Almost every TH-camr with a desk setup has a desk shelf to “get the monitor at a good height with additional storage” while I’m too short for such functionalities😂
Oh noooo haha
Hey at least you save some money lol
Its really unnecessary imo plus most of these shelves or risers are super expensive for what they actually are. Im pretty sure if these youtubers doesn’t get it for free or worse sponsored by it they wouldn’t even consider it. Dont be swayed. Save your money!
@@WNCHSTR I managed to make my own, fraction of the cost and could make it the exact height needed, but agree that for most it might not be needed!
Haahahahaha same
Lots of humour in this one eg "monitor arms elevate your setup" 😅. Keep up the good work!
I recently purchased an adjustable monitor arm and it has made a world of difference on my small desk.
(and the piece on standing desks cracked me up!)
Sweet, it's such a good upgrade! And haha good, it made me laugh filming it (you should see the outtakes 🤣)
+1 for the keyboard!! i hate it when people think mechanical keyboards are just built for gaming, i honestly think people who work in corporate or have to deal with a lot of spreadsheets/documents would benefit greatly from a comfy typing experience. e.g. when i used my mum's cheap office keyboard my hands got tired way more easily while writing my papers
Could you do a video purely about your cable management setup?
I’ve used a sit stand desk soft about 18 months and love it. I don’t stand for a long time, but it really makes a difference. I also bought a stand mat. A real game changer, and supports your feet and ankles. Otherwise, my desk is pretty similar to yours, although I don’t have a shelf.
Love these! Thanks for making them! 😊
such awesome additions, gotta pick up a few myself, great video as always Tom! showing off the stuff you love in your office is so important!
Thanks man!
Thanks SO much for the idea of a desk shelf! It's such a simple addition, yet so many people overlook it (myself included). I'm getting a smaller one that's more of a monitor stand with some storage space underneath, but it's only $39.99 and looks great! Excited to get more usable space while still being able to accommodate my 8" deep Samsung M8 monitor stand. 🙌🏼
Excellently presented! Loved this video
11:20 UNO always ends up in that “junk drawer”/“drop zone” type place 😂
Haha yes!
Great video, Tom! 😊
I'm also a big fan of the Logi MX keyboard and mouse; very pleasant to use! 👍
Do you have a link to the iPad vesa mount that you added to your monitor arm? That intrigues me. I have mine on my Magic Keyboard next to my computer.
So good thank you
I actually fell very nice by watching your videos
I'm thinking about starting my own company and your channel is a *massive* inspiration
You should do it, working for yourself is hard, but it's also so worth it 💪🏻
FYI: before buying a monitor arm. Check the thickness of your desk because your desk might not be thick enough to mount the arm.
great point!
Best desk setup ive ever seen
HUGE fan of Slouch's chairs - just got mine last week for a new studio setup.
They’re good stuff aren’t they!
Appointment viewing! Another great one Tom!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
i really love this video
I picked up the Logitech lift a few days ago and I am really enjoying using it.
I tried that mouse but it ended up making my wrist hurt! A shame cause it looks so nice on the desk 😍
You're too underrated, man. You need way more recognition. Your setup has given me a lot of ideas for my desk.
Third
Where did you get your ipad cases from. ??
Thanks
The SQUIRTLE keycap! OMG! 😍 I have a blue NuPhy Halo75 V2 on the way and that would look great on it.
Definitely some great recommendations and amazing job breaking it down! One product though I can never get behind is the MX Master 3S in white. I recently picked it up and despite having fairly clean hands (over use of hand sanitizer), it seems to discolor the mouse quite a bit after a few days. Went back to the trackpad but I think we need a good competitor to the MX Master 3 in this space.
Yep, mine does this too. I use some wet wipes on it and it gets rid of most of the dirt super quickly. But yeah, far from ideal
how do you swap your peripherals from Mac to pc and vice versa?
how did you get 2 arms for the monitor though? What you linked is 1 arm. Sorry am not familiar with this and would love the functionality of 2 arms instead of one :)
Also, it’s a great idea to make sure your office setup is safe especially for earthquakes and fires!
Upgrading your keyboard is awesome, I built my own keyboard, and it sound exactly like I wanted to, and it just make me want to type the keyboard a lot more. It also makes you better or give you more fun by typing faster which makes you more efficient
So I agree, great video
I think I need to make my own this year
@@ByteReview I agree. (I suggest an aluminum 75% board with the vertex v1)
Agree with the standing desk wobbles. If you really want that flexibility, you’d have to buy proper office-version ones that have big stable legs that have support bars across or just settle with moving every now and then to stand without working. My desk in the office has that and does not wobble even at my height (5’2”)
Hah, my favourite tip at 10:58 because messy is my whole personality, some days i can't even see an inch of my 2m long table cos it's filled with things LOL
Nice video! Have you considered a keyboard wrist rest for the Nuphy Halo 65? I mean, specially for those long sessions.
I tried one and it just felt weird so I don't think they're for me!
Dope ass video Tom. Pretty much all the same for me too dude. I wish I could find a decent stand for my iPad mini 6
Thanks! You know I’ve never looked for a mini stand 🤔
Slick video as always...what backpack was that in the beginning please?
Thanks! Nomatic Luma
When are your new wallpaper packs coming, they are so good man?
Ahh thank you, we are always working on new ones so keep your eyes out!
@ByteReview where did you get that Squirtle keycap?!
dwarf-factory.com/product/pokemon-artisan-keycaps
Do the slouch chairs have headrests though? Find this helps a lot with posture.
They don't! I haven't tried one with a headrest before tbf - are they good?
Do u have any recommendations for a med student who just usses his ipad , iPhone and books. I have a window in front of my desk but I only have overhead lights and they cast a shadow on my books at night what should I do to counteract this?
Edit: I hate lamps 😅
Can you move your desk/room around a bit?
@@raycheshire5581 fixed to the wall attached to the window
what about you use the overhead lights ?
@@JustAL2004 they are at an angle so at night they cast a shadow over my books
Ah, poop.
Why don’t you attach a magnetic whiteboard to the stand you use for your iPad? When your iPad is on the stand you can use the whiteboard right next to you to write your to do’s on.
Wher did you buy the keyboard holders? Love the video ❤
The pegboards are from IKEA but I had to get the holders from Etsy :(
@@ByteReview can you link the store ?
Strange question.. can I ask your desk height? Always feel like mine is too high, its fixed but I could alter it with a bit of effort
Can you do a comparison between Samsung dex & stage manager
That would be interesting but I don’t use Samsung for anything sadly
what mouse pad do you use?
Linked in description 👌🏻
Where did you get your coaster?
It's one of my own! kirokustudio.co.uk/shop/icon-palette-coaster-two-pack/
@@ByteReview thx!
💯
It is unfortunate that so many of the sit stand desks that most folks get are so bad at the standing part. I’m in the US and here folks tend to get garbage desks from Fully and Uplift. Sitting down they are a tiny bit wobbly but at standing height they are terrible and folks think sit stand is a bad idea. You have to find a desk that works well at standing height. I have found deskhaus works well but again I am in the US so don’t think that helps a uk audience. Great video though.
Thanks, sitting on mine is great but standing is a mess :(
Tom posted a new video! me: CLICK
🖤
Can I use your studio color (green) in my setup 😄
Of course
@@ByteReview thank you Tom
Probably a better question to ask him is what the paint color/panotone number
I personally think that for creators that are on Mac, the Magic Trackpad 2 and the G502X are a MUCH better option that the MX Master. The MX Master, and other MX/basic Logi mice have very bad polling rates and accuracy. They're *fine* but getting a mouse that has a high polling rate and a gaming grade sensor is a much better option, in my opinion. It's just a very expensive option, so an MX Master will always be a good enough device to get by on.
I need to check that mouse out, heard so many good things about
Keychron m6 is a better mouse than mx master imo, more complete features, superior sensor and connectivity options, the lighter weight is a lot more comfy for long time use too! Not to mention it doesn't have the rubber aging issues as well as the unfixable staining issue on the white/ grey models (which was really turned me away from the mx master 3s) while being about half the price...The upsides for the mx masters are the more premium build quality, and probably some of the software features with the logi software, but it still doesn't justify the high price of the mx master for me...
Oh sweet, going to check that out now!
@@ByteReview Love ur vids as always! Keep up the good work!
Step 1: Monitor shelf
Step 2: Get the monitor off the shelf
don't buy anything! use what you have to get your work done
Nothing wrong with making do!
@@user-tj2xj9re7lthen don’t watch them lol.
@@benanciopineda9374 i only watch cuz i am bored. I respect Byte is doing a hassle with the links and sponsors cuz this is a job for him. These videos could inspire for some. but for me i have all i need. jus saying to have common sense and determine if you need a device and stuff along side it. Also doesn't have to be "mainstream" and get whatever in your budget. alright have a good one cuz my typing is lagging.
@@JustAL2004no I was talking to the other post that was complaining about this content, as if he was forced to watch it. You’re comment is fine, it’s a valid statement.
Lol it doesn’t have 65 keys, its a 65% layout :D
I’m an idiot 🤣 thanks for the correction
Having the monitor in front of the window is not ideal - from an ergonomic standpoint.
gessh i have my setup at a window. can't move it as of now
Yeah no. I ain’t spending 600 usd for a chair i can get off Amazon for cheaper.
You don’t have to lol
I've been working full-time as a Software Engineer for over 14 years, working from home the last 5, and something I realized is that desks, and even external monitors, are incredibly overrated. Give me a fast laptop and I'll be flying. I'm equally efficient from the train, a park, a cafe, and office, while my coworkers are instantly and noticeably crippled being away from their multi-peripheral setups.
its so stupid to put the link in the comments instead of linking it to the fcking reel
gorgeous work as always Tom 🧼
Thanks for stopping by dude, appreciated 🙏🏻🙏🏻
