When I was a child, my mother who was born in 1915, told me how hard it was for her to sing God Save the Queen when the Queen's father, George VI died and and Elizabeth ascended the throne. And now, here I am, 70 years later, having to learn to sing God Save the king

Noblesse Oblige is the term you are looking for. Her Royal Highness was not trained for the role as a child. She was the daughter of "The Spare". It was only after Her Uncle abdicated that She began training to be Monarch. Interestingly enough, Her Royal Highness exemplified the role of the Aristocracy in Britain. In direct contrast to the US, where money could buy exemption from Compulsory Service, the British Upper Class suffered the highest percentage of loss of any group during both World Wars.

It will be a LONG TIME before there once again sits a Queen on the throne of the UK. A very long time. Could be as long as 100 years or more, and it would, of course, depend on who Prince George's firstborn child is. Remember, it was by no means written in the cards when Elizabeth was born that she was to someday become Queen. Life is a funny size, Ms Otton. And full of surprised.
The question is, how King Charles will reign for.

      I know what you mean.
When you mention her grace, her walk always reminded me of a prima ballerina.
When you mention her dignity, she always kept her thoughts to herself when her racist husband put his foot in it. A dignified silence.
Beauty.....royalties gain was glamour modelling loss. I wish she'd done playboy when she was younger.
When you say dedication, totally agree. In the modern world, to see someone born with great privilege cutting the occasional ribbon and making speeches, whilst attending many free lunches.....dedication, that's what that is.

Everyone is entitled to their own choices, decisions, and opinions, and I am not going to disrespect your personal feelings on the issue. I am hoping you will extend the same courtesy to me. And if you re read my comment, yes - I only mentioned Queen Elizabeth II, but I never said she was thr ONLY good female role model who has ever lived. There are so many others, too. She is one of them, in my humble opinion, and considering the nature of the video clip in question, I was keeping my thoughts and comments on the person in question. Hope you are having an amazing day.

@@kelvinpell4571Honestly, HRM Queen Elizabeth II was on the throne for nearly 71 years, and was a grown woman when she ascended to said Throne. She was 96 when shebpassed 2 years ago. Nancy Pelosi is 84 RIGHT NOW. Queen Elizabeth did alot more as the Queen during said nearly 71 year reign than Nancy Pelosi has done in her entire life. I'm not saying Nancy Pelosinis awonderful or horrible at her job, I know she has done things for the U.S, but hasn't had nearly as long of a career and hasn't done as much as the Queen. There are alot of American women whom I have alot ofnrespect for, in history. Queen Elizabeth II made history in alot of ways.
