Great video , again😂, Brian, I am going to be starting to paint my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 club cab, It’s a maroon color and I already did my hood by following your advise and it came out fabulous! Now I ‘m going to start with top cab top. Is there anyway I can send you a picture of it and have you tell me the different steps? Example might be, in one video you used a roller to put on a base to cover up any bare spots, The top is in bad shape and I’m not sure how far it needs to be taken down. The hood I got from the pick and Pull was in pretty good shape meaning not all the clear coat was gone but I did remove it all and did a primer over all of it then sanded it down and then tack and base coat then 2 layers of clear coat. So, another question might be, When is a Pearl used?
To me you are the king of pearl white repairs! I know how hard it is to get the right colour. Right now i have a 1984 Suzuki Katana Popup, which has unfortunately three different shades pearl white. The easy way is to pick one colour and spray all parts equally. How should I proceed from one original part and deternine colour from that? Are the pearls going to interfere with a colour scanner? Will I need to blend anyway to match the original part? Next project is the gold parts, I'm already sweating in my sleep to get that right. ;-)
Hi great work and video. I bought new truck wanting to learn to paint pearl star white AZ on plastic pieces. What is best way to paint match and what materials do I need? I know you have to spray a adhesion promoter, primer, base, top coat pearl and clear. How long of time between coats etc. Do I use activator or not. Thks
I love your video, I’ve been learning a lot from you. I have one question, how would I blend it to the doors, would I lay base coat and the mid coat half way of the door ?
So I recently bought a 2019 Infiniti Q60 and I somehow overlooked a spot on the passenger side fender, dead center with the the wheel well. To me it looks like they were doing some scratch repair and completely forgot to finish this one spot 😂. So that kinda made me not feel as bad for not seeing it when I bought the car bc they missed it too lol. But they sanded down to the base white and I’m wondering what I need to pick up to fix it myself. I measured the spot and it’s pretty much 6 in x 3 in. All I would need is the colorcoat and clear right? Appreciate by the way 👍🏼.
Spraying a car in black cherry pearl , it’s a direct gloss single stage , I’ve painted the hood and the front fenders, seems to be a little inconsistent the way the pearl is landed , what would you recommend as the technique to spray this color single stage?
I have a GS Lexus with the gold color pearl . As far as I know, it's never been in accident. Why would all four doors be the same color as each other but slightly different than the panels ? Surely they wouldn't mess that up in factory right ? It's quite noticable in direct sunlight, kind of annoying if i think about it too much lol.
I sprayed some pearl back in the 80's but never a touch up job and I sprayed the pearl between color and clear I mixed it in just some reducer and dusted it over the paint job so that I didn't get tiger stripes in the finish

want to re-do, refresh a set of 2001 Audi wheels, with same Avus Silver Pearl (code: LY7J/C2) color. Supplier says this is not a Tri-part application, which I guess means their spray can Pearl is included in the base silver. Current wheel paint damaged from age and chemical cleaning abuse. Some small sections even down to the primer. No room to blend. Have a trunk-spare wheel in untouched condition as a comparative model. Has amazing depth and Pearl affect. Need a planned approach for this project to succeed. Suggestions much, much appreciated.
Do you know of a way to use any auto paint color on a engine? High heat enamels exist but not available for every color code. Will high heat enamel primer allow for general auto paint?
I've got a CA Black plate 67 ford Galaxie survivor I just picked out of a barn and shipped to CO. It has 58k miles and is a 100% original wimbledon white car. The paint has some chips and rust bleed trails and I want to paint it. Would i need to prime the paint if i'm using the original color or can I sand it with 6-800 and get the job done. Also with a car this big can I get good results spraying one panel at a time or would I need to walk the whole body when laying the color down?

I have a question. I have a 2006 gs300 color code 062 crystal white pearl. It looks like it have tiny silver metallics in it not alot very little u can only tell it looks like it has them in strong sun light and even then its still questionable. My ? Is does the pearl have metallics in it or do u think they just added it to the clear when they painted it factory. Im looking to paint a brand new bumpers n front fenders and when I look it up they sell like special tall duplicolor like spray cans for the white and the pearl but I dont see metallics in either and there isnt a special clear when you search it just lists regular spray can duplicolor clears. Do they make clears with metallics in spray cans. I wouldnt think so itd get clogged right. Id buy a spray gun to do it with but I'm doing it in my shed so I'm already worried about anything getting on anything in the air with the door cracked and fan pushing outside from in the shed. I no ur prob like Jesus....
I am sitting with a Lexus GS with 077 pearl white and was going to try and do it myself but watching this makes me wonder if i should just send it in to a pro that is used to spraying pearl paints. Would prefer to just send it to you guys here in Florida.

@@timgiesin4025 I had a 70 Plymouth GTX back in the day, someone had done some of that in the hood scoop area. It was pretty wild looking, thank you Tim for bringing back the memories.
Great video. So, I'm putting pearl over urethane basecoat white and want to add pearl. Is there a particular white pearl I need to use? Is it premixed or do I need to add it to something. Thanks
I just layed down some white pearl solids on a guitar that's getting black pearl next tiger stripes
Hey there. I have a car that was supposed to be painted this Eminent White Pearl Lexus color, but did not turn out quite the right pearl effect. I am planning on repainting myself and was hoping you could help me with recommended products and mixes for this color? Again, very new and great video - would just love any secrets you're willing to share. Thank you.
I have a f150 paint code UG want to paint the chrome bumpers door handles and grill, but using aerosol can spray paint any tips? Thank you
Can you do a video on how to properly spray a tri coat paint?
Looks like the trim above the hood was a totally diffent color on the final reveal
It’s a brand new car and has white plastic on it
@@PaintSociety LOL I was like how did that happen fender hood looked good then I was what the heck
Tony's DIY Vehicle Flips & Rebuilds Tennessee haha yes. These new cars become loaners if they are damaged. But yea I see how that threw you off
Do you have a video spraying paint in some sort of flake?
want to re-do, refresh a set of 2001 Audi wheels, with same Avus Silver Pearl (code: LY7J/C2) color.
Please does bumper needs plastic primer before painting base coat
When u spraying the pearl.u mention u put clear 1st to see if it match..does the clear still wet when u put the pearl?
10.49
Completely dry. It was dry 5 minutes after I sprayed it.
@@PaintSociety woah.. that was fast.5min..i guess there's a lot of things i need to learn..thank you..
By the way.do you have a video that repainted a whole car? I would love to watch it..
Paint Society question so first coat is just regular clear like the one you use to finish a paint job right.
I want two colors how do I get one to shine through the other when the sun or lights hit it
Say I want black but I want purple and gold to shine through
Or white with pink and blue shining through
I’m doing a go kart project this summer and I’d like to know for when it’s time to paint
If you have a oem white paint job that doesn't have a clear can you paint a pearl based clear straight over the top?
If so what would be the best way to prep it?
I’m sorry. I haven’t heard of an oem paint job without clearcoat ?
@@PaintSociety sorry, I meant as in a car with a factory white paint job. The white is straight off the gun with no clear over the top. Just polished.
So you mean a single stage? You would have to scuff. Base and then pearl
Do you ever have yellowing issues?
Loved watching ! I had to LOL my ass off - So I watched amateurs use Rust-Oleum paint with Foam Rollers LOLOL _ All good :)
Does pearl need a specific base coat in order to get that pearlescent look? Thanks
Hy Brian! Awesome channel! I wish as a DIY guy I have that painting System to correct the mixed paint color... It would be nice to buy some base colors to make it match better. Should be a DIY mini kit for that! Keep it up mate! Cheers from Hungary
I remember those days in depending on the paint shop to match your color. It can be tough.
Great job Brian
Thanks ted!
Is there a timeframe I should wait between spraying the white base and then the pearl? And I guess then the clear?
What is difference between paint gun with paint bottle up or down?

Just very scared to send it to a shop and they mess it up too. I am used to spraying but the whole merge and pearl thing scares me to much to try and do it myself. Would prefer to just send it to you guys here in Florida.
Hey Tim. It’s probably get a pro does it. Where in Florida ?
@@PaintSociety Ime in Punta Gorda. On the vehicle it had a small hit on the front right so the hood, bumper and front fender were replaced with OEM. There is a small mark on the right A pillar in the paint where the fender damaged it in the accident. Where is Florida are you based?
South Florida. I think a pro would be best for this !
What size nozzel cap were you using for both base and pearl. Thanks
Im painting my car, and have selected the color ( Which is a flat white ). Is it possible to add pearl without it changing the color tone? Thanks
Hi i am painting a bike fender with base and pearl and clear.
do i need to put hardener in the second stage pearl or just reducer?
i am using PPG deltron 2000 for base and pearl and high line for the clear.
not sure on the ratios for the pearl. Thanks
Hope you can help, I want to replace the hood and roof of my Jetta, I'm trying to find out if my clear coat is tinted or if the peeling clear coat just has paint tranfer on it (peeling clear was the blue color to it). The paint where the clear has peeled off looks more blue, with the clear it has an indigo /Purpleish look to it.
Ite a 2005 VW Jetta GLS Mk4.
I cannot read the paint code too well(something got spilt in the trunk).
I believe the code is LG5V
not tinted just faded
Question why did you do the bumper off the car ???
DIYer got a stone chip and flat spot around the area on my white pearl (bonnet), what would be the best approach to solve it? Andy advice would be brilliant.. Thank you
Красавчик :) Хорошая работа)
Brian. I'm working on Red Tri-coat for 2019 Canyon. The pearl is in the 3rd stage but has red colorize the base red. Do I treat that 3rd stage as an effect and not a wet bed? Light coat not as close to panel? Thx, Troy
Does the spray distance change if you not color matching? Spraying pearl for the first time?
