DOS 4.0 was out in 1989, but it was such a buggy memory hog that nobody liked to use it, and many computer manufacturers stuck with DOS 3.3 until DOS 5.0 came out in 1990.
The graphics adapter likely switches between real CGA and MGA depending on the monitor type hooked up. If the BIOS has an option for 1.44MB 3.5" drives, they will likely work if hooked up to that controller. The standard was around for 2 years at that point, so the hardware is likely there. Most folks outside of PS/2s were still using 5.25" disks until the early 90s.
That must be one simple printer interface and one complicated video interface, yea they're switched, that's pretty funny. I hope when you have the time you scan some of these documents and upload them to a vintage computer website, I bet someone could use those rare manuals too :)
Computers are still shipped with manuals; however, they may be of a much smaller size (less concise), and it depends on the computer you buy. Both my MacBook Air and my M11x came with a manual. And, that mistake was really sad...a printer port being the size of a serial port and a VGA port being twice the size? Very nice.
Printer and video ports are flipped. As for manuals. Most PC's just come with a setup guide or get started guide that tells the user to plug stuff in to stuff turn on and then follow the on screen instructions.
I'd love to see you build/upgrade a really high-end 8088 with vga graphics (yes, there exists 8-bit vga-cards) and with creative music system, and try to play the most advanced possible games on it =)
I'm can not say I'm not affected by the comments, but by looking at the picture, it seems like someone would have a hard time putting their SVGA/VGA (not sure) cable into the printer port.
Very nice score on the 5¼" Floppy disks!
Cool system, definitely worth saving for awhile.

Man, that's one wide video output plug.
and short printer port...
Sometimes I really wish I was born sooner to live in the 70's-80's

Printer Interface is Video Output Interface (VGA) and Video Output Interface is Printer Interface (LPT1).

nice score. I love those 5.25 disks. I have 2 apple 2e systems with hundreds of programs on 5.25 plus hundreds of blank and ibm disks.

It can. I produced a mod for 2x higher graphics settings and it can run it flawlessly with 120+ FPS.
they mixed the printer and video output on the manual!
i was about to comment that!
Have you archived those diskettes yet and put them online? some people are interested in putting OEM and utility disks on their respective PCs
Aaah I miss the feel and smell of 5/14 inch diskettes!

Every time you say crisp I shiver. It sounds SO WEIRD AND I DON'T KNOW WHY!
LOL
Thats awesome you got the literature, its always interesting to look through old manuels.
Did you really call the number?
Nice interresting video
can you please do another video on the betson claw machine, I really want to see how it turned out
dang. that's cool. Is that the computer running in the background? I hear one behind your speech.
i love the way you say in strip clubs and family places
Won't be the first incorrect labeling I've seen on older manuals from back then.
my laptop came with a setup poster and norton software card. that's it
really!? did somebody not check that out?
So a "strip joint" is a family type place. LOL :D Mom can we go to a strip joint I want to play the games there.
The printer port and video port are mixed up.
I see the mistake in the manual the printer port was the screen port and screen port was the printer port (sorry for my bad english)

The printer and video output interface labels are in the wrong place. :3
The Video and Printer connections are labeled backwards.
the printer interface is is opposed to be the the video output interface
The mistake if my eyes do not decieve me, seems to be Acer mislabled the printer and video ports.
video and printer port labels are reversed
Video and print ports are switched
Can you make a video of the candy machine?
video and printer ports are wrong on the diagram
Card edge connector?
damnit beat me to it
Is the mistake printer and video is mis matched?
I forgot. Does this computer support the networking add-on for DOS? what the heck do you call that?
Printer and video interface needs to be changed around relabeled....
Acer Print fail - Video and printer label needs swaping
how old is that computer
older than you
the printer and video are mismatched
Video an printer mixed up

Lol
Printer Interface and Video Output Interface are on the wrong ports
