      To Mic the Vegan:
      A lion eats meat. So a lion has the natural anatomy of a carnivore to eat meat. The lion will not eat a salad, maybe a lion might eat a little bit of salad but even then I do not know. I am not a expert. So it does not matter what I say. A bear eats meat, a bear eats berries, a bear eats honey, and a bear eats fish. So a bear is similar to a omnivore in someway. Now remember I am not a expert, so I do not know for sure. But humans must kill another human in a self defense situation sometimes. That’s natural life, some carnivore needs to eat meat to survive. But I am just guessing, I do not know. If I say I do not know, I do not know. It does not matter if I am a hypocrite or not. That’s my problem, not everybody’s problem. Also some people will not care what I do in the first place. Also some people do not care what you think. I do not have the natural control over that, even if I wanted to. Some people resist me anyways. So you and your group of vegans are on your own.

    What I would like to know is how much of Bryan Johnson's life is taken up by all this activity to do with longevity. Does he do anything else other than something related to staying younger-looking? On the photos, I think he looks like someone who spends a lot of time on his appearance (plucked eyebrows, for instance) and if he spends so much time researching what he can take next or avoid to stay young, how much time does he have left to actually live? Also, I think quality of life is more important than length of life and the two are not mutually exclusive - eating a vegan diet, exercising and at least trying to get enough sleep will contribute to both a longer life and a better quality of life, leaving plenty of time to do things a person actually enjoys doing. Perhaps Bryan's idea of doing something he enjoys is all the stuff related to longevity - like regular hobby, in which case good for him. However, unless this is your 'thing', it seems to take away from quality of life rather than enhancing it.

      Yes you are right (kind of). There's genetics, that's how predisposed you are to say cancer, and epigenetics, that's how genes switch "on and off". So you could have a 90% chance of getting cancer (genetics) but reduce it to 50% with diet and lifestyle changes (epigenetics). So like most things in live it's a decision based on each individual's personal cost benefit analysis of behavioural change.

    Thanks for the video, Mic! Very nice. Bryan Johnson says in an interview with Tom Bilyeu that he is vegan by choice. He did not say he eats a vegan diet because of the health benefits, but because he chooses to. So from that remark, I would assume it is an ethical choice, although he does make exceptions (collagen, fish oil). He also says that he is eating a special kind of olive oil that is very rich in polyphenols, he explains about his selection of foods in the interview with Tom as well. When asked about sunscreen he just let's Tom ramble about the dangers of sunscreens, and he does not go into useless discussions. And every time Tom ridicules him and insults him, he stays super calm and polite. I agree with Bryan: we live in a society that celebrates self-destructive behaviours and ridicules the opposite.

    1) 2:30 - He did a behind the scenes video that photo shoot of the blood swap. It wasn't actual blood in the pic. Although, one thing I really like about him is that, as you mentioned, if something isn't showing demonstrable improvement to his health, he drops it. That's an important point that I think a lot of people are overlooking in his case.
    2) 3:40 - He recently upped his caloric intake to ~2,200. With extra EVOO. (see #4)
    3) 5:00 - The list on his website of the supplements he takes could be outdated. He has said that the list is subject to change a few times that I've seen. Also, I don't think he started talking about being vegan until after this list was published. I think if he has switched to all vegan supplements, he should definitely update the list, though.
    4) 5:35 - He's added additional evoo (which is where the extra calories come from it seems). Also, he talks a lot about the quality of evoo needed to achieve the desired health benefits. He does source EVOO from "both hemispheres" to try and obtain the best in the world. You're very right it's so difficult to get high quality product, so he's posted on his website the quality qualifications needed. He's also going to be coming out with a "Blueprint EVOO" in a few months for people if they want a reliable source.
    5) 6:40 - He goes into detail of why macadamia nuts are the superior choice in some of his videos. He also does walnuts and almonds in seemingly smaller quantities than the macas.
    6) 7:20 - Do recommend a good multi? Would love to get all of these things in fewer pills. Currently, I've been taking about 7 different supplements he takes - although, I make sure to find vegan brands - many times they are less expensive compared to his recommended ones.
    7) 8:20 - He does take ACV with the super veg meal. I know it's not classified as a probiotic, but it does help with gut health, of course. So, maybe they've found a way to maintain good gut health without a probiotic? Would love your take on that.
    8) 11:01 - So, back to the first point. This could be an out of date recommendation, or just something the doctors he works with came up with, but not what he takes personally. I also know he has said in the past that he is vegan by choice, but blueprint doesn't give any recommendation one way or the other about veganism. So, for what it's worth, I think he is vegan for ethical reasons. Maybe he's spiciest against anchovies, though. I am against cockroaches. I will step on them. lol.
    9) 11:59 - The testosterone patch is because he's deficient without it due to his caloric restriction. Now that he's upped his intake, I'm wondering if he's discontinued the patch as well.
    10) 14:41 - Dr. Sinclair recommends a vegan diet and flat out says meat is harmful to human health despite not being vegan himself. So, I think he's a great person to point to who meat eaters wouldn't be able to claim is biased who knows how harmful eating animals is.

      If some organs age at different rates, isn't that just the age they rate at? Making it normal?

    • @Father_Veteran_Gamer_Artist
      @Father_Veteran_Gamer_Artist ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jes7119 I didn't say it was abnormal. I'm just stating that not all of your organs are the same "age."
      using retrospective radiocarbon birth dating, researchers have shown that no matter a person's age, the liver is always, on average, less than three years old. The liver has a unique ability to regenerate after damage - however, it was unknown whether this ability decreases as we age.

    • @jes7119
      @jes7119 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Father_Veteran_Gamer_Artist I think it's a matter of semantics. If you're 30 years old then your organs are all 30 years old. The aging process may have a different effect on them due to their biological make up but they're still aging the way they're supposed to and they've all still existed for the same amount of time. I see what you're saying though - it's a very interesting concept.

    As a transgender woman, whenever someone mentions the life-extending benefits of estrogen, I cackle. I've had so many people tell me HRT will shorten my lifespan, and I'm like "evidence suggests otherwise." I should start telling people that the real reason I transitioned is just because I'm REALLY committed to heart health.
    Also, nothing against Bryan, hope the mostly vegan diet serves him well. Personally, I think emphasizing a healthy vegan diet, quality sleep, and regular exersize is going to be a lot more achievable for most people and get most of the benefits

There isn’t even consensus among medical experts when it comes to administering synthetic estrogen in women going through menopause even though women’s bodies are meant for estrogen. There are risks and not every woman who experiences menopause chooses to use hormones precisely because of those risks. There are no research studies that I’m aware of about the long term effects of synthetic estrogen on on someone who was not born female.

    I looked up sources of Lithium, and it seems to be in everything anyway - cereals, potatoes, tomatoes appear to top the list, along with other fresh fruits and veggies, meat and dairy included as well.
    So the rate of increase in cognitive decline is probably - as said many, many times before - due to living on too many processed and ultra-processed foods.
    If any people here have a garden or even a balcony, the very best forms of food are to pick berries straight off fruit bushes that you grow as organically 'as possible' and eat them fresh.

    Hey-- I think you're totally spot on for a lot of this. I get your entire philosophical debate about the fact that people, like me, who are encountering real-world non-millionaire life-problems can't afford it. But on the whole, I think you could have been just a tad more positive about the fact that this guy is showing even the rich mofos that hey-- even pretty-damn close to vegan (in a healthy way) is so much healthier than whatever the F you're doing.
    Here's my reasoning: vegans think a lot of social problems/climate change/income disparity/food insecurity is due in no small way to the idiotic misuse of resources to grow meat which impacts neither health nor the planet positively. And here's some guy that maybe some of the other rich idiots might listen to, because in his world, he's telling them that even if I spend $2 million a year to eat this way, it's better than whatever the fuck you're spending your millions on (yachts, etc)". Which in my mind is the equivalent of a vegan saying "yeah, I'll spend $14 on that same entree without meat than the $10 dollars you're spending and the $4 dollars you're saving by that meat dish that it makes no sense costs more."
    Maybe if he shows his rich frikkin friends that this is better by whatever insane logic his friends are using, they can change. At least that's my opinion of what he's doing.

      No one can do anything about climate change it's part of nature. Remember the dinosaur age, they were wiped out because of climate change. We were not there then, now it's our turn to witness it. We had the ice age which will come again We will not be around so spending his money on climate change would be a waste of money.

They recommend contacting the brand to find out if they test and/or grow in a non-contaminated environment.
