This is the week we have been looking forward to all summer. The Big Reveal! We are moved in, and we have some things set up. Yes, we are lacking some necessities like some furniture, art for the walls and decor, but it will come in time. We really love the space we’ve created for us to live in during the summer. We will continue to bring you shorter updates as the summer and fall progress.

Bearing in mind you were away over the winter, you have achieved and worked so hard to get where you have so quickly. I think COVID forced many people to re-evaluate their lives, for me it was retiring early! A beautiful name for the house, a great way to remember your dog. Everything about the interior (and exterior) is just awesome. I love your choices. Enjoy your new home, alongside your traveling of course! x

Congrats on your finished home. I absolutely love it! Inside and out!! I could totally live in that! I thank you for taking us on this journey and letting us see everything from start to finish. As exciting as it was to see it all coming together, it’s nice that you can now relax and enjoy your little cabin. What a great base to have when you aren’t out on the road. No reason you can’t enjoy both an rv life and sticks n bricks life. Congrats again!

U could put Plexiglas on your porches so u can enjoy them in the winter. The radiant heat is very nice in winter! The shower in Bill's bath is sweet! The cabin is very cozy. The barn door added ambient to it too! A home base is a good touch especially if we have another epidemic or if one of u were to become sick for an extended time.
Great idea!! We may end up doing something like that if we end up spending much time here in the winter. It's mostly going to be April- the beginning of November. We know we will come back some in the winter, but not sure how much yet. 👍
What a great idea! I wonder if I can add removable plexiglass to an existing screen porch for winter?

I know you are right. He would have loved it. Of course, I wouldn’t have had to worry about him running into a bear cause he never got more than a few feet from me. If he ran into one, so would I. 😂😂
I sold my big home in Buffalo in 2020. Solo senior I just knew to do what I could immediately.
I bought fixer upper cabin deep in the woods near Letchworth. Almost done. Doing it all alone and by hand. Simple but comfy. I'm 69 so it takes all I've got. My cabin sits back from the road but over a hill to a creek below. My woods are virgin. Never been logged. Trees are a good 100ft more. Very thick forest.
Your place looks very nice. Floor heat! Wow. You spoiled yourselves! Very good! Enjoy!
Mother Nature evicts me each winter. I'm a mile in down a rough single width road.
I bought a Class A and explore America all winter. You're now snowbirds!
That sounds right-snowbirds. We love the Letchworth area. I bet your place is absolutely beautiful. I wish ours hadn’t been logged off, but it is what it is. Yes, I think the floors going to be great. We mostly put it in as a way to keep everything from freezing while we are gone. But we will probably come back in December a few times too.
Storage for blankets, bedding, winter clother other stuff is like RV's pop up bed. Best thing i have ever seen on storage but i have to have a Queen sized bed. We should all, who are in our silver years be allowed to aged out with such a wonderful home. Tks for sharing.❤

Amen sister, I have one of those on the back of my house too. My husband thought I was crazy but he did it for me anyway. I just love that sound, reminds me of days long gone. Now I'm hoping that my grandbabies will remember Grandma's old slamming screen door 🥰
It really does. Bill thinks it’s funny to yell, stop slamming the door every time I come outside. 😂😂. I hope mine do too.

Love your new home. I think it is a very good idea to have a home base for any needed medical issues or surgeries in the future. RV living is great but a home is best for comfort with illness! I pray you both stay healthy but I lost my good health almost 8 years ago and can no longer travel but I so enjoy watching peoples travels on TH-cam! Thanks for showing us your new home base!❤
Thank you. We love it. We are so glad we did it cause you’re right. We knew that full time rv living wouldn’t be sustainable indefinitely, but we actually thought we would find a place to settle as we traveled for a home base. It’s so funny that we ended up building not far from where Bill grew up.

You have done sooo much in just over a year and the house looks amazing, it's been great following you from the very start. Bill is so talented playing around with ideas for this build, Alfs dad was an architect and its very rewarding. Love the view from the road, it's gorgeous and I do love the name you called it and why you called it that. Haha DeAnna I love the slamming doors! Love the porch too where you can have morning coffee. Your kitchen is beautiful and I love the stove and hood. The slate shelves in Bill's bathroom were beautiful and so was the concrete floor. The living room is gorgeous too and that brew station is great 😃I really liked the barn doors in your bedroom and your en suite is so lovely. That is fabulous, a real dream house like you said and now you have a home base that you can come home to : ) ~ Anna 👍

My hubby and I served as chaplains at Tip O Texas RV Resort in Pharr, Tx for 2 seasons. Loved it.

So nice that you now have a home base. Love your design plan for the cabin. It's perfectly practical and more than spacious with the two enclosed porches. Seems like such a peaceful place to linger in the spring and fall. My friend lived in Corning some years ago but the winters were a little too cold for her. Stay safe as you travel and hopefully you can find some artwork along the way to bring back to your wonderful home.

We love it. You guys are definitely going to have to come up and spend some time with us. You can stay in the guest room or in the RV site. There is a lot to do in the area.
I must agree, it truly is a dream cottage!! Stained doors? You seem to enjoy the unfinished look therefore enjoy it until you want to change it up and then consider the stain; it looks spectacular!
We are really considering the clear stain to preserve the look. We are told that with the clear stain, it will darken a little over time, but it won’t turn grey. But like you said, we don’t have to worry about that right now. We will probably stain the outside with a clear coat before we leave, but we won’t do anything to the inside until we get back next year.

I lost my summer cabin home last year in the New Mexico forest fire! It was my dream place in the mountains, a place my husband and I build over many years. Even though I am so broken hearted I want to rebuild and looking for an easy small cabin with a large front porch.
Your place looks affordable! We still have our water well and septic . Finding a builder will be our problem!

So sorry to hear about your cabin in New Mexico. We would be heartbroken too. Hope that you find a new builder, and one that can bring your new home in on or below budget. Ours came in right on budget. It’s the interest rates that are really high right now.
