Man Ryan. You would be the King of the Forest with a portable Mill. Save your back n knees 🙏🏻. Kinda like when you were iffy on the small man cave cabin build being so used to n loving the tent life. Now you love that refuge when it’s to cold for your old bones. Get that mill cheapskate. We all want to see ya healthy so the Ringworm Journey keeps going. Thanks for sharing King 👑 of the Ring !
@@cubsadventures2172 He also said he'd never build a cabin. Priorities change as life does. I've lived in the UP long enough that what I enjoyed when I first got here is very different than what I enjoy on my land today.
Regarding the ridge beam... Why not use a log from a small diameter tree that is cut to length and shape that to your needs? Isn't that how they build log cabins? I am also no expert. Your way is probably best no matter what it is. You are the man having all the fun.
Thanks for giving me a reason to wake up early on Saturday again. This beats Saturday morning cartoons! BTW I think I smelled a tree-hugger in Ringwood today. Grin
Here every week, just like so many others! 🚀❤️🙏 Every time I see you mill up an aspen I'm always so amazed by how clean and beautiful the wood looks... awesome color and it looks incredibly dense. Wish I was close enough to drop off my milling setup for you to borrow for the bigger trees! Logosol F2 and a husq 3120xp... bought it to do similar things on our land (5 hours away, Adirondacks) but plans change and the poor things have been sitting in my garage for a year with one use... 🥺 I look forward to being in the forest full time. Until then, thank you for allowing me to live vicariously through you.
I’m always happy to see the latest installment from Ringworm pop up on Saturday morning. I had to be same issue as Ryan with laundry at my cabin. I got a portable washing machine and have been happy with the results. A Jackery will power it but it takes about 15 gallons of water to do 1/3 the load I can do in a regular machine. Saves me a lot of quarters and unpleasant trips to the laundromat. Thanks for the video Ryan!
I always figure that if I'm WATCHING you cut these trees on You Tube you probably survived... or else it wouldn't get posted. Anywayyyy.. love this video, watching the whole process... from finding the right tree, cutting it down, trimming it up, making the planks.. and BAM 💥... A Cabin. It's all magical ✨️.. well, that and hard PLAY. Thanks for bringing us along. PS: Thanks also for turning off the "smellavision" feature. 👍
Try a shorter extension cord for your circular saw it should work better and last longer. I know that battery chargers don't work right with long cords and I would think the same applies to other corded tool that draw a lot of voltage. I really enjoy my Saturday morning Ringworm thanks for all of it
Okay so you're not a rocket scientist everybody makes a few miscalculations all in all you made me laugh right at the end laughter's always a good thing.
Ryan, Ryan, Ryan...For someone who proclaims that they don't know what they're doing....You do a damn good job! I absolutely love watching your videos as you keep me laughing and entertained!
Fantastic job with a myriad of different camera angles - and great editing. A lot of work and time involved filming solo. You’re really keeping it interesting!
I’ve been using the same Makita circular saw since 1986. Paid $99 on sale at the local hardware. It squalled one morning that Winter on an early 14 degree morning. That evening after work I opened it up and packed the bearings with grease and since have replaced the cord and brushes several times. Using Diablo thin cerf blades the last few years. It rips through lumber.
I realize I'm a week late. But set up a spread sheet with the formulas to calculate your angles and cuts. Take the measurements, plug them in and your off to the races. Just a thought. I hate reinventing the wheel over and over. Enjoy watching your process. Got me thinking I'm going to have to do this one of these days.
Beautiful lumber again or is that as always?? Either way, nicely done again anyway...No doubt that ridge beam is plenty stout for the future roof. Another Saturday Morning, nice hot cup of Tea and The Ringworm, what a way to fire up the weekend, thanks Ryan for making the weekend start so great !!
I remember you joking in an earlier episode not to ever hike the AT - it will ruin your life! My friend and I are almost finished hiking the PCT, and I know exactly what you mean now. There’s many of your videos to catch up on!
I job shadowed somewhere and had the opportunity to go to a forestry company that hired a professional drone operator for surveillance. His gear was like 2mil (South African currency - Rand) and they’d use it for a similar purpose. Very cool stuff.
I know you like chain saw milling, you use the circular saw and found it saves some wood, that's why band saw mills are popular, the band saw blade having a thin kerf save a lot of wood.
Monday I attended a Estate Auction. And I bought a handy tool. Its a gas powerd circle saw. A Homelite XL 100 gas engine skil saw. I was thinking about you using the battery powered saws. If you had one of these you would use it. We made a auction video on our channel.
Ryan! You have made so many awesome things! And finally a cabin! This is great. I guess i went in the opposite order because I was afraid my tent would get trampled. I love your stuff brother! 😎🌲
Good start on rafters Ryan👍 Will it be high enough for your loft? Might be warmer in the winter sleeping up there? Not totally sure of your plans or just storage!!! You sure work some long tough days cutting, pulling logs to where they can be cut up and then load on your trailer to be hauled back to area you cut them for boards per what u need then haul to cabin site. Then back to building!! Sure enjoy watching your channel 👍 Stay safe! B Deacon Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦
2 slabs that you cut use those for steps on the house or cabin !!! Came and slept on that swinging log bed you build Ryan that was where I was in the night time !!! HAHA !!! Now that log 2 1/2 ft that would make a great side for a bed in that cabin !!! Or deck boards for the all around deck make it a 10 ft all around with over hang of 10 ft also so you can get cooking on outside of the cabin in the summer time !!! Just a thought for you !!! Can always add on to the cabin with that 10 ft already there so You got another room there !!! The World's an ORYSTER GO FOR IT Ryan !!!
MAN YOUR BUILDING FAST . love how much wood your milling up . be nice to see it done before winter hits . at least the roof and walls any way . but not really to worried seeing how you have the man cave . but you know this one is going to be warmer . after a cold day in the wet snow it will be nice to have a warm home to come in eat and pass out in . work safe brother .
I know having a board in the middle of a room would kinda suck but you might want to make one just for extra support for the roof just to be safe if we have a bad winter heavy snow won’t bring down the roof
Your videos are getting hella interesting. Keep up the good work. Tomorrow's my day to mill lumber for my tent platform. I'm going to be expecting slot of mistakes so, yeah, the platforms going to be off the ground two and a half feet on one side to five on the other, it will be a challenge but I'll push threw like I do.
Your Aspen trees there must be a different species from the Aspen trees here in Colorado. The bark on ours are white soft bark, almost as white as Birch trees. Very interesting!!
RYAN, Amazon has a outdoor shower wand and pump, I know what your thinking, that pot of water over your head works just fine. But it would conserve on water and think of the fun it would be to spray under your arms? Enjoying the videos keep up the hard work.
You were armpit sniffin' your shirts...I had to laugh. Get yourself a 5 gallon bucket, a toilet plunger, some detergent, and water and wash them yourself right there. String up a little rope between 2 trees for a clothesline and you're set. I've done this while camping and it works great. Put the shirts in the water and detergent and plunge the hell out of them...they will come clean...rinse and add softener if you want. Try it!
I would maybe put a slight twist to the roof as in not quite flat. The lumber you use won't care and it shouldn't even be seen. It would be just a little lower on the short unsquare side. When I typed unsquare it corrected to unsure.lol
Wow you did good with getting the tree down by the new build I did wonder why you didn’t take it down in the first place but hey ho, you make it all look so easy but that’s your skills, impressive xxx
Thank you very much for today's instalment of the project If things were always square then where would the fun be in being creative and making things to suit your mind frame at that time Love watching your problem solving 😊
I'm waiting for the day Ryan debuts his new chainsaw with a 36" bar and 6' extensions for his mill rails. Can you imagine the size of the lumber? We'll all look back and decide that his previous milling was milling for ants! Ryan- "Today I need another 6x12x18' rafter for my outdoor pool hall build. Let's see if I can get 2 out of this small slab.."
You could make all of your rafters as long as needed on the wider side, put them all up, snap a perpendicular chalk line on top of them parallel to the cabin wall, at a depth you want for your overhang. Then cut the excess off the rafters at the chalk line.
Man Ryan. You would be the King of the Forest with a portable Mill. Save your back n knees 🙏🏻. Kinda like when you were iffy on the small man cave cabin build being so used to n loving the tent life. He’s said it a million times that he had no intentions of ever buying a portable mill that he enjoys using a chain saw mill.
@@cubsadventures2172 He also said he'd never build a cabin. Priorities change as life does.
I've lived in the UP long enough that what I enjoyed when I first got here is very different than what I enjoy on my land today.
If he got a portable mill then he'd need a bigger tractor or something to move the biggest logs to the mill
It will never happen. Ryan won't sell out.
I wish everyone would just let him do him.
Thanks so much for taking the time to change the angles for the camera view, even when you are just taking a walk. Great video... always entertaining.
Not gonna lie, watching your videos every Saturday morning is one of the best hours of my week :) Thanks
Well!.....I was hoping for more content on your channel! It's almost like you're working on finishing your cabin! lOl! :) 😁
Nothing is like coffee and a new video
Some times we just like trapezoids better than boring old squares…much more interesting! 😎👍
Dawns here 🌞we can hear a sharp Chain. I believe in great Maintenance! Your work ethics are impressive. On your time!
Please longer videos longer videos PLEASE God bless stay safe. ✌️🇨🇦
Saturday morning of milling and coffee. What a great way to start today
That biggun is for all your furniture!!!! Oh, soooo nice!
Great landing... No matter what 'they' say, You're a 'good feller'!!! 🤣🙃😂Nice lumber and roof ridge beam!
Happy Labor Day Ryan! May your labors continue to keep you entertained
In 8 or 10 days i watched all your videos from 1 to 99 :) I didnt turn on TV for last 4 days, just watching you how you build :D Great videos
Yep, that roof is gonna be special.
Am I the only one that winces when the back swing of the axe/maul comes close to the lense? 😀
Regarding the ridge beam... Why not use a log from a small diameter tree that is cut to length and shape that to your needs? Isn't that how they build log cabins? I am also no expert. Your way is probably best no matter what it is. You are the man having all the fun.

Ryan is doin stuff. Thanx Ryan.
wow...i can smell the forest as you cut...i love a woodchip dust bath too...better watching you get it thou...thx man
Here every week, just like so many others! 🚀❤️🙏

ditto, minus the milling set up.
love it... when you referenced the "highway" i laughed

They also make human powered washers and spin/air dry the laundry:)
Love my spin washer, it takes 5gallons to wash and spins almost dry.
your drone reminds me of a si fi movie that will go un-named about speeders flying thru a forest....
Hey Ryan great channel, you need a sauna soon after a long day of chain sawing. You and Tito are the best
I always figure that if I'm WATCHING you cut these trees on You Tube you probably survived... or else it wouldn't get posted.

If the cord is warm, it's too small. And, rule of thumb is to go down one size in wire gauge at 50 feet and two sizes at 100 feet.
Great job Ryan.
this is my life Ryan....thank you very much...........lol
Ur our Comedy Video Ryan. Go man Go
Hi Ryan I have starting watching your channel and every time i watch always interesting this is a large cabin you are a making well done my friend .
Longer Bar on you Chainsaw, and a portable Bandsaw mill, you'd be king of the tall trees.
Skarf joint for the ridge beam.

I so love Saturday mornings at the "worm" Going to my cabin tomorrow for 10 days, can't wait to be in the woods again!!! Amazing.job as always!!
Crown up on that ridge beam!

loves these videos. they make my saturdays
Mornin..👋😎👍

I love that you make your own rules 👍
Great video. Your channel is one of the few I watch all the way through. Keep up the good work.
I remember you joking in an earlier episode not to ever hike the AT - it will ruin your life! My friend and I are almost finished hiking the PCT, and I know exactly what you mean now. There’s many of your videos to catch up on!
Am I the only one enjoying the entomology? I immediately started researching spruce bark beetles
I've manufactured composite beams. A few useful procedures to make yours stronger. Use stainless screws and Titebond glue in between, then screw up.
Man u got that drone down lol & place is looking awsome thanks 4 another great video good luck & god bless
I love your Chanel man. I think your my spirit animal 😅 have fun!!!:)

I see a lot of future furniture tbh even countertops
the way it bows is the way it goes
Holy smokes I'm lovin your videos!

That was an awesome drop Ryan. Right where you wanted

The Ringworm "town" sign. Population 1. Maybe 2. No more than 3.
6 min in best video ever
I know having a board in the middle of a room would kinda suck but you might want to make one just for extra support for the roof just to be safe if we have a bad winter heavy snow won’t bring down the roof
I would make one side of the roof, rafter extra long any way. use it for storage, I'm thinking rain barrels.
Do one side real long and then he's set up for a screened in porch.
You could do some really trick Japanese joinery for your ridge beam connection if you have to do it in two pieces
Your Aspen trees there must be a different species from the Aspen trees here in Colorado. The bark on ours are white soft bark, almost as white as Birch trees. Very interesting!!
Yes me too, please many more
You are such a cool dude👍🏻
lets go!
Excellent Ryan! You are doing a great job!
Another great video. Thank you
Coming along nice!
There can be only one!! Does anyone else notice the ressembalance to Christopher Lambert? Laughs like him too
RYAN, Amazon has a outdoor shower wand and pump, I know what your thinking, that pot of water over your head works just fine. But it would conserve on water and think of the fun it would be to spray under your arms? Enjoying the videos keep up the hard work.
From where we're at it looks great!
I look forward to seeing your adventures every week!! Keep up the great work!
Looking good 👍
Nice ridge pole! Rafters, not trusses eh! Looking good! You need rafter and collar ties! Ron PTL USA
You are very intelligent
That ridge beam looks heavy.
You should pay your helper more..lol.
You were armpit sniffin' your shirts...I had to laugh. Get yourself a 5 gallon bucket, a toilet plunger, some detergent, and water and wash them yourself right there. the steeper you do your roof the better, you wont get the snow load problem. if you are really worried double up some 2x4
I would maybe put a slight twist to the roof as in not quite flat. The lumber you use won't care and it shouldn't even be seen. It would be just a little lower on the short unsquare side. When I typed unsquare it corrected to unsure.lol
Wow you did good with getting the tree down by the new build I did wonder why you didn’t take it down in the first place but hey ho, you make it all look so easy but that’s your skills, impressive xxx
good morning.... sorry I'm late.... I'm on acation... woke up late
Rockets and Ringworm. Saturday complete.
Thank you very much for today's instalment of the project
If things were always square then where would the fun be in being creative and making things to suit your mind frame at that time
Love watching your problem solving 😊
Good job!
Upper!!
In celebration of his next episode (#100), it’d be nice to do so with him getting a bandsaw mill.
I bet you could get several interesting solid body guitar blanks out of that Y section to sell.
42:30 a good trick is to take an old laptop and put a new ssd drive in it, they run super fast then
It looks like you need some support studs under your ridge beam posts
hay watch it with that ax man!!!!
You could make all of your rafters as long as needed on the wider side, put them all up, snap a perpendicular chalk line on top of them parallel to the cabin wall, at a depth you want for your overhang. Then cut the excess off the rafters at the chalk line.
How large is your property? I'm always amazed at all the trees and areas you show.
Maybe see if you can square up the ridge beam to one side wall. Better to make 17 custom sized rafters rather than 34. Just an idea :)
