@@PythonSelkan by the way, something has been on my mind here recently. In MGS4, Eva tells Snake about giving birth to him and Liquid, but why not Solidus? She never mentions him at all. Liquid never talks about him either. Strangely enough, Big Boss seems to be the only person that acknowledged him as a clone, and the perfect one at that. Why does it seem like we really don't know anything about Solidus?

Edit: for added info, equip famas, fire until your bullets are in the red, like 2-3 left. Then equip the bandanna. You'll have tracer like bullet firing.

@@sleepysamurai8625I mean yeah, for the most part that was exactly how you were supposed to play. I've known about this since 1998 and only ever really needed it on the stairs section in the video, but even that is easier with stung renades.

For MGS2, you can also do L1 + X to Lock On Targets way better

As a kid I found it easier to use stun grenades while running up :)

I literally just found out earlier this year about dragging enemies during a chokehold 😭😭
Haha the good ole art of knocking them out via choke hold. Knowing the correct number of times to tap "square" to incapacitate them but not too many or you hear that NECK SNAP 🎉
Also the weapon select / deselect trick to basically run over the metal grates that make sound. Snake stutter running and making no noise 😂
Using the cigarettes to see lasers before you find the infra red goggles. Planting C4 on the genome soldiers backs, the wolf pee trick on your cardboard box to make the wolves ❤ you 😂

That's bummer, that and no 60fps in 2/3, and bilinear filter enabled for mgs1 that's why I'm skipping it on switch, replaying mgs1 at moment on ps Vita with r2/l2 Hori grip and it's pretty much flawless interaction. No wobbling pixels either compare to disc version I think. They advanced with native PS emulation later on I recon

Its how I climb the stair run and shoot with the FAMAS hehe.
But never really use that in MGS2
Only time I needed it was against the arsenal tengus.

You can't finish the vr missions without this. I saw it in the vr intro and kept messing around for days till I figured it out.
You have no idea how long it took me to figure this out and beat the glass pane VR mission when I was younger.

Good video. I do not know this. In tower mission, i used land mine to hold enemies behind me and stun grenades to hold their pursue.

Definitely will be using this when i get the master collection! I cant wait! It seems theyve added so much into besides just the 3 main games. It also has the english msx games for mg1 & mg2: solid snake. Theyll even have the books for the games as well! Going over all the characters that make mgs so great!
there are also small quality of life changes in the master collection from the looks of it, there are rumors about them implementing mouse and keyboard support.. imagine MGS2 and 3 with mouse support during the FPS view

Was a game changer back then because most of us where used to "tank" controls coming off the Resident Evil games where you had to move, take aim then shoot on the spot.
Hideo Kojima didnt want the player to be static when shooting but also back then tutorials in games were often inside the game manuals which you had to read to often get the back story or game mechanics.
Since the game didn't baby sit you like modern games do today. 😂

That stairs climb with the FAMAS and Infinity Bandana was always fun.
I didn't know that was such an unknown thing. Especially since the gog release of mgs 1 it seemed like a pretty easy thing to do.
Can also quick reload by tapping R1 to unequip and tap it again to re-equip with full mag.
Wow great tip I didn't know if you're re-equip it fully loaded, is that the true??

I remember seeing it in a trailer back then so I looked up how to do it in the instruction manual. Only thing is that you have to be careful unloading like that running up the Communications Tower. You'll run out of ammo in that FAMAS quick.
Same learned it on training mode. 80s baby.
I had beaten the game maybe three times before I learned this. I was finally doing all the VR missions and I figured it out trying to get the missions done as fast as I could. Good times.

I mean the whole stairs bit is very hard without that.
After dying so many times on that stair part where you have to go up a bajillion flight of stairs while enemies constantly come after you, i had to look up a strategy and the top answer from years ago was this very trick, and it helped tremendously

I ended up doing this on accident as a kid and tried multiple ways to do it again, and then I found out and made the game more fun
Oh thats how you do that! I figured out how to do that when i was waaay younger. Years later i decided to play it again and forgot and thought i maybe had the mandella effect. "Is moving and firing just a thing in my head this while time?"

I've always known
You can also release the gun button at you start holding the stance button to hold the gun at the ready while running (i think of it as pressing and holding Gun, then also holding Stance, then Releasing Gun but continuing to hold Stance. As long as you keep holding Stance you can run around and just tap Gun to fire a shot.)
The only reason I knew it was possible was because of the intro

I JUST LITERALLY GOT A HANDACHE ON REVOLVER OCELOT FIGHT AND TH-cam SHOWING ME THIS RIGHT NOW.
Wow so many hidden mechanics !? I never knew that and I’ve played all games through so many times 😂 that would definitely come in handy for the first ocelot fight, with the stairway shootout I remember using a gun and having no luck but then I watched someone on TH-cam just run up non stop and constantly throw a stun grenade every few seconds it’s stuns them all enough that they never catch up to you you just keep running and throwing
Played this game multiple times since I was 4.5 years old (yes literally 🤣) even finished again earlier this year....and never knew that. Should have played the VR missions maybe it was told there
To the real OGs that played this when it originally released, this was common knowledge to us.

I know this. Was 5 when my parents bought me PS1 and MGS collector edition in silver sleeve with OST and art postcards. I am a MGS-head all my life. The game got me into Japanese culture, anime, classical music, espionage literature... So many things wouldn't be in my life if not for this game and for Kojima. Ofc I read the manual countless times. 😂😂😂 The game is so good and intuitive that I was able to finish it and so-so understand it without speaking a word of English language. Yes, it got me into English as well.

I(somehow) remember playing Tower A my first time ages ago when I was eight and had died so many times that I began questioning if I was supposed to be using the Socom. Needless to say, that did not go well.😂
Side note:
It was strictly because of MGS that I tried playing Socom: Navy Seals. I didn’t like it, from what I recall. I went in expecting it to be like MGS.😅

I finished the original before playing the VR Missions. I learned to do that from the latter because of the VR Missions intro cutscene just by holding random buttons 😅

Some parts would be almost impossible without this feature lol,staircase,elevator with stealthcamo enemies and the elevator leading to metal gear.

I would always read through the instruction booklet before I ever even started playing a new game so I knew this from the get go but most games now are being downloaded so it's understandable how players can miss this.
