You should see the job I did on my headlights up close. All the lines came out well but hit it too hard with the heat gun on one of the curves. I did the install in the winter was a big mistake. Vinyl is so hard to work with when it's cold. Good on you for your honest attempt. Remember.. guys at these shops do several attempts for there product videos to get it looking just right. And they are pros 😆
It looks good but as you said it does seem to be quite stretchy which has its limitations as you have shown with the install , liking the sound of the 3m carbon fibre version :-)
That would get to me also, nothing less than perfection. You could use the spare piece of vinyl on the tip of the hood going from headlight to headlight and it would add some protection. Not sure how it would look but just a thought.
From a distance the stripes look pretty killer! Pity it's so darn hard to get them aligned perfectly. There must be thicker stripes out there, next time around, you will get it perfect.
i agree man, they do look killer.. but that material was just too thin to be honest. when you tried to manipulate the angle, it would just stretch. then you have ruined the integrity.
@@LastHumansGarage just a thought, I've never seen it done but could you mask off the body line with tape then aline the vinyl along that edge? If you're working from that top edge and then pulling the material down, any stretch would then tuck under the door.
@@flapjackjuice3338 i had a much better idea last night. I have 4" tape roll black gloss vinyl on the way, good avery dennison brand. It will be much easier to hold the tape roll, get it lined up perfectly, then snip the tape. Gonna do the same thing on my hood stripe to get it dead straight.

even the owner of the vinyl shop i bought from says sometimes he has to do 2 or 3 tries.
I like the look. Don’t give up. You still did a nice job Mark
i do too man.. i would be so stoked if i can get thicker stripes and do it perfectly.

i would, but i have zero carbon fiber, not gonna start now
good to see you back bro.
Appreciate it

dood, not a terrible idea.. sort of like a mini bra? bro ill see how silly it looks today.. might even try it.. might look way out of place tho.
Why not install it an 8th of an inch to high, then take a straight edge and cut off the excess with a blade to achieve the perfect straight line?
lol a blade along your paint? not for me.
but my razor tape would be an idea..

Looks cleaner without
the most obvious statement of the century... lol... of course it looks cleanest with nothing..
Run a line of masking tape first and follow that
i kinda did that in the later video. i used knifeless tape
Vinyl and spray painting are both pains in the ass. So simple in theory yet so difficult to execute to a LHG level.
very true...
