- I built a walnut tambour wooden rolling door record cabinet with 3d carved rolling wood door that makes wood look like its flowing like water. The rolling wood tambour door is made from a single 8 foot long black walnut live edge slab I got from Vintage Reclaimed Lumber in Oklahoma City.

Well actually, you use computers to do all your work because you don't have the skills required to do it without them.

You’re soooo jellly!
Hahaha! Awesome response!
Well actually, because you used auto correct to complete your comment it spelt your name incorrectly 😂😂
You didn’t just build a record storage cabinet.. you built a family heirloom. Beautiful!
I agree. If it were me I would be so proud of this family heirloom for many generations to come. Absolutely a beautiful work of art.
Well actually. You pushed yourself on this one and boy did it turn out amazing we missed you this year at WBC. hope all is well and I think this piece overtime will become a pretty iconic specimen for you
Love ya brother, hope you’re well! I should be at wbc next year, but needed a year off.
Jesus Christ what is this?! It is almost unbelievable how far modern carpentry has come! What an awesome piece of art! Well done!!
Well actually Jonny, this is my first of your projects. It's not my style but why should you care! You made something with machines but you put your soul into it and made it human, huge respect for that. I'm a pretty traditional wooden boatbuilder that cut my teeth with complex shapes achieved with hand tools and usually turn my nose up at woodworkers that rely too heavily on machines and CAD who make lifeless pieces, but there was something different about this. It's the first time I've seen something like it. Whatever you charge for this it's worth every penny, I see the effort and expense you go for perfection because I am the same. I love to see good problem solving, that's all we really do at the end of the day. I see you're going to go far on your journey and I'm here for it. Nice work
Absolutely incredible work dude! I personally think this might be my favorite build of yours to date. These are the kind of videos I like to watch because they make me want to push myself as a woodworker. 🤘
Thanks a ton!
@@JonnyBuilds Dude, you are constantly talking over the build. Like chill. We can be quiet, let's just enjoy the build.
@bigbulk688 nobody cares dude. Watch someone else lmao 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@JonnyBuilds also, as a bartender, may I just say, 90% of top shelf whiskey drinkers I have served are exactly as depicted(the rest are lovely). They will correct you even when you're agreeing with them 😅
Within the last two days, two woodworkers I watch both made a record cabinet…foureyes furniture and now you
Add the third woodworker to your list. Go watch "pedulla studio" the guy is amazing.
I noticed that too. Could someone be playing them? Get a bunch of people to make a custom piece then buy the one they like?
Well actually, I think this is a sign. You need to buy a record player.
Pokémon
FESTOL TOOLS I COULD USE BROTHER MY DAUGHTER IS OKLAHOMA RIGHT NO SHE CAN PICK UP A T SHIRT LOVE YOUR WORK.
You will probably never see this comment, but an old woodworkers/construction finishing trick my dad taught me was to mix some saw dust of the wood you're working with, with wood glue to make a paste to fill those "oops" holes and gouges. Once dry, sanded, and sealed, you'd never know it was there.
In my experience, they show up again when finished, because the glue doesn't take the finish in the same way as the natural wood.
@@JohnDlugosz Was that a "Well actually" comment without actually using "well actually"?
@@JohnDlugoszStraight 🤡 reply...
Let ask you something... What do you think is the *entire point* of using _sawdust_ from the same wood? 🤔
If it stood out _so much_ as to negate the use of this *very common* method used by woodworkers; that means it was a _skill issue_ and *you* used way too much glue to sawdust ratio in your filler 💯
Also, seeing as this method is used for filling gaps/cracks that are _way too small_ for an inlaid patch of new wood and the wax filler pens on the market don't finish the same as wood _either..._ What would you offer as a better alternative? 🤔
TH-cam comments are absolutely infested with 🤡's who are quick to critique or tell others how "they are wrong" without adding anything *actually useful* to discussion themselves 💯
Old but well known procedure
So long ! Like I say you just don’t stop talking!
We need more Seth's in the world. He's completely right to be calling people out.
Well actually, this comment is vastly under appreciated
This is definitely the most beautiful and mesmerizing piece of furniture I’ve seen made in the last year. Love the work you do.
3:30 Raphael Teenage Ninja Turtle 😮 - Another great piece! 3D carvings are great feature on furniture.
That turned out badass!!! Well done!!! I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for including the faux pas and fixes. Great job!
Well actually, the truth is Jonny was Seth in the story.
Well actually, these are called "Jonny Doors" now, because you just owned the genre! Gorgeous!
Reminds me of a saying; "Perfection is the enemy of Good enough" .. keep up the good work Jonny!
Well actually…that was the most AMAZING piece of woodworking I’ve ever seen!!! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Simply stunning pal... A joy to watch from start to finish.
Much appreciated.
Love the wavy tambour, thing of beauty!
The work you do goes beyond restoration, and how to bring to life something that has been forgotten in time. Congratulations on the beautiful work and keep it up. A hug straight from Brazil
Love it ! Thanks for the information and your time! You make me push a little harder into what I think I cant do. "Well Actually".
There are no words.....other than stunning! You are so gifted.
Well actually, this is by far one of my most favorite builds by you!!!! 🤯🙏🏽❤️
Well, actually, that's the coolest furniture build I've seen on TH-cam.
It's always nice to watch a professional work
"Well Actually" I love your work. Not traditional in the "Old School Way" that I follow. But we all need to accept change and progress. I appreciate and respect your skill and talent Jonny Builds!
21:42 Raphael on the bottom picture frame. Well actually I hope I am the first to spot it. This cabinet look awesome, I'd give an arm and a leg to have something like this in my home.
Good catch
I missed it even in slow mode
This beautifully carved, black-walnut record cabinet with a continuous-grained, tambor door made from a slab is breathtaking. But in the well-produced video and narration documenting the clever build, the genius woodworker and philosopher also shares his personal path to craftsmanship: “pursue progress not perfection.” And then “wing it.” Good advice for all artists. Love this!
i saw this cabinet on instagram and litterally told my mom how in love i was with the design, i just found this video. its an instant subscribe for me, keep going!
"Well, actually," I'm subscribed to over 80 channels, but really only watch a half dozen or so. Yours is one of them.
That story about the coach getting Pythagorean wrong reminded me of a guy from our church who often got words wrong, or just used a wrong word. For example, when the kids were going to do a skit that needed a narrator, he kept saying "narranator". Like in the coach story, everybody knew what he meant so just went with it. The time he made it hard to just go with it was when we were loading up gear to take up to the local park for our annual Christmas carols event. We had a lightweight lectern that hadn't been loaded yet, and the guy called out "what are we doing with this rectum?" I said, "Sorry, what?" and he said "The rectum. Are we taking the rectum with us?" Our poor pastor was within earshot but out of view and almost collapsed in silent laughter. After the event, we put a nice clear label on it that said "LECTERN".
At least he didn't call it a 'podium'!
"well actually" this is a beautiful piece, and you are an amazing wood worker :) Cant wait to see what else you make in the future and to go back and watch some of your older content! Love your work!
Thank you sir. I appreciate you presenting a preview of completed project at start of video. It seems so many people use the same rigid, thoughtless marketing plan/video script designed by marketers from 1957.
Well actually, I fell asleep, but I went back and finished the video. Really liked this project.
Well actually 🤓 this build turned out really well, despite the number of necessary problem solving moments. Very beautiful piece, I hope your family loves it!
This was completed actually well….
serious custom work at its finest.👊🏽
Well actually, that was a really nice build! Congrats! I love the way the doors appear to "flow" around the corners.
I love your videos! If you ever run into that problem again when making a sliding door, you can cut out the back corner to slide in the wood door. The back corner would allow for the wood to bend in the same shape of corner so you can utilize the bend in the board. Hopefully that makes sense. Awesome build!!
Yeah, that was my thought too - cut it so it only has to bend in the way that it can bend! That would make the cut slightly less hidden, but given he ended up having to cut half the back anyway, it would probably still be better!
Ditto! The slot can lie just as the radius meets the linear section of the back. The door enters at an angle and can slide around the corner.
Great build!
You can make the entry slot for the tambor doors extending a straight groove off a corner.
Hope it helps next time! 💪
Should have started your comment with "well actually"
Great minds.
Well actually.....WAY COOL PROJECT!! This is one of the most impressive pieces I've ever seen. Awesome! Also, "Progress over perfection" is great advice; I have a few projects going that I'm over.
beautiful piece, it is worth the time and effort. Thank you
“Don’t be a Seth” should go on your merch!

😂
Well, actually, I think this is the coolest woodworking project I ever watched on YT. Absolutely stunning result!
Well actually this may be the most interesting beautiful build of yours I have seen. Bravo!!
The doors look wavetastic.
Wavelicious
Count how many times you say cnc 😂😂😂😂
83 times
This piece is absolutely stunning, and I love the thought of having this for years to come for your family. I do have one thing to recommend though that you might have done but we didnt see, and that is to wax the groove and the joint at the top and bottom of the panel doors. This will help the doorsto run along the groove alot easier!! But keep up the amazing work!!
When did all the wood working TH-camrs turn into professional yappers
?????
Very informative and enjoyable. The anecdotes were relatable. Thank you. I will be back.
well actually You did a fantastic job with this project. I have been watching a bunch of woodworkers doing different projects and just learning looking to get into it myself
Great job but too much talk.
Mute
if only there were a button to turn off the noise. oh well
Are you new? He always narrates his videos.
I whole-heartedly disagree. There are plenty of channels that build without narration, go watch one of those. Most of us are here because we like the narration.
This aint an asmr channel, buddy
Well actually...you are right; progress over perfection.
Oh my, oh my! Gorgeous piece! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

The cabinet looks fantastic amazing. I love watching you making it thank you.
Great Vid.. Thanks JB. God Bless 🇺🇸
Well actually, its a very nice build and I'm very impressed! Thanks for sharing. I do scale sci-fi models that light up so I appreciate the level of craftsmanship involved.
Well actually, this is truly magical. What a joy to see the process and end result. You've outdone yourself here, Jonny. Perfect! 😉
Well actually. One of your best pieces so far. Absolutely stunning
Well actually, this is the first video of yours I’ve seen. Incredible work Johnny! The carved doors may have convinced me that it’s finally time to invest in a CNC machine. I’ve been around some great craftsman over the years, but you my young friend are an inspiration. After 30 years of woodworking it’s inspiring to see some great talent coming up.
Thank you sir 🙏
An extraordinary piece. Hugely well done!
Well actually...I'm insanely jealous of your skill, and I absolutely loved both the video as well as the finished piece. Bravo, Maestro!
Beautiful work! You have definitely inspired myself and I’m sure many others, to use the rolling door design in a future projects/builds. I would personally prefer a good balance of wood and metal if I was to try and replicate this for myself. Awesome work, thanks for sharing!
This is easily one of the bet projects i have ever seen. What a thing of beauty.
Well actually, this is one of the coolest builds I have seen. Inspires me to want to go down to the workshop and try something similar in a smaller scale.
Jonny,
I really like everything about your presentation and your narration, and your knowledge of woodworking.
Well actually, this is so cool! Love this cabinet, and the purple heart is just the right touch.
That is insane cool. Thank you! 😊
Phenomenal skills! I love this project.
Well actually this video popped up randomly and I love your problem solving skill and the finished product itself. The fact that you were your own client made this build more interesting 😆
Absolute amazing! This cabinet is a thing of beauty! So impressed! And, well actually, bourbon is whiskey, just different from Canadian, Scotch, Irish, straight and blended whiskeys 😊
It is so gorgeous!!! Absolutely loved it!
And people continue to do great things. Very nice.
This turned out so beautifully. Bravo on your dedication.
Truly impressive build, I wish you were working for mu shop years ago!!! Absolutely beautiful!!!
I loved it my husband liked the idea of the doors it’s not a common door and that what we liked most of all “WELL ACTUALLY “ we loved it amazing work❤❤❤❤
Lovely video. I think the cabinet would look great with some ornate silver handles. But it is so mesmerizing as it is.
Well actually that was epic!! I love, love, love that cabinet! Would (wood!) buy it in a heartbeat!💕
Beautiful piece. It’s an insane project. Loads of details. Great video
so dope. Definitely want to see the build for the bourbon box add-on!
“Well actually” that is absolutely stunning. How you come up with these ideas, and then create them is beyond me.
Well actually, I learned so much from this build. Thanks man!
Ohh woo this is so nice!!
I actually really love the thicker slices on the tambour. Between the 3D design on them and the thickness of the sections, it looks so unlike anything I've seen before. Love it man.
🙌🙌
Progress over perfection I like that thanks👍
That is a ridiculously sick cabinet. This is pure talent on display. To say exceptionally well done would sell this piece way too short.
This is totally insanely great....!
Well actually, great build. I am quite impressed with your machinery. Congrats from Brazil.
what an awesome build, incredible
Beautiful beautiful work!
Beautiful!! You're so talented!
What a talent! I am speechless, love your work bud!

Wow! Very creative, and it's stunning! ❤

Well actually, that was such a nice build, I feel inspired to sit down and sketch some ideas for my own next build
Well actually, I fast forwarded to the end. Beautiful record cabinet!!
