I actually just bought a timber rattler, it's my first ever real big Bowie knife, aside from my harbor freight and another one I bought at some military reenactment from a vendor who is selling surplus things. I'm hoping one day somebody is going to invite me on a camping trip. But I'm definitely interested in buying your d bad mission 3. I was checking out your website I like that you have options. Very good comparison of two cool big knives , KHHI Kukri House steel is a major factor in the edge holding and blade strength. But the Timber Rattler TR65 is still a beast especially for the price ,you can't go wrong with either one of those Bowie knives although the Mission III is a better performer.
There is also a huge difference in price. Almost 200 dollars difference. It seems unfair to compare something with that big of price difference. Dollar for Dollar value I beleive the Timber Rattler may be the winner. Especially for new collectors that dont have 225 dollars to spend on a knife but still wants to experience a large bowie and can afford 30 dollars. Since the overall design seems to be almost identical in the two.
This video was done by request. The Mission III is sub $200. Dollar for dollar, the TR still doesn't compare. The $15 Szco High Carbon Bowie is half the price of the TR and far better in edge geometry. Even a budget blade should have proper beveling.
@@DonnieBAllDay The Szco is a decent knive for the price I have had 3 of them. All were different blade thickness, the last one was less than 3/32 thick. And the grind lines looked like an ocean wave, but still for the price I agree it is hard to beat. I would take high carbon over cheap stainless any day of the week. You definetly have to keep it oiled and out of sheath or rust will take over pretty quick on it though.

your mission III no doubt far excels that timberwolf bowie. I have that timberwolf and it has held together but I dropped it once and the blade tip flattened.
If you had the Legendary Mtech Raptor Bowie Knife It would Rock with the best of any blade on the market factory of handmade , but those are two very good blades and I truly like your Mission III knife design ,it's hard very not too and the D guard Bowie aka the Decapitator also ⚔️.
Hibbins was first . The Timber Rattler came about 3 or more years later . Oh btw I have been using my Timber Rattler every day on clearing brush and foliage . Thats due to the wildfires we have been having here in the State of Washington . Very dry no real rain fall in along while .

I did. It was corrected. Since then KHHI has said that from now on, every dbad blade will be made only by master smith's, not craftsman level. They are making them right. Look at any other review. I got a CS that bent day 1, but 99% of them have been great

After watching a lot of these videos, It has become clear the Timber Rattler Western Outlaw is the gateway drug to the Big Bowie addiction. For forty bucks it gets you into the thick blade game and suddenly anything less than 11" and a quarter inch thick is no longer of interest. The Khukiri House has a lot of respect for you and now I see a bunch of stuff I never knew about and can't live without. Poor Cold Steel got sold and the new owners don't love the game. Gil Hibbins is mass produced in a factory in China.

In Germany the Mission III is about double the price of a Timber Rattler Western Outlaw Bowie. I am thinking first time, that a knife about twice the price is twice as good as the cheap one. On other blades of similar size and length this often is not the case. Because both of 'em cut, both have a sheet, both take an edge. But when I see the cutting, think about the materials and the handle design it becomes the truth. This Mission III is twice as good as the Timber Rattler. At least in my humble opinion.
I would trust my life to the stronger edge with the better profiling. The knife with the superior balance with the harder striking and ability to take more punishment. But hey, that's just me. I prefer to win.
for what? In order to recreate a design it must be 5% different than the original. This blade has has an over 40% difference in design than the Hibben. The TR is actually closer in design to the Hibben than my blade.

Of the ones for sale, it's tough to say. The Preacher, Old War, Gator Tail and Mission IV are all devastating choppers in different ways.

I am thinking first time, that a knife about twice the price is twice as good as the cheap one.
On other blades of similar size and length this often is not the case. Because both of 'em cut, both have a sheet, both take an edge.
But when I see the cutting, think about the materials and the handle design it becomes the truth. This Mission III is twice as good as the Timber Rattler.
At least in my humble opinion.

I would trust my life to the lighter blade. If you’re using a bowie outside of game, you misunderstood the shape of the knife
I would trust my life to the stronger edge with the better profiling. The knife with the superior balance with the harder striking and ability to take more punishment. But hey, that's just me. I prefer to win.

for what? In order to recreate a design it must be 5% different than the original. This blade has has an over 40% difference in design than the Hibben. The TR is actually closer in design to the Hibben than my blade.
