    I bought the MOST popular standing desks on Amazon that sell for under $300 to find out if they are any good. Two of the standing desks I tested I would probably pass on, but there are three I can recommend in this price range. Let's find out if $300 standing desks are good for you, or if you should look at a more expensive option.

    Wow great video. I bought a standing desk on Prime day this year. It's already in the mail going back as after i put it together the sturdiness was just not there. it had a wobble and a shake. It was $200 CAD ... The one i got was a Motiongrey. said it would hold 250lbs but i couldn't seem to not wobble with two monitors. I'll stick with a regular desk lol.

  • @VictoriaRodgersK

    I got the VIVO earlier this year and it's actually amazing. Yes, it's a hair slow going up and down and the lack of collision detection could be an issue for some. But for my use case, it was definitely the best value. It cost me $280 for the 60" at the time and I've noticed a huge improvement in my overall productivity in being able to stand. Regardless of which desk you choose (or if you just get a topper), I think it's a really good investment to get something that allows you to stand.

      @@btodtv found a used unknown model that's fairly solid for a good price. Main downside is it does this thing where it might randomly choose to go down in the middle of trying to lift it.
      BTW, I suggest talking about EF in these things. A proper desk should completely kill power to the motor when not in use. What I'll do is mount a power switch right next to the height controller and manually kill it between uses.

    Good video! I'd actually be interested to see if the electric desk frames only would generally provide a better value at $300 since they don't have to supply the tabletop. At least that's what I'm looking for currently.

      @CanYouEditThat My interests are unique in that I want an l-shaped standing desk frame. I recently purchased the E2L from Flexispot since it was on a significant discount. Haven't assembled it yet since the l-shape has additional challenges. But hoping to finish it soon. Customer service wise, it's not the greatest. I'm trying to find out if I can reverse the orientation of the second leg to better fit my office space. They said yes it can and the technician will contact me. That was a while ago and I inquired about it again and they'll call me later in the day. Still hasn't happened.

    It seems like you like the Flexispot the most but other than warranty, isn't the Monoprice better on stability (you mentioned best in group) and features (4 height settings)? Are there any other differentiators?

  • @masterofpuppers7963
    @masterofpuppers7963 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a similar fezibo that was a lot cheaper than the one you showed, has a solid keyboard tray, 4 piece black and wood grain top held together by 8 boilerplates and the frame is dual motor, almost 70 lbs without the top. It doesn't wobble at all, but I used real tools to assemble it. The only similarity is the flimsy cable management tray.

  • @FarishKashefinejad
    @FarishKashefinejad ปีที่แล้ว +71

    I bought an expensive flexispot desk and the cable tray only has holes on one side. I contacted their customer service and the first person gave me the wrong installation guide. I contacted them again later on and they told me to drill the holes myself in the metal of the cable tray. Nearly 800 dollars for a standing desk. I will never buy from them again just because of their poor customer service.

    I'm looking at these desks because of the adjustability. TBH I don't give a rats ass about standing, but being able to adjust a desk +/- several inches for different types of gaming/media would be a huge plus. For the past few years I've been rocking the ikea butcher block on top of 2 ikea drawer units and that's worked but its not adjustable unless you shim it up, but there's times where I wish it were just like an inch or two lower, and times I wish it could be an inch or two higher.

      That's my one issue with a lot of these cheaper desks are the size options, lol. For me, it was the desk length I disliked a lot, as I want at least 55 inches, so that I have the length for a 24 inch monitor from my workplace, plus my workplace laptop, plus to store my personal laptop, and the desk will be used for college homework and leisure writing. I found what I needed with Fezibo (55 inches long by 24 inches wide. I would've like it to have been a little wider, at least 30 inches, but then I would've had to go up to 60 inches long and that's just too much). I am worried about the sturdiness now though and if the starting height will be okay, now that this guy said it's a bit high, even for him (and I'm 5'7). My desk hopefully will arrive this upcoming week and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I really like it 😅

      You can mount them where you choose, but we haven't had a lot of issues with people breaking switches. It can happen though.

Mine isn't listed here but both my wife and my desks have adjustable feet to add a couple of cm to the bottom, I also added felt pads under them too. You can also just replace the tabletop with one you prefer that's thicker, just take into consideration the weight of the tabletop and the desk's limit.
      It seems like most companies state a weight limit but this doesn't include the tabletop that comes with it, best to ask the supplier if you can.

    I recently bought a standing desk. Unfortunately wide-screen monitors don't work well as any table movement causes the screen to jiggle. None of the standing desks that I've seen have a solid enough support system to prevent this. Even getting a monitor arm that attaches to the desk, will result in the same.

    • @11collier11
      @11collier11 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might need to invest in monitor arms that are attached to the desk. Most stands are barely able to hold the monitors nowadays. At my old office they went to all standing desks and monitor arms were definitely the best idea to go along with them.

      Uplift desks are the best ones. No shaking whatsoever. They have the C frame for exactly your issue and their T frame is stable as well. You can get commercial versions of either frame shape too if needed.

    Why do we even need electric raising? What's wrong with a manual crank handle? You typically only go up/down once a day, cranking if good exercise and would be much cheaper and less to go wrong.

    • @TheSunshineRequiem
      @TheSunshineRequiem ปีที่แล้ว

      U r pretty much right on regular work days or for ppl who don’t wfh, I typically stand up for every hour that I am sitting down, some ppl do it more frequently, cranking is gona stink for ppl who spend long hours at the desk, but I agree it’s enough for many ppl

    Just keep in mind that Amazon screws customers. Its usually far more expensive on Amazon and a lot of the reviews are probably fake anyway. Most of these were over $250 and I have one that is almost identical that I got for $170. Also I have only sold one thing on Amazon and I only did it because I had just bought it for $25 and I sold it for $100. I almost went and bought another to sell on Amazon but I didn't fell like screwing people over.
