I absolutely love your videos! The text at the bottom answers my questions in real time. Love the marker on the masking tape for the blend and tip of using spray reducer from a can. Just brilliant all around. I also like your tag line- "Don't overthink it, it's just paint."

While watching the vid I was thinking to myself that the subtitles were really helpful and that I was going to comment on how helpful they were. Then I get to the end of the video and find out that you did it all on purpose! Great job, Brian! Once again, an amazing and informational video. That blend melter on the A-pillar looks to be the answer to a question I had regarding not having to clear the entire rear quarter since most cars now have an uninterrupted paint surface from the A-pillar all the way back to the rear quarter. Being able to blend the clear to the factory clear and melt away the dry line is freakin' awesome! That will save me a bunch of time/money on repairs!

    • @PaintSociety
      @PaintSociety  4 ปีที่แล้ว

It will. I’ll make a more detailed video on it. It’s a touchy repair because blending clear is not warrantied.

Someone recently gave me a lph400 with the lv4 aircap. How does the lvx compare? It's my first iwata and I gotta say I really love how soft it sprays and atomizes. With the cap aligned the fan doesn't spray straight up and down though, it's a little crooked. So I just turn the cap a little to compensate. I wonder if a new cap will fix this or if I need a new needle and fluid tip.

I Agree with everything you did on this job, except, blending the roof panel with clear blender. Over time, the UV’s, will breakdown that edge on the clearcoat, and it will start to scale back. For full warranty on paint, box the whole panel in, with clear. I know it’s fifteen years old, but it will last another fifteen years. Please, don’t hate me for my view on this, but I had to battle insurance companies on this, to give a Life Time Warranty, on paint work. Love the channel, and keep up the great work!! Thanks Jim.

Love your channel and all the videos! Just painted my 76 VW Bus I been working on for 4 months; thanks so much for all your tips!!
Do you think you can do a video about mishaps? Like when my gun was having droplets come out of it after I stopped pulling the trigger, sometimes even in a stream? Or what the mix should LOOK like, after mixed, whether it be base coat or clear...et cetera. Also, I could only get about 20 psi with my 20 gallon compressor set up, and, especially with my clear, don't think I was laying it down hard enough to get that glassy finish......whereas with profesh such as yourself set up you just whisk whisk whisk because of all right variables, whereas back yard guys might have to move gun much slower and closer? Unless I am incorrect
So many things master such as yourself take for granted would help noobs

When you are blending further and further back with each layer, do you spray the clear and paint on the last layer of each onto areas that you did not sand or scuff. If so how does it manage to stick, and if you did sand or scuff, how do you bring out the shine? Thanks for the video.

I couldn't find in your videos something about blue pearl so i write here.
I have some Monte Carlo Blue Pearl s2000. I am having really hard times to paint the bumper right. After the 5th try i was thinking i got the right match. Looking from above the hood is almost perfect match with the bumper. But when i go in front of the car the farther i go the whiter the bumper is . In sunlight is not so strong. I can see it more in artificial light. I don't know what's wrong . I am thinking i sprayed too much pearl or the angle is not the same as they did the bonnet and the fenders. I am very depressed with this car. I can't enjoy it anymore..

    Great channel/info.
I'm in need of some advice. Getting ready to DIY paint my 06 Scion TC.
I was gonna rattle can it, but decided against it. Now I can't decided if I should get an electric paint gun or an air compressed gun. (I'm not looking to spend much, but also do a decent job... so I'm looking for the happy medium)
Any tips on either options of guns.
Also I'm wanting to know what is a good quality paint and clear coat. I was looking at a Laquer Jet Black and going Enamel clear over it. Would that work? I don't have a paint booth and it's obviously cooling down outside. I do however have a Morton building I can pull the car into for a somewhat sterile and warm enviroment.
So what Base product do you guys recommend and what clear coat (all I'm finding is laquer clear and I don't want gas drips destroying my kids car. You know how 16 yr olds don't think about this stuff)
Anywho.... Tips are much appreciated.... :)

Urethane is the best to use. Stay away from laquer as they just don’t perform well
Get yourself a 33 gallon compressor and you can at least do one panel at a time without breaking the bank.
