take a step back, and have the story revolve around kid Trunks and Goten with Gohan being their master.
Apparently they did redeem the human characters in the Tournament of power
pan is so strong since she was a baby... u can see that on super
Turning Goku back into a kid ruined it for me. It was so pointless and unnecessary

1. Wish Goten had went with Trunks and Goku
2. Wished Gohan developed that mindset like his mom and trained Pan back on Earth with Vegeta which would at least make Pans power make sense.
3. When the dragons were born I wish Uub Vegeta Goten and Trunks all took out a dragon not just Goku alone
4. Uub should have had a bigger role
5. Piccolo's sacrifice was wasted. Didn't even give Gohan the rage booste we are used to. Should have been the first sign of Beast Gohan
But hell GT still looks better than Super lmao animation wise
And SS4 design is still dope lol
I'm hoping Vegeta's UE form when he masters it will have the same color design he has now (purple) but gets his tail back with the SS4 fur look. That shit is dope
Honestly with the whole turning Goku into a kid, if there was absolutely no choice, they could have had him completely break that curse as soon as he turned Super Saiyan 4 and the rest of the series he could have been his adult self.
I really like this channel and appreciate the work - Yahuah Bless - He Is
I never cared in the slightest that Goku gets all the spotlight. I understand that Goku is the protagonist after all, and GT is his story, or more precisely the story of his final years on Earth and his legacy.
Tbh growing up Gt was the first thing I ever saw from dragon ball so I love it I’m not gonna lie to you 😂
You forgot to include gt's ending imagine after 100 year Goku return and seeings all his friends dead and only panpan who are the only left kinda sad and heart breaking
Gt gets so much hate but it’s my favorite one
But whoever animated GT needed to work on super, best part about the series
@@meganinten0078 both have garbage start and good looking ending
Goten was suspose to go with Goku but Pan launched the ship early
One thing that I like about gt but dislike about super is the fact that the former has more grit and seriousness in the fights, you can at least feel the peril when things seemed hopeless, they did ss4 and the baby saga well minus the in your face inconsistencies and it doesn't feel like a hollowed out shell of its former self like super, there is no REAL threat as long as they have the unlimited power of the super dragon balls that could potentially wipe out the entire universe along with the hierarchy of power with a single wish or undo literally any damages done
There will never be a better idea for ending the series than the Eternal Dragon being the final villain. Too bad the execution sucked.
Should be called, Dragonball Supper...LOL!!!
with GT i don't like how it's too short. they should of "one pieced it!" i'm thinking from Feb 07, 1996 to Jun 24, 2020 with about 1200 Episodes total! covering Age 789 to Age 801! the ending being when Goku and Vegeta leave the earth and have there final fight like they did in the DBOnline timeline. have it be kinda like the way Super ended were they didn't show there fight.
and have a monthly manga that starts the month after the original manga ends a "Dragon Ball GT Manga" From Jul 03, 1995 to Jun 01, 2020 with 300 chapters total and ?? volumes. so that the anime has a direction and the manga is always ahead of the anime.
and only one movie airs during this time.
Yeah, but Super didnt do any difference except Vegeta was with goku all the time

Boy said goku was played out lmao. That’s like saying kratos from god of war is played out. Literally dragon ball is goku
The are 2 things that killed GT for me:
1. The fughts suck. The ones in Z had so much better choreography, and the exchanges also went on a lot longer. Compare the Goku VS Kid Buu fight to anything in this series.
2. The music sucks. Z's Faulconer score is far superior. It's so intense and memorable.
In my opinion there biggest mistake was Uub I wish they made him better
Not to mention the fight choreography and pacing being absolutely abysmal. They practically have characters debating and taunting more than fighting. When they do trade blows, it's over almost as quickly as it started and goes right back into banter. GT to me stood for "Greaaaaat.... Talking...."
Dragon Ball Saiyan Fallen Order (a Parody Fan Mana idea 💡 of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order)

I love GT and I agree with some or most of the critics here. Most villains were not so good aside from Baby and the last 3 shadow dragons.
No doubt Toei used the Dragonball name as a cash cow, but at least it got better as the series went on...ish. I'm still nostalgic for it tho
I don't even think Goku always getting the front seat in GT was the problem, there was one time in Z when Gohan beat the villain and he ultimately did nothing in that arc up until that point so I DGAF.
One thing i liked from the search for the black star dragon balls is zunama an trunksette zunama's love nest coment was funny
@Laughingstock Media, why did they have to dress Trunks as a girl in GT... when they had Pan??
GT should have been not Goku turning into a kid, but Goku disappearing from existance, as in:
Not dead, just absolutely *GONE*
Then the remaining characters would need to get the Dragon Balls to wish him back, space is still inevitable cuz even in Z they can gather the balls in barely a few hours
Then for characters that should go along, I think Pan is a nice fit, cuz she is a new character, Trunks or Goten, never both, so fusion isn't an option and then maybe _one_ adult cuz that just sounds responsible, Gohan for example or maybe just Bulma
The objective this time would be to get the Dragon Balls and get Goku back, forget the "The Earth is gonna explode in a year" bullshit, cuz that's just stupid
This way there's no rush and the characters could come across enemies they have to deal with because they could be a danger for the earth if not, which they would need to get rid of without Goku, so there's no "Goku turn super saiyan and wins" scenarios over and over
Eventually they would find the, not done already a million times, doctor who wants to take revenge on the Saiyans, turns out their invention is too strong for the main characters and anyone on Earth, but, oh shit, they already got all the Dragon Balls and for the finale of the series, they wish Goku back
They should’ve started the series with super 17 as the villain with a nerfed child goku. Then being wished back as an adult he could’ve fought Baby as he finally turns into Ssj4. Having super 17 in the middle was very forgettable filler.
