- KINGSLEY NORTH -
Kingsley North is a lapidary store in Michigan's U.P. They make a great cab machine and sell many other brands too. They have a huge selection rough rock, tumblers, grit, jewelry supplies etc. at good prices. I buy most of my coarse grit from here in 45 lb. bags. It's the best price I have found. If you buy using the following link, I make a small commission.

- THE ROCK SHED -
I buy a lot of lapidary supplies from The Rock Shed. I don't make money from your purchases there, but they have good prices and good service. This is where I buy my finer grits and polish.

2000 years later when archaeologists find this : "it must've been aliens!"
Great video 🎉
The thing is there is no particular reason an ancient egyptian couldn't have made this, they did a lot of stoneware and you can use sand grit to help grind away and polish. Diamond power cutters are very nice to have but aren't a requirement. It makes you wonder if some statues had free moving pieces like this.
@@mandowarrior123 they should have made some of them fart too just like real people
@@mandowarrior123there are huge stone chains in
Temples in India as well as rotating collumns
Also several technolithic sites around the world have massive doors with hinges all built from a solid piece of rock. Pretty incredible
if it is perfectly symetrical up to the thickness of a hair and was suppposed to be made 4000 year ago does that really seem similar? lol
@@user-fc1zs1wh9g that sort of thing was likely done in bronze.
AMAZING. You have to be some kind of wizard! Well done Rob. Thank you for being part of The Maker’s Challenge.
Maths, not magic.
A true rock god!! INCREDIBLE!! ROCK ON!! 😃👍🏻🪨⛏️
@@jackday420 not even math lol.

First time hear, but I really appreciate that despite clearly knowing a lot about rocks, there’s still joy in “this sounds cool when you clink it like this”
It doesn't take a lot to amuse me.
Crazy how much effort it was for our ancestors to make stone chain... glad the stone age is over.
That is so dang cool!!! Ive been wanting to do this for a very long time so i was super excited to see your thumbnail this morning! That cane out absolutely gorgeous and you made it look so easy! Fantastic video as always and thank you so much for being a part of the challenge!😄
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: I'm so proud of you, Theo! I've been watching you since you started. People like you and Rob do so much to support the hobby!
I cut out a few hours to make it look a little easier than it was. Thanks for continuing to invite me to do this. I kind of panic every year trying to think of an idea. This was actually not what I originally planned to do, but a piece of equipment didn't arrive in time to do that project. Maybe next year.
I know nothing about rock or wood carving but I am impressed
Literally took the words out of my mouth there, top comment, this dude did incredible
I’m an amateur rock hound in Michigan, newly retired and looking forward to going to northern Michigan this summer to learn what gemstones a hobbyist like myself can find. Great video, very impressive
They seem very good video on TH-cam about Kewawana peninsula, Copper
You'll find plenty. Lake Superior is my favorite lake for rock hunting.
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: Time for another "Maker's Challenge."🎉🎉🎉Yay!!! Rob, you sure outdid yourself on this one... it's amazing! Thank you for being an ambassador for rockhounding and inspiring a new generation of lapidary enthusiasts!
Glad to do it!
Great project. Excellent tutorial on planning and the use of tools. That deck for lowering the blade height, well done. Thank you for the time.
These makers chalenges are inspirational.
I enjoyed this little project. There were definitely some challenges along the way.
Wow that is pretty! Sounds like glass when you jiggle it around. Very cool!
I know! I love that sound.
I hope you got your dusting done upstairs as well as in the basement. LOL. NANCY has spoken. 😂❤
She caught me!

Oh my gosh Rob, that was impressive! It turned out fabulous, and you certainly mastered that challenge. 🏆🥇
This was not a challenge. It was just like polishing a Petoskey stone. Easy peasy.
Bazinga!!! Now that is quite the accomplishment Rob!
Incredible work, Rob! It's beautiful, and I love the sound. I'm amazed.
It looks amazing!🎉❤ And I love how you can see all the fossils 🤩💚✨️
I learned a new thing today! Thank you for showing that you can work stone in a bucket of water, using a regular drill press. It's given me some fun ideas. Thank you!
I hope you have success with your new ideas.
😅Exacting and painstaking work. And it turned out fabulously! You’re so amazing, Rob. That is one of the coolest rocks/chain links I have ever seen. Congratulations!
It's the only one I have ever seen.

I was just faking my way through this one.

Good Job, Rob!! I look forward to the Challenge every year to see all the creative ideas that flow. Love what you made.
Kind of useless, but it was fun to do.
@@MichiganRocks But you were able to make it -- that's more than most people will even try to accomplish.
All I can say is WOW. And in its own way, it is beautiful.
Great job. Also some good tips along the way. Thank you
WOW.. I was extremely pleased to see how incredibly well you were able to make chain-links.. You did well & they didn't fracture .. Love your polishing .. Congratulations..
I lucked out on the fracturing. I cut several rectangular prisms and this one was not only the longest, but also the most fracture free.
Fantastic work and very impressed with your honesty about the tools and yourself. I wish I could see that in person!
Wow! That was so amazing! I wasn't even aware you could even make chain out of rock! And not only was it possible, but it was beautiful and you're right, that sound was so satisfying too! Well done! And Thank you, for taking part again in this years Makers Challenge! Everybody's projects are "off the chain!" Lol! ❤
If you can make it out of wood, why not rock? it was a challenge for sure, but the whole thing went surprisingly well.
Wonderful job! Such an interesting craft and a very satisfying result!
I’m so impressed! Excellent work!
Great work Rob!! That’s a lot of work and came out fantastic!!

Unbelievable work, you are one talented rockhound!
Sounds like shaking dice, That was great. I was amazed that could be done! Good luck with it.
That was highly entertaining, and I really love your chain! Great job. Thank You!
Very cool! I wouldn’t have guessed how much of this is done by hand from the thumbnail! Beautiful!
I would have preferred to do more with power tools, but there just wasn't space.
Excellent! Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day.
That is so cool
That is absolutely incredible! You are an expert craftsman. Just amazing. It's beautiful.
Thanks!
Whoa!!! I can't wait to see how you did this!
I love the sound it makes. Cool process to see.
