      Ive seen it. I’ve seen several of your videos and I’m amazed you don’t get residue from the same setup.

    You could try Belton for a cheaper alternative too, it's supposed to be based on automotive paint. idk if anything will beat actual automotive paint though.

      Sure, there are probably many brands out there that are good. Montana cans is not one of them. The good thing about the mix-on-demand automotive paint is that you can pick pretty much any color you want and it can be mixed. 👌

    Great vid and very usefull for the paint choice. Ive used Montana in one project. I didnt do much graphics but I did have the same issue. Dident think to much about after that but it was quite annoying.

    Thank you! I'm gearing up to do some frames and will be doing some stencil work. Will try something besides Montana. I like House of Kolor and I can get those in aerosol cans.

    Montana Cans are perfect. Problem should be your vinil. There are two types of oramask 810 and 810s. You should be using the oramask 810s which is solvent based rather then the 810 which is water based. Solvents on montana cans are probably stronger than the ones on mippa, and that’s the reason why you don’t have residues on mippa.

      Very interesting. I was unaware that there is two different types. I’ve been all over trying to understand the issue and all I’ve found is that it works with all other paints, but not Montana.
      But If it’s solvent based, that should be a problem? A water based should not stick on solvent based paint? And should be possible to clean off with water/alcohol. But thats not possible?

    Thanks, that’s interesting. Are you using a low tack masking vinyl for your decal stencils?

    • @MYnextDIYbikePROJECT
      @MYnextDIYbikePROJECT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it’s a special stencil vinyl from reputable brand Oracal.

    Thanks for the video! Does the automotive paint cure "harder" than the Montana? Chip less easily, and so on? Thanks!

      Well, base paint like this lays down very thin, while primer and clear coat build a lot more thickness. So the durability and resistance in a finished state comes down to the prep and primer and the clear coat.
      But the automotive paint is tested and quality checked a lot more than the Montana, that is a Hobby paint. So it should be of higher quality in general.

      @@MYnextDIYbikePROJECT Ok cool, thanks! I'll go with the automotive paint. I'm restoring my father's 1984 (ish) Pinarello road bike, so I want to do it right! Thanks!

    Thank you! What is the cost difference of getting automotive paint in an aerosol can vs regular container for spray gun use?

    • @MYnextDIYbikePROJECT
      @MYnextDIYbikePROJECT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When buying paint for a spray gun you usually get a lower price if you buy more. So a container of 100ml where I buy is about 20 euros but if I get one liter it costs 63. So it’s very depending. But if you have the equipment for spraying with a gun, I would do that. 👍
