- In this one, we undertake one awesome project for the Maker's Challenge, and agate blade folding knife, but it doesn't stop there, because we used a high flash Iris agate slab to make our blade! Using a bar of brass keystock, a sheet of aluminum, and two planks of wood, we fabricated our handle completely from scratch! This was such an amazingly fun project and I look forward to making more for sure! Thank you so much for watching, I hope you enjoy, and I will have another one out soon!

This really is the coolest knive ever!
The Michigan rocks channel sent me here.
I'm first in line for the "I want a knife like this" (a non-existent contest). Add my name to the growing list of 1000's that will be wanting one. I think Theo's schedule will be full for at least a lifetime or two.. Waiting anxiously to see the backstory on how this was created.
You are a craftsman of rare ability. Bravo!
Oh, my Goodness.. The Rainbow colors are awesome.. That is the finest blade I have ever seen.. Thank you for showing us the beauty of a stone blade..
Theo, you've outdone yourself! Somehow I didn't realize until you said sharpen it that you were making a blade. I thought you were making a handle which was puzzling because I couldn't understand how the iris would show. Duh. The blade is absolutely beautiful! Wonderous! Thanks for sharing and for sponsoring the maker's challenge.
beautiful job Theo! the Abalone accent is right on. the blade shimmers ❤ all and all thanks for putting the makers challenge together.
That is really nice!. I never would have thought the agate would keep from breaking.
Wow, that is incredible! Not only a beautiful stone but the craftsmanship of the handle and technical aspect of the mechanics is phenomenal. Job well done 👏 👏👏👏
The knife turned out amazing! Incredibly beautiful! Great job I think you actually out did the chessboard.
Theo, you have mad skills! You obviously work well under pressure. Thank you for the Maker's Challenge. I think you are going to get quite a few orders for your knife "thingy".❤😊❤
That's so incredibly cool! You've got quite an amazing brain to be able to put all the pieces together in such a way that the knife is actually functional. And you did it all the way from chicken scratch to an iris agate that you found by your own self on the river! Wow! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Its, by far, is the most unique and beautiful knife that I've ever seen!!! And we got to watch it being made. Thank you for Maker's Challenge. I've had so much fun watching all of you create so many wonderful things.
Wow, Theo! You are certainly gifted! The knife is absolutely amazing and so beautiful! Just stunning! Keep up the great work! 😊
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: Theo... this piece is awesome on so many levels!
Maker's Challenge is getting bigger and better each year. It's like the Super Bowl for us TH-cam rockhounds! I'm so happy for you and Alexis! I look forward to watching your continued growth on your channels.
You definitely have a gift buddy. Creative talent like this is so captivating. Well done!
Truly an amazing piece of art. Always pushing yourself for the maker's challenge.
You are quite the maker! Love that Iris Agate! Great job!
An iris agate lockblade knife is not something I would have ever dreamed up, but now that I have seen one, I can honestly say, that is totally freaking awesome!❤❤❤
Theo, you are too funny! I enjoy each of you videos immensely and this was even better than ever. This project is your best ever! Thanks for showing us each step along the way & how you did them. The knife is beyond beautiful! You are so talented & willing to share it with us is awesome! Thank you for being you. :)
Your knife turned out VERY NICE!!! ❤
Beautiful, technical, love that agate. But, but, but... The other maker's talked about doing something out of their comfort zone, unique to anything they had tried. And this is not your first. You told us you had done one of these before. The videos I've seen this year were all really great.
I could listen to you all day! You're so funny Theo! Your creations are amazing as well.
You are so talented. I really like watching you work. I love Iris. The knife is gorgeous. You did you proud. Agree it’s cool!

I’m still reeling over the fact it’s a folding lockback. Wow. Can’t wait to watch this
Absolutely beautiful work Theo, er um, basement dude. Lol. This year’s maker’s was phenomenal capped off with this wonderful submission. We need more! More makers! Get more people! Loved it all. Thanks.
Absolutely stunning work! That iris pops and has a great shape that matches the blade, great job selecting the perfect piece. The inlay was awesome too. All around nice knife that will look amazing on display and has a great story behind it. 🤘
Dude, this thing is over the top incredible. The knife craftsmanship is enough on its own (especially with the inlay and locking mechanism) but that IRIS! Just next level wonderful. Thanks for sharing the great project and putting the Maker's Challenge together every year for us all to be amazed by. Cheers!
That is so awesome! Theo, you are a master! Thanks for sharing!
Saw the first one and I think you outdid yourself on this one!👍👍

That is amazing! Great craftsmanship
Awesome work, actually it’s amazing. Thank you 😊
I got a bunch of iris slabs, now I know what to do with one 🍻
Travis, do you still make fishing lures? Have you made any with iris agate? That would really get the fishies attention!
You have some amazing talent! Wow
Beautiful work!!!
This is too cool!! Would love one of my own!!
Love this knife. You do such phenomenal work on everything you do. Now i thought that "the makers challenge " was for you to make something you have never done before, and that's why it's a "challenge." I've been known to be wrong in the past. LOL. Or maybe you could have all the viewers choose the one they like best. That way, there is an actual winner to the "challenge." Just a thought.
Totally awesome.
Beautiful! That was a fun video to watch!
That’s stunning beautiful. You’re so artistic and an amazing craftsman. So skilled. I wish I had a 1/16th of your artistic ability. Nicely done Theo. 😊
Man this is incredible! Your talent, creativity and craftsmanship always impress us, love it!
Love this knife! Can you make one for all of us? LOL, seriously though-awesome work...and great idea to use iris agate, and then have the good luck to have one so perfect for this! Thanks for sharing and for the Makers Challenge!

Fantastic!
I just found your Channel randomly and i must say thank you for that awesome video! It helps me a lot with my rock craft´s. Thanks for share the proces with us! Greetings to you from germany 😎👍👍👍
Did you ever finish the makers mark? This piece deserves it! Gorgeous!!
I'm legitimately impressed. The fact you did all that with a Foredom is very impressive. The sax spring was a touch of genius. That iris is flippin' beautiful! Please don't do any flipping/fidgeting with that blade, though. I would be too paranoid about the agate breaking to carry it anywhere, but that definitely deserves a prominent location in a display case. I'm even more impressed that you got it sharp enough to cut paper (kinda). It cuts paper better than some of the newer Gerber & Ka-Bar knives I've used. I wonder if you could get it sharper and with better "bite" if you were to grind the edge more perpendicular to the blade, and with a lower grit, rather than parallel the way you did with a high polish. With regular steel knives, depending on the steel, a high grit mirror finish on an edge will actually dampen the ability of the edge to bite into the material you're cutting. A perfect polish takes away the microscopic saw teeth at the apex. There's a perfect balance of bite & sliciness.
Enough of my ramblings...
You crushed it out the park!
👏 👏 👏 Bravo 👏 👏 👏 Encore!
I'm already looking forward to next year 😅
Thanks for bringing together so many creative rock minds once a year for this titillating event for rock lovers everywhere. 👊🐻

Totally and completely hypnotized by the Iris and at a loss for words. This is incredibly stunning. Most gorgeous stabby stabber I have ever seen! Your entire process of making this…you make it look so easy, which it is not and it just shows how incredibly gifted and creative you are. Theo thank you for this event called The Maker’s Challenge…you made this happen. I think #5 challenge has been The Best one yet!
Oh y’all hit like real quick
What a beautiful piece. Look deep into the iris. It's speaking to you. " Take Alexis out for ice cream". Mmmm

Is that a Montana moss 👀
How do you keep finding Iris Agate? I've searched for it, but not had any success. Oh, and nice knife by the way. congrats.
First off, that's a Keeper. Secondly, that is NOT a knife to take into the woods. I might carry it in a pocket to get the feel, but it's too dam pretty and pretty special. ❤️😊
I’m so excited! 🤍This is going to rock our worlds! 🤪
