Thank you for all the detail and the explanations not just a 'how to' video but a 'why we do it this way' video. This makes a difference when choosing a youtube DIY video. Cheers. Kate.

It's like you've been checking my pole out and knew I needed help keeping it up. Guilty of using incorrect rawl plug/screw combi.

Hi can I use this method when I’ve only got plaster board to go through? . Should I use a batten ? If so what fixings should I use. Thank you

Any chance you can send products/brands and links?
Recently bought some new curtain rods (no holes in the wall yet), however the drywall feels very thing and weak.

The brands of some of the bigger raw plugs were called ""Fischer" These are available at either screw fix or other large retail outlets, hope this helps

My walls are concrete prefab, so trying to drill into them they either crumble, or the drill hits stones

If you wall is really crumbly, you could could repair and fill the holes - and redrill them - similar to this video -
      th-cam.com/video/908mAchfa1g/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YZq-XDCQYxai_Owe
or put a white wooden batten across the top of the window and screw your pole brackets to that

A new curtain pole has been put up, but the left hand side will not hold.
Decrators say the lintel is crumbling when they drill into it.
Also some parts of the Lintel you cannot drill in to very far at all.
How do I get the new Curtain pole up, and to stay attached to the wall.

it depends how deep the decorators have drilled on the left side, that is crumbling. You could either try repairing the hole with some Wood Filler (it has 2 compounds) you need to mix these together and then fill the hole completely in. it is super strong after 45 mins you will be able to drill it, you will then need to redrill the hole with wooden drill bit for the rawl plug. Or if that does not work you could put a white wooden batten across the top of the inside of your window, screw this to the wall in several places and then screw the curtain pole brackets to it at the sides. The wooden batten does not look as nice so I would try using wood filler first to repair the hole and then re-drill it . Hope this helps

@@Woodyattcurtains thank you. I have thought about a wooden baton, but I don't really want that.

@@sandrabartlett2739 yes the wooden pole does not look as nice, get your decorators to try using strong wood filler to repair the hole and then redrill it as explained above, hopefully this this will work

If this did not work, you could screw a wooden batten along the top of the wall and then screw the curtain pole onto that.
