My charger or battery had malfunctioned to me too. Lucky mine was still under warranty. The same thing happened to me. That means these batteries they put in are cheap man i knew it!
My second Live 2. the Retro Edition went bad also. I think you are right, the answer is to leave the Live 2 plugged in. Especially if you are not using it for a while. I got this one replaced under warranty and then sold it. I currently don't own a Live 2 and don't plan on getting another one.
I think what no one had mentioned is that absolutely none of the vintage or "Real MPCs" incorporated batteries and had nothing to do with Inbrand Music!!🤔🤔🤔
Damn I hate to hear that man! My carrier bard went out too… only difference is mines stayed frozen on the startup screen after an update! Let me know if you decide to either sell it for parts or if you fix it yourself. I’m outta luck with mine and it would make sense to just key a key37 One2 or a used live for the 550ish I’d have to pay MPC Stuff!
D@mn! Seems that those modern MPC workstations are a piece of s7^^. I still got my 2000 Classic from 1997. I would hate to deal with that MPC Live II when the internal microSD card no longer writes data. Because it does have a non-removable internal microsd card in Live, Live II, One, and X
Yeah, I found the internal microSD card. These modern MPC just aren't making it. What do you think about the 4000? I think that might be the best mix of the new and the old right?
I really hope this does not happen to mine! Just bought mine this summer and had to return it for another one because it had already started to malfunction! I paid too much money for this thing to crap out on me!
@@ameeromedia5883 I'm telling you man I shelled out 14 faces for mine brand new. Haven't had any problems so far but sometimes I go extended periods without using it
@@phatplates Lol, I’m a lady but I feel ya! And I feel so upset. It had a $200 coupon in December but I paid the same amount you did (the taxes). Bought it in July 😡😡😡 I have to stop buying equipment in the summer!!
This is the reason why every time I know my shit is about to go out of warranty. I say it’s broken and just get a new one and replace the warranty on it. You have to do it every 2 to 3 years.
I had to unplug my live II during a update before. I guess the wifi dropped and it wouldn't connect back it was saying 0kbs...lucky enough it didn't get to the phase of verifying the file is fully downloaded and didn't start applying it yet. They should make it to where you can only update plugged in.
They were both vertical so it wasn't on top, If I remember correctly. I haven't touched the Retro MPC Live 2 in a minute, I better make sure that boy is still working. I only mostly work with the older ones now. The MPC 1000 is really moving up on the list lately.
Man...I hate that happened to you bruh...you might want to make sure the surge protector didn't allow a surge to come through that fried both the unit and the power supply. The only other scenario would be the power supply going bad and frying itself and the unit...sounds like you have checked everything else...hope that helps.
Bro that same shit happened to me it died while I was on discord live just shut off and would not turn back on. I called everywhere trying to see if I can get it fixed. Nobody had pieces or any parts of any sort because of Covid everything was backed up so I cried about it left it alone for about a couple days I went back to it. I press the power button and it did turn on out of nowhere so what I did was just brought it to Guitar Center traded it in and got a new one at the same time my unit is giving me issues with the screen so I’m about to send this one back because this is ridiculous
Man I had the same problem with the power supply barley used me mpclive to I order a new one plugged it in and push power and it cut off with having battery life on it.. and I start smelling something so I unplug. Now it don't come on...and I'm out of warranty with Sweetwater.. what should I do? Please help me
Solution : please akaï choose a removable batterie solution. At home we remove it and plug the MPC to the wall and when we move we can put it back.. It will be the ultimate banger
People dont know how to take care of their products... you see how he was holding the retro ... turning it on by accident while talking, not even noticing
Apreciate the comment. I'm an Engineer and I own about 15 MPCs btw. Just sayin. I've literally had my son bump one of my MPCs off of its stand and it still works like new. I've had plenty of user errors and complications, this was definitely now one of them. th-cam.com/video/zGn4Teakf6w/w-d-xo.html
It does. Then I bought the retro edition Live 2 and it died in 9 months. They fixed it under warranty and I sold it. th-cam.com/video/OqKqlcNiW6w/w-d-xo.html
Your MPC Live committed suicide when it found out that you bought that MPC 3000😂😂
Ha! it go insanely jealous and ended it all.😀
I had no idea MPCs were frying
Thats crazy for $1400

Akai or In Music Support sucks!
I have the same problem I haven't figured out if I want to sell or buy a new charger. The MPC works as longs. As it is plugged in.

That’s unfortunate. Glad you’re up and running again.
Mine says invalid serial number and all the buttons are dead.

Mine all the sudden won’t charge. Right as 2.15 update comes out.
Same thing just happened to me fam I could only use it plugged in. I sent my live to MPC stuff just got it back yesterday.
Congrats! How much did the repair cost total?

That adapter is begging for mercy
So did you fix it?
Nah, we still outta there. I just bought a broken MPC One. I'm trying to make one good MPC out of 2 broken ones. We'll see.
So if the battery goes out it won't work even if it's plugged in?
Only when plugged in.
You got your power cable bent to all hell.
Check capacitor
Which one? Where is it located?

I agree. I have an external battery for the MPC One that seems to be working okay.
