    This video really helped me use my livescope settings properly. I did a youtube review showing my set-up where I basically put it in a cooler to make it portable. I LOVE the livescope but you really have to know how to use it. It's not always video game fishing but often helps you see where you are located in relation to the structure so that you can target fish without spooking them. I LOVE IT.

    I have the Livescope on my new boat with a 12 inch Garmin in the front and the 10 inch garmin by my steering wheel for side scanning . I can say it does as advertised. I only use the emerald blue color as I have found I see fish more clearer. Setting the gain is what’s important to me. I’ve had the thrill of not only watching crappie get my jig but bass jump out of nowhere when I’m running a chatter bait. Good stuff

    Does it help, hurt, or make any difference as far as having clear returns on whether I have the transducer mounted on the port or starboard side of shaft? I have mine rotated from factory recommendation so my prop isn't wearing a hole in my boat cover. I still have it rotated for forward looking. Thanks.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doesn't make a difference. The main thing is just clearing the head of the trolling motor. I do the same thing with my prop and have the Perspective mount on there with great returns. I will say that I had a pinched cable from my install and my picture was messed up from that but it's been replaced now and works great.

    What a great video that answered lots of questions that I had! One question I still have is after a few hours of fishing (kayak) with live scope sometime my screen will suddenly appear different, kind of like you turned the gain down about 30%. I can shut the unit completely down and when it powers back up it will be normal but only for a short while. Could this be heat related? The black box is mounted under my seat but not in a box so it is getting lots of air flow, Texas summer air flow.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ours will do that at times too. Usually all you have to do is pan it around to shallower water and it will ping better and get its signal back. Something about it losing it's ping shooting out into water (like in forward mode) and not getting a return it like dims everything out for a second.

    Fantastic! I just used my new live scope for the first time in SW Florida, where I was making long runs between spots and noticed my voltage was dropping from the power draw. I did not know how to shut off the transducer, so thank you, thank you! Curious, do you run a separate, dedicated battery for your livescope black box?

    Just wondering if you have ever had this trouble, there is always one waypoint i have to where the picture just comes back terrible. Like gain goes down a lot is what it looks like. But pan around or change direction and it starts clearing some. It will do it everytime i pull to that exact spot

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. It has more to do with the angle of the bottom and the hardness of the bottom. If it's a lot of really hard rock or its on a steep slope, you are going to lose a clean single. Generally speaking, Livescope reads better in open water and softer bottoms and becomes more distorted on harder sharper edges.

    What about bass fishing with a crank bait? I have only been able to see my crank bait once with livescope. I'm not talking a small crank bait either, usually I am throwing a DD22. I have tried these settings and they work perfect for me minus seeing the crankbait. Usually I set the range out about 50-70 feet and I am trying to hit brush in 20 feet of water (tops about 12-15 feet). I usually keep the brush about 40-50 feet away from me

    Is perspective mode the primary tool to use in 5 feet of water or less? Can things like side imaging still be useful?
    Also, for future show would love the same type of tips for finding bass in deeper water. Would you use live scope forward, 2D, or side imaging to locate schools of bass.
    Thanks, Frank from Virginia.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, absolutely you can still use side scan, 360 and other technologies. Forward looking real time imaging has limitations because the transducer is pointed forward and down, so if you get in shallow water it's not going to be able to see but a foot or two in front of you because of the cone and angle. We have lots of videos on finding fish with down and side scan and 360 imaging on our channel. We have a lot more coming with different LiveScope modes. We're looking for schools while we drive on the big motor with side and down imaging and then using LiveScope to pan around and find the fish and cover while up on the deck casting. Side Scan doesn't work well when you're up on the trolling motor, just like LiveScope is meant to be used on a trolling motor and it's not a great idea to have the trolling motor down while driving a boat with the big motor.

    Nice video !! I was wondering if you are in let’s say 17’ you put it at 19’ .. now let’s say you move into 10’ but it’s set at 19’ still ! Does it matter or will the beam just stop it the bottom regardless? I get why in 20’ you wouldn’t want 10’ because you’d only see half the column ..

    Question does the live scope transducer continue to stay in the on position when my 93V unit is off? If so how do I install a switch just for the live scope transducer?

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You tell the transducer to not transmit with a setting on your units. Any of them networked can set it to not transmit. You can install a switch between the power wire and where your terminate it.

  • @tablerockkid8237
    @tablerockkid8237 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for a great lesson! Appreciate it so much. One question - does putting the sonar unit in 'sleep' mode stop the transducer from transmitting? I.e. does that eliminate the overheating issue? Thanks again.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It does not. The unit it sleep mode does not stop the transducer from transmitting. However there is a setting on your livescope menu to turn off transmit. When you do this you essentially sleep your transducer too. Good question.

    Same rules for perspective mode?

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, but Perspective is really about seeing in shallow water so with that you will probably have your gain turned down a bit more. That's what I did with it. I was able to find fish in a foot of water all the way up to the bank. So it's pretty amazing watching a fish swim by 50 feet in front of you in a foot of muddy water.

    • @BassFlatsBeyond
      @BassFlatsBeyond 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wired2Fish please define shallow. since I mostly fish okeechobee, my definition of shallow might be different than yours.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BassFlatsBeyond Livescope works good in water deeper than 5 feet in Forward mode. Shallower than that and it just can't see out very far in front. So they turn it on the side so it can see out further. I was finding big shellcrackers this spring by getting in the backs of creeks on Kentucky Lake in 2 feet of water and then sweeping and looking 40 feet out in front of me and finding their beds to catch them. So I could see 40-50 feet in 1 or 2 feet of water. With forward view on Livescope in 2 feet of water, you would see maybe 5-10 feet because the beam is narrow and angled down as much as forward.
