  • I've had this Bulova A-15 for two years now. The price has plummeted from $695 down to $310 dollars in that time. Is this now an extremely affordable way to own a piece of aviation history?
    My honest opinion is found in today's video.

    Definitely, whatever you do, do not like and subscribe. (maybe reverse psychology will work.)
    Check out my unboxing from two years ago.

    I've owned mine for almost a year. I love the unique design and am drawn to pilot style watches. 42mm is perfect. Anything smaller with a dial this busy will be hard to read. My only complaint is the rotating bezels easily get moved out of place. I would have gladly paid more if Bulova made those crowns at 2 and 4 screw down. By the way that last part of your video was hilarious!

    Nice vid, like always, thanks for that! I like the watch, I´m really into BIG fliegers 😀 because it´s very masculine art of timekeeping. The retail price approaches to reallity. So, go on!! 👍

    Even after you pointed out the negatives I really do like this Bulova A-15, the biggest downer for me personally is that ALL the dimensions are on the large size, if only they made a smaller version...stay safe

    • @halfpastblog
      @halfpastblog  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Me too. Some designs surpass the inadequacy of individual parts when you put all together. A smaller version would by welcomed by many. But if you ever get a chance to try it on you may find it wears pretty well for its size.

    I recently purchased this watch and I love it. I don't have the same issue with the rotating chapter rings and I don't mind the movement, but I got it for $307 after tax and shipping so it didn't feel like I was ripped off.
    I liked the original strap just fine but I did replace it with a single pass distressed leather that is super comfortable and leans in to that WWII look.
    I do notice a rattle in the movement I think is coming from the rotor that I'm going to have checked out.
    Thanks for the long term review! Your videos are definitely higher production quality now than then.

    • @halfpastblog

      Thanks for the feedback, Michael. I wonder if yours, being newer, has an improved bezel. Maybe they added a bit of resistance over the first batch. I'd be interested to hear from other owners.
      The Miyota 8000 series has loud rotors for sure. They spin and spin. Doesn't bother me, but I listened to too much metal in the 80s to be able to hear it well. 😉

    • @Michael-ee4uz
      @Michael-ee4uz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@halfpastblog there is definitely a little resistance. The rotor noise itself doesn't bother me, but when I tap the glass with my finger I can hear it rattle.

    yes one of my favourite watches, there's no other watch that I know of that has two bezel compressors, and very useful also when travelling you can keep time zones and 24 hours timing, functionally good

    Nice! If your looking for another pilot watch to checkout look at the Citizen Canadian Snowbirds sky master AT. The red and blue coloring is stunning and I picked it up on amazon Canada for a great deal off of msrp. It's not exactly a cheap watch but it's got presence. She's a bit heavy at around 180g but luckily it's a strap monster. When I want to lighten it up I put it on a blue suede strap from straps Co and it looks great while cutting the weight in half. I don't have much use for the UTC dial buts it's solar and radio controlled so it always keeps great time and its built like a tank with 200m WR. As a fellow Canadian I just taught its something you might want to check out. I love your coverage of Canadian watch brands btw. 👍

    Great “long term” review 👍! I’m a Seiko dive watch guy ~ (solar powered if possible). I like Auto watches, but their accuracy straight out of the box in comparison to Quartz is is is just not a comparison. Auto/manual watches truly suck in that respect. But, hey, Maybe not everyone needs or wants a higher level of time keeping. I have a Seiko “Turtle ~ Save the Oceans” blue auto that is just beautiful. I got in off e-xzsy for under 300 clams. It’s a solid rugged watch I wear almost everyday. I even wind it everyday, in hopes that a fully wound watch might keep better time, beautiful dreamerrrrr….
    I like this Bulova, but I don’t believe the crystal or watch would hold up well on my wrist. I used to work for a living, and non-dive watches just couldn’t survive. Now a days, I’m just clumsy, and constantly knock my watch into walls, doors, and other hard objects. The dive watches seem well suited to take this type of treatment. I do have a hankering to get some other style, this A-15 is a good looking watch. I also like the Hamilton “Murph’s” watch. I like the look, but the Murph’s is just too pricy for my wallet.
    Thanks for the video, it was good 👍😎.

    • @halfpastblog
      @halfpastblog  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the feedback. The A-15 crystal is sapphire, which is as scratch resistant as you can get. But the polished bezel would get all beat up if you work with your hands. Plus it's a bit thick. I prefer slim and light field watches when working with my hands. That's just me.
      Thanks so much for writing! 👍
