You have become my Saturday morning cartoons. This 46 year old Michigan boy looks forward to Saturday mornings watching your video and drinkning my coffee. Thanks for the videos and being a goofy ass!!! Keep surviving ringworm ...
There are other channels most of us watch besides yours and over all I can count on seeing one of your videos on a set time. Your loyalty to your fans is like our loyalty to you channel, and yet again thank you.
Love your vids, Ringworm. This probably sounds weird, but i've rewatched some of your vids. They're relaxing to have on while doing chores around the house, kinda like having a baseball game on in the background. LOL
Found you a few days ago and keep watching. I'm a USMC Disabled Combat Vet in the PNW with some land that I am building a garden space on. I love learning different things about chainsaw milling and felling trees. All of it is very calming to watch and helps with the PTSD. Please keep making videos!
Stopped in to give you a 5 star review. I really enjoy my Saturday mornings now knowing that you will have a new episode dropped and ready for me to enjoy with my coffee. Keep it awesome man.
I spent 10 Years learning how to Fell Storm Damaged Tree in Urban Environments, where I was surrounded by Trees, Cars, Power Lines, Houses and every other kind of Infrastructure you can imagine; at night in the worst Weather imaginable and just when I was really starting to get on top of it, I was shifted Indoors to fill Command and Control Functions.
Love watching your vids even tho bittersweet. My brother was killed by a tree he cut that got hung up by wind in another tree and then broke loose and fell on him. He was only 60. Should have been more careful but he was working alone after his partner retired and forgot that there was no one there watching his back. Glad to see you taking good care. I love the gazebo. If it were mine I would string a hammock in summer to take a nap and in winter I would move tent inside Gazebo to avoid snow hassle. You know what they say, "sloth is the mother of invention". Stay safe.
Absolutely one of your best. Very informative on chain sawing, Are you not thinking about making a cabin out of a can’t? Been watching your videos for the last couple years with a smile. Gotta love humor!?!
Hey Ryan, grew up in the upper portion of lower Michigan in the middle and across from Traverse City. Hadn't heard the expression "criminently" in years and never really knew what it meant for sure and how it was spelt. Says its an expression of annoyance or surprise and was coined in the US. I grew up with the word toboggan as well and knew it was a long sled made to go down hills in Winter. Then I moved to Tennessee and down this way they use toboggan to describe a winter knit cap, interestingly enough. Any who and way thanks for explaining why you make the cuts the way you do. Take care and hope you have a great 4th of July and thanks for the entertaining content. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
When I first saw that croch I immediately thought he is going to make a giant sli g shot and fling something. Thanks for the great informative content 👍
Love watching this Tree to Plank to Cabin morph. What a "sweet" vision for sure. Always like when a new video comes out... it means you're not out there pinned under a log, dehydrating in the mid day sun. 😥😩🌲🌲🌲 PS: Liking Sara's input.
Ryan, that was great! Loved watching this video. A lot of good basic information. I'm always looking forward to your next video. Thanks so much for sharing what you do!
I was looking around the Internet and I found a site called flowering elbow. It’s a young couple that has a chainsaw mill like yours but has a very unique way of change sighing. They use a counterweight to help pull the chainsaw through the log. That’s flowering elbow on TH-cam. Stay safe and God bless🇨🇦✌️
I enjoyed this video quite a bit. I'm glad the tendonitis and seizures are not a side effect of watching this show. Honda red is still annoying But I do want one of those fancy headgear
Another great video I can’t wait to see this cabin I will enjoy watching you build it it will be nice for you in the winter maybe you can get that dog keep up the good work super interesting
Bark beetle is the likely cause but that will show just under the bark with tunnels and then sap coming out big time from the entry and exit holes. Thanks, great post. Bob in Nevada
I saw a method for controlling your milling on flowering elbow called "gravity drag" that might be useful for you. I'm going to try it myself in hopes of getting smoother looking cuts. Keep on enjoying yourself so we can enjoy watching!
I've never seen a white pine that huge before.here in oregon would be half those sizes nice lumber..I like this channel a lot.learn a lot n just relaxing.more like the American dream for me.just forrest property in a remote place.
Hi Ryan! Well here I am in bed watching your video. Just had complete knee surgery. I'm really enjoying U building your cabin. U can build anything & U can see U are enjoying it. Can't wait to see the cabin started. Be careful--be safe & God Bless. Phoenix
Please add the front porch now while you are in the beginning stages. It will be a lot easier to do up front. Plus, you guys will have the benefit of a bug free space in the Fall.
nice to see you get ready for a build . you will see how much easier it is to build when you dont have to stop and mill up more wood . hope you have a wonderful and safe independence day buddy .
Miss seeing that tiny yellow bucking chainsaw you had in the first videos for trimming those small branches off. I ended up burning through a few petrol cheap ones and now I use the Ryobi 18 volt cordless that they have in their range and I gotta say the damn thing is impressive. I also ended up buying the new 12 amp Ryobi 18 Volt battery and It goes a long way one one charge at about 600 cuts per battery on that small stuff. Amazingly quiet and because I have a bucket load of solar It costs me nothing to charge them.😊
Really enjoyed watching this complete video. Have you ever made a video that explains how you are able to financially live the way you do. Don’t mean to be nosy; just trying to understand how it is possible, so don’t answer if that’s too personal.
Great video… very informative. I like your technique. TH-cam make experts of all of us, viewers that is, not content creators. I love your warnings. In my day I had one example, my dad and then started sawing and trying not to kill myself. I’m almost 65 now so made it this far. I guess that the big rain was enough to fill up your shower/water totes. Thanks for sharing and have a safe and happy 4th of July!
Ryan, Love to watch you mill. Granpa was a logger from Portland Oregon to Wallowa he worked the logging camps back in the 40's, can you imagine the size in the trees they took out?? Keep up the good videos, I wait for every Saturday...
There's an attachment for a chainsaw bar that is designed for debarking trees. Log Wizard is a Canadian made version but im sure they sell them in the US also. Definitely something you would enjoy 😉
We had a massive teeter totter built out of a log and a big Y from a tree like that in Montana growing up. It was a blast, except for when my brother and sister would leave me hanging 15 feet in the air.
I find I get much more control if my back cut is made at a drastic downward angle to the notch. I've cut thousands of trees and I never bought wedges. That sling shot top was created by the tip beetle. They got a whole field of my Christmas trees before I learned to spray them. I never used a chainsaw mill. I always had a saw mill near by.
In Virginia we are getting Pine Beetles that are killing trees. I don’t know how far north they are invading. The trees seems to die from the top down. I really enjoy your videos and style of humor.
last year my buddy and his wife was clearing their property in the UP. He was not well versed on the proper cuts necessary to control the fall. Subsequently, a huge pine barber chaired, catapolting his wife by the jaw into the air, leading to a devastating impact to the ground. As she bled out from her head wound he frantically tried to save her. He was covered in her blood as she took her last breath. One year later he finally returned to his remote property. He asked me to join him which I gladly accepted. As we approched the area of the accident I encouraged him to finish clearing the last towering pine necessary to begin his cabin build. He looked at me with disgust and said; "HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT !! LAST TIME I DID THAT I RUINED A GOOD OUTFIT."
your videos cover a lot of nice little details like first cut with bathe mill cut with curve up so the planks will be crown up. Also using your battery powered plainer to shave down bumps before making thth next cut with your mill so it doesn’t ride up on a bump and cause a warble in the planks face and distort an otherwise flat plank. This and details on the notch cut and using the line on the saw to aim the first straight cut of the notch to determine where you want the tree to fall and land and when to use wedges. This is all good info.jJust wondering since your in bear habitat do you carry protection to take out a bear if one came along you had to shoot to protect yourself as a 22 would not be adequate in most cases to stop a bear and bear spray doesn’t always work in stopping a bear attack.
Have you considered getting a sawmill? Keeping it Dutch TH-cam Chanel has one that he uses for all his out buildings and siding. Might be an option. Love your channel!
You need to watch Off Grid Homesteading with Boss of the Swamp, his latest video will give you his opinion as to why the evergreens are dying in your area. Interesting, I think you will like it. Can't wait to see the cabin build, then the puppy!
I definitely want recommend you get the diamond back sidekick 22lr/22mag revolver, it's a single double action version of ur wrangler! It is sweet iam getting one asap
three other points for if you're interested in felling a tree... before you cut, have at least two escape routs... and make sure your blades are 'Sharpe' and your bar / saw is for the duty work you want to do. I've watched people attempt to fall a tree with a saw & bar that are NOT made for the size tree they are hungry to cut
**Make a giant sling shot out of that fork in the tree! I enjoy watching your channel. Every time you ask for help I reach out to help, but my magic window is not working right now. Sorry! Q. Are you maxed out on bar length? Could you still install a longer bar for milling? For the exit of your cut, can you install a 3rd bar in the center of the saw frame to help support the saw longer
If your able save 4 large trees and use them for the left and right side as headers and footers going from front to back of the cabin. Start the cabin like 8ft from the end of the issuable wood and use the over hang as your side and top main boards then it’s a floating deck.
I use the same setup with my quad and log tong to move logs. I start going really slow so the tongs grab the log first before I start going forward to far. I try not to jump on my throttle. It's easer on the quad, too...
That lovely fork could be made into super fancy fat ass table. You cut it into two forks, with one plane face and the opposite face just round. And then a very thick glass table. Doesn't sound much like your style, but then, you just call a moment's weakness.
If I remember correctly ( my forgetter has been activated last few years) You cut a more feminine shaped crotch log a few weeks ago. Seems you have found Michigan's version of Matt Dillon and Ms, Kitty. But I never forget your videos are out on Saturdays, Thank You So Much, be careful and carry on.
Ryan, nice video. Looks like text book tree felling to me as it looks safe and their falling where you want them too. Was curious that after you mill the boards out of each tree are you stacking them in a certain way to prevent them form twisting on you. Take Care Brother
@SurvivingRingworm ; Uh, hey there... I was just wondering if you have any thoughts on planting the open areas with fruit trees for future use in your daily diet, even if only to can and preserve as toppings for your French toast? ...or for feed pile for future hunting opportunities? Deer apples Bro.. if nothing else, will bring bigger game. Think deer hide wallpaper / insulation.....
I was thinking about all that big board milling you have to do and was wondering if we'd see you impulse buy a stihl 500i. The thicker bar would be harder to bend too.
Chainsaw Surgeon! Precision cuts “Board Certified” 😷👍
You have become my Saturday morning cartoons. This 46 year old Michigan boy looks forward to Saturday mornings watching your video and drinkning my coffee. Thanks for the videos and being a goofy ass!!! Keep surviving ringworm ...
Dawns here ☀️
I hope with the cabin we see more of the real star of this channel
Sarah's tiny dog that stands 1 inch from the ground

"THANK YOU RYOBI !" Definitely can appreciate that luxury. Great video .
Love your vids, Ringworm. This probably sounds weird, but i've rewatched some of your vids. They're relaxing to have on while doing chores around the house, kinda like having a baseball game on in the background. LOL

Impressive resume. I’m sure like every technical job it takes time and training and experience to become a journeyman.
My favorite video to date! Thanks
The stick in the corner of the Notch is a super hack! Also sorry about your bag in the sap. Yuck!!
Who knew watching logs being milled and turned into projects would keeps us fascinated , Sat after Sat. Your creative process is inspiring.
Rain catchment system seems like a good idea.
Love watching your vids even tho bittersweet. My brother was killed by a tree he cut that got hung up by wind in another tree and then broke loose and fell on him. He was only 60. Great thanks for the instructions now I feel pumped to go fell my neighbours 4 foot oak leaning over his house. See ya in a bit!
Thanks for another awesome video Ryan!
Sling shot sounds fun but I see a really cool hammock chair
Brings back memories of growing up in Mackinac County. Beautiful country.

The fork is “el Diablo”, from all time favourite movie of ours, Romancing the stone. Brilliant xx
12x16 or 10x20 =200sq nice cabin i like watching you build things i learn a lot by watching
Need the nose cone for dragging your logs around brother.
Luv watching your shows I am camping and still watching. Keep up the good work mate !

That was a pretty thorough tutorial on how to cut down a tree. Well done.
Awesome video 👍
So excited to watch this cabin being built!
I think it’s great your finely building a cabin to sleep in and for your girlfriend and I like she has input in your building it for the both of you
Another great video I can’t wait to see this cabin I will enjoy watching you build it it will be nice for you in the winter maybe you can get that dog keep up the good work super interesting
Man..that second tree was huge!
Excellent choice Sarah!
20:00 my vote is a giant slingshot at the shooting range firing metal ball bearings at some targets 😁
Some helpful tips there. Thanks again for all you do.

Mornin! 👋😎👍
Good video, nice tips, experience is a good teacher, the more you do the more you learn (Hopefully) 😝
Don’t forget to plant new trees in another part of your property and let it grow
I love my Ryobi workshop blower! I use it for so many different things. Looking good!
Great instructional video, even seeing the saw pinching at the end. Look forward to every Saturday with the RingWorm. Stay safe

GIANT SLINGSHOT!!
You should try and align your cabin as to use the roof for solar.
**Make a giant sling shot out of that fork in the tree!

When it’s snowing hard or the rain is pissing down and the thunder is rolling there is nothing like a covered deck.

here in New Mexico in the forest we get Pine Tip Moth that turn the end of the needel bundle brown. It is like a worm in the end.
Ryan great video. Do you save or use the wood shavings for anything?
That lovely fork could be made into super fancy fat ass table. You cut it into two forks, with one plane face and the opposite face just round. And then a very thick glass table. Doesn't sound much like your style, but then, you just call a moment's weakness.
Thanks for the links to equipment you use. But... where did you get the log jack. Looks handy.

Have you ever thought about using a sled for in front of the log to pull it to wherever you are working won't let it dig in
You got so much fire wood and if I may ask why don't u use it there is so much wood I would of stack wood to dry and make fire every day
@SurvivingRingworm ; Uh, hey there... I've often wondered why you sometimes use the hand-winch on the mill & other times not.
