      I used the Prolite for basecoat and the tekna clear gun for the clear. I have the dv1 clearcoat gun and I'm thinking of doing a review on it and a demo so I'll see what I can do with that.

    Good video mate!! Which air cap and fluid tips you use on the tekna for basecoat?

    • @paintyourbody8098
      @paintyourbody8098  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! I'm using the te20 air cap (high efficiency) and the 1.4 fluid tip. I'm spraying at 19psi and drop it down for the final coat.

      If it is done in a shop it can be pretty costly $5000.00 roughly and that would be on the low end. If you have the equipment to do it and know the steps to take you can save yourself a ton of money!

    Looks like you have a Devilbliss clear gun. I have the same one I’m have trouble with orange peel. What is your inlet psi,fan setting and materials setting? Also what tip and cap are you using? Thanks for the help.

      Hey Tim thanks for the great question. I've been thinking I should make a video on this. I wont get too technical but the climate and clearcoat matter as well. Aside from that I have tried all the set ups this gun has to offer. For my style of spraying I like using the 1.4 fluid tip and the TE25 high efficiency air cap. I recently stopped using a regulator at the spray gun and set my high end air pressure at the wall regulator. The wall regulator is set to around 42psi. About 10psi is lost through the air line and another ten psi by the time it reaches the air cap or nozzle if the dowry gun. Simply put I am spraying at about 28-32psi at the gun inlet. The higher psi with the 1.4 fluid tip helps atomize my clear better and with out putting it on too heavily. I do not go for the "glass look" because that's not factory. I also dont want it looking like my refrigerator either. These settings work best for me. Fan almost all the way open and fluid 3 turns in from all the way backed out.

      Hey thanks for the detailed info. I’m new to your channel and I have been flipping cars for awhile but some of the I buy have some scratches on them i’ve just completed an 18 week course at my local community college and I have purchased most of that tools to be able to spray cars but I need to refine my skills before I try to fix anything on the cars so I’ve been doing a lot of practicing and I have my air pressure set up just like you suggested but I just don’t have my inlet pressure quite as high as what you’re using I’m using the same tip in the same as you are using I just need to try my pressure a little higher thanks for your reply I look forward to your new videos

    How much would a paint job like this cost

  • @aqn1976
    @aqn1976 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Obviously Black pearl is more expensive than metallic or jet black but does it "appear" to stay cleaner longer than the typical metallic/jet black which if you own a black car seems like its needs a detail every other day :-)???

    How did you finish off the pillars to get an invisible join?

    • @paintyourbody8098
      @paintyourbody8098  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I applied a clear coat blender that melts the new finish into the existing clear coat. Sometimes a quick sand or buff is required.

    What PSI do you use for paint and clear?

    • @paintyourbody8098
      @paintyourbody8098  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the slow response! It depends on the spray gun you are using and what material or paint you are spraying. Generally cleaecoat is sprayed around 25psi and basecoat around 20psi. Thats how I set my air pressure when I spray.

    What brand of clear coat do you use?

    • @paintyourbody8098
      @paintyourbody8098  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was Axalta (Dupont) clear coat. I don't recall the number on the can. You can use almost any brand clear and get great results! Watch for the proper activator that is suitable for the current temperature.

    • @paintyourbody8098
      @paintyourbody8098  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont melt the sealer edge. The way this sealer sprays is really smooth. The edge is never visible. I'm not the biggest axalta fan but the sealer does spray really nice and smooth.

      I think i put that in the video but if anything it is a kia forte. Unsure of the year but the black pearl for kia is limited and most likely easy to find. If you still have trouble I can do more research and let you know.

    Ever use an iwata

    • @paintyourbody8098
      @paintyourbody8098  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have and iwata is in my opinion probably the best guns out there. Nevermind Sata (awesome guns too) but iwata is hands down the best. That being said I am partial to devilbiss and the great results I have gotten from their products. The price point makes it even more attractive. I dont think I co sider them an under dog but I have always stayed away from the mainstream and strived to get the same results.

      Devilbiss makes great guns as much as I am an iwata guy
