Incredibly helpful video Richard, thank you, and thanks for all your patience and advice helping me out on the phone now that I'm a customer of MBTF - sometimes, idiots like me really NEED that idiot's guide to what seems (but actually isn't) a simple job, and your input has been genuinely invaluable! Very best, Harry Harrison!!
What do you recommend doing if the pole has a centre bracket? You would then hit the lintel when drilling. Do you recommend drilling a concrete lintel with an SDS and a steel one with a non masonry bit a bit smaller than the screw size? That pole was hollow but you do solid ones as well right? What fixings do you recommend for something very heavy?
Hi Richard Wonder if you can advise, I have moved into a new bedroom and struggling to put up a curtain rail. Your curtain pole holder has small holes, mine has big hole in the middle so I can't use normal screws, they need to have big heads otherwise they fall through. I have attempted a few different screws but it seems as though nothing holds the curtain pole up. Prior there were some plastic screw holders in the wall so I wonder if I need to use them to hold the screws in. Can you please show how to drill them into the wall, would appreciate it - thank you very much
Yes you should. Well spotted. I guess that was camera nerves! I might look super cool but I found making these quite hard. Once you forget to do something there is no adding it in later!
No wall plugs needed?
A great tip on how to get the pole straight, thank you : )
No problem Paul, glad we helped.
Nice clear demonstration. I've put up many but there will no doubt be a first timer viewing and this should be of great help. So Thanks

You’re a GREAT teacher ! I’ve watched other videos and they didn’t take their time explaining ! Thank you 😊
Hi there, I wanna ask why you don’t use a drywall anchor? My wall is built by wood. Just see if it’s the same🙏🏼
Thanks for the video
How do you know how far to drill?
Measure the length of the rawl plugs you are using and drill the hole deep enough for them.
That curtain pole looks like it's been found in an archaeological dig

Does he mean curtain rod?
should the wall be drilled with rawl plugs?
yes.
Just a little tip, a lady whose video I watched said the pole should be two thirds up from the top of the window to the ceiling.
I saw that. She's sticking to the one size fits all method.
What type of drill do I need, ??? Wall plugs, what about 2 x1 timber fir extra support. Do you offer live chat
Hi Richard

Best type drill? Volt?? Always 7-8 cm above window.
Thank you so much, i know what i hv to do, u explained very well.
Great, glad we can help and sorry for the delay as we only just found these messages.
Shouldn't you have a ring the other side of the bracket each end? How can the curtain be pulled fully else?
Yes you should. Well spotted. I guess that was camera nerves! I might look super cool but I found making these quite hard. Once you forget to do something there is no adding it in later!
Do I have to worry about drilling into any pipes or electrical ?
Are you drilling into drywall or wood? If drywall, don't you need an anchor?
Drywall in as much as blockwork of some kind and yes you need a rawl plug to fix the bracket firm.
Wall plugs??
What if im drilling n hitting metal or sreel
Then you drill about 100mm either side or higher
nice one
Thanks a lot.
No rawl plugs or tape measures were harmed during the making of this video... 😂
What are the hooks called to put the pole on?
These are called Brackets. We sell them on our website www.madebytheforge.co.uk and I hope you like them.
