- I mostly use resin to 3D print statues and miniatures, but it can be used to make functional objects as well. In this video, I used Conjure Rigid resin to print some objects that I think you can make use of in the real world.

Good to finally find someone printing functional parts in resin. How tough are these parts? I want to buy a resin printer to print functional parts but will they break easily with tough/engineering resins? I know it's hard to quantify "toughness" but can you give a general opinion?
functional printing with resin is a breeze. everythings fits perfectly. i find it a lot easier than fdm
Great info... thank you. With FDM, I'm forever considering tolerances to make sure things fit well. I'd love to know if you do factor in tolerances with resin & if so generally what value. With FDM a common tolerance is 0.25mm.
I've personally not factored in tolerances with my prints. Most, but not all of the things I've printed in pieces have fit together very well. That's especially true for this rigid resin. The pieces for the drill angle tool have very small openings and everything sits flush.
Thanks Jeremy. Can't wait to try resin printing. I have all the stuff but just waiting for a few spare days. Also looking forward to learning the differences of each resin. I prefer to do mechanical/functional parts rather than models so need some tough stuff. I'll need to do some testing to see if prints destined for the car or outside require UV protective clear coat as I've heard resins break down in cured by UV for too long. All the best & thx for your reply.
