Made by the Forge is a family run, blacksmithing business. Employing local people and passing on skills. The Forge makes high quality, hand crafted ironwork for the home; solid curtain poles, kitchen pan racks and other homeware items. We combine tradition with a modern approach to interiors. Made to last with a lifetime guarantee.
Made by the Forge felt there was a need to help their customers as much as possible so they have produced various helpful videos showing how to measure up a window for a straight curtain pole, a circular bay window and a square bay window along with tutorials showing how to actually install and put up the various poles. Online on the Made by the Forge website there is a very helpful online pricing calculator and measurement checker which needs your individual measurements then it calculates the price for you. It is an easy and convenient way to shop. Anytime day or night.

nice one
Nice clear demonstration. I've put up many but there will no doubt be a first timer viewing and this should be of great help. So Thanks
Shoudo have ended with cuttains up 😫
You’re a GREAT teacher ! I’ve watched other videos and they didn’t take their time explaining ! Thank you 😊
Wall plugs??
Hi
Love this, TY for sharing!
Nice brackets, handmade then? No one is mentioning bracket spacing, I can't remember the rule for that. Too bad, but nice shelf! 🇨🇦
Thanks for the video
How the tits did he do this without rawl plugs?
Not a good idea to have your curtains blocking your alarm room sensor.....
Just a quick tip - If you are fixing some brackets to the frame and some to the wall - it is important to not measure from the frame across to the wall as this will 'Cut The Corner' and give false measurements. An example would be Point A and Point D are on the wall outside of the frame and Point B and Point C are on the frame. A dead straight line from A to B would not be parallel to the wall as it would cut across the frame. It would lead to a pole being made to wide for your space. Contact me if you have this and I will help at enquiries@madebytheforge.co.uk
Very helpful! Thank You!
You're welcome!
Asshole why did you even bother making this video if you were not going to tell people the specifics about the brackets?
How do you secure the curtains at each side?
Do I have to worry about drilling into any pipes or electrical ?
Hi Richard Wonder if you can advise, I have moved into a new bedroom and struggling to put up a curtain rail. Your curtain pole holder has small holes, mine has big hole in the middle so I can't use normal screws, they need to have big heads otherwise they fall through. I have attempted a few different screws but it seems as though nothing holds the curtain pole up. Prior there were some plastic screw holders in the wall so I wonder if I need to use them to hold the screws in. Can you please show how to drill them into the wall, would appreciate it - thank you very much
What type of drill do I need, ??? Wall plugs, what about 2 x1 timber fir extra support. Do you offer live chat
They are called recesss curtain poles!! For everyone asking the name
Inside Mount Curtain Rod Bracket
Just a little tip, a lady whose video I watched said the pole should be two thirds up from the top of the window to the ceiling.
I saw that. She's sticking to the one size fits all method.
Clear as mud, Has no relation to 99.9 percent of bay windows .....
We have a new video on the 99.9% th-cam.com/video/PyiSUEV0Ofs/w-d-xo.html
No rawl plugs or tape measures were harmed during the making of this video... 😂
How do you know how far to drill?
Measure the length of the rawl plugs you are using and drill the hole deep enough for them.
What do you recommend doing if the pole has a centre bracket? You would then hit the lintel when drilling. Do you recommend drilling a concrete lintel with an SDS and a steel one with a non masonry bit a bit smaller than the screw size? That pole was hollow but you do solid ones as well right? What fixings do you recommend for something very heavy?
Does he mean curtain rod?
Master
No wall plugs needed?
Thank you so much. Managed to put mine up today :)
What are those brackets called? Do they have a name?

Clear instructions and demonstration, much appreciated thankyou.
Was that a spider?
Hi there, I wanna ask why you don’t use a drywall anchor? My wall is built by wood. Just see if it’s the same🙏🏼
Very useful video, appreciated.
Incredibly helpful video Richard, thank you, and thanks for all your patience and advice helping me out on the phone now that I'm a customer of MBTF - sometimes, idiots like me really NEED that idiot's guide to what seems (but actually isn't) a simple job, and your input has been genuinely invaluable! Very best, Harry Harrison!!
A great tip on how to get the pole straight, thank you : )
No problem Paul, glad we helped.
Are you drilling into drywall or wood? If drywall, don't you need an anchor?
Drywall in as much as blockwork of some kind and yes you need a rawl plug to fix the bracket firm.
Thankyou so much
What are the hooks called to put the pole on?
These are called Brackets. We sell them on our website www.madebytheforge.co.uk and I hope you like them.
That’s a medieval curtain pole , I guess.
Nice1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣OUT OF 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣👌
Where did you buy please
Thank u ,nicely explained..
No problem, thanks for watching.
Did you have to custom cut the pole?
What if im drilling n hitting metal or sreel
Then you drill about 100mm either side or higher
Thanks alot
