If you somehow didn't know who Oswald was, that's a personal problem. They mention him in pretty much every special about Walt or Mickey ever made, if only to tell the -lie- "story" of how Walt came up with the idea for a mouse character "on the train ride home." But, I mean... it's close _enough_ to what happened, I'm not really gonna split hairs. My main problem with the game is that it's supposed to be about all the forgotten characters, and aside from the gremlins and Oswald... nobody's really that obscure. They _try_ to pretend like Clarabelle and Horace are obscure, by having Mickey not remember them... like they weren't in the Christmas Carol, the Prince and the Pauper, Mickey's Mouseworks, the House of Mouse, the Three Musketeers, or whatever else aired before Epic Mickey. Okay, so Horace actually missed that last one, but Clarabelle was bumped up to a fully-fledged main character, with heavy Goofy shipping... Horace would have been a third wheel.
The point is, where are Adelbert, Beppo the Gorilla, Chief O'Hara, Colonel Rolf Rolfe, Donna Duck (proto-Daisy), Duffy the Disney Bear, Eli Squinch, Elmer Mouse, Francine "Fanny" Cottontail, Felicity/Morty/Ferdie Fieldmouse (as well as Walter and Lillian Mouse who's names are not canon even if the characters are), Doctor Frankenollie, Gideon & Gertrude Goat, Rumplewatt & Willie the Giants, or Sylvester Shyster? Even Park Ranger James Audubon Woodlore (who isn't too obscure, appearing in the House of Mouse; and even having the Audubon Bay Bridge seen in wide shots of Duckburg, and being a main plot point in St. Canard, is named after him) would have been better than... the cast of Peter Pan? It's a Small World? A dozen versions of Pete (all of which are new, I'm pretty sure)? Donald, Daisy, Goofy? As far as the "forgotten" characters go, it implemented _even worse_ than the barely touched upon morality system.

Well it seems you are a proper Disney enthusiast. Most people that I have talked to have no idea who Oswald is

I think the paint and thinner/good evil system undermined what could have been a great linear platformer. The paint thinner combat is so clunky. Their should have been a stronger focus on set peices and mobility.

I actually disagree with your criticism about paint and thinner objects being hard to intuit. I didn't have much problem with it as a kid. Maybe some objects are harder to tell if you can thin them or not but from what I can remember, those tend to be for secrets which I think is a fine thing for.

I think it was more a problem with the camera and how dark the game is on the Wii. I only noticed it now that I've played the remake so I talk about it in my Rebrushed video that'll be up later today

@@RETRObutionofficial The camera was definitely a big factor, seems to be one of the harder things to nail in that generation.

Yep, especially on the Wii. God damn tiny d-pad to control the camera is awful lol

This is a bold video to be honest, I recently played the demo and have played the original a little bit. Epic Mickey is definitely a good game and the remastered version feels like butter to play. Definitely one of the better remastered Platformers currently aside from astrobot. But a lot of people might disagree with your points in this video.
The only true downside is the original is a Wii only and the motion controls can get a little bit too much at times, but that is more of a me thing than anything else because I don't do well with motion controls. But the remaster is a platform I am truly excited for and the fact that purple lamp is behind it means that hopefully it will still retain everything properly from the original I have played. The demo was fantastic though and I would actually say it's better than their SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom remaster. I might be the only one who still thinks Bikini Bottom might not be the 10 out of 10 every one thinks it is. Cosmic Shake added tissues but I still found that game to be a lot more fun.

I looooove BFBB but it's nowhere near being a 10 in my eye. Cosmis Shake though is fantastic and I think it's better than BFBB.
When it comes to Epic Mickey it feels like it has a load of good ideas but most aren't executed very well. I played the Rebrushed demo and it does feel significantly better to play which will go a long way in making it a more enjoyable way to play it. And I'm hoping for some QoL improvements. I harped on about travelling between levels and how annoying it is but I didn't mention that even if they don't add fast travelling in there's a good chance that modern console load times will help a lot. Thanks for watching

@@RETRObutionofficial hey no problem I enjoy your videos, I'm hoping the remaster fixes a lot of the issues too. The big issue is as someone with cerebral palsy I can't play a lot of Wii games so I can never really play the original game well having the option to actually play with a controller will allow me to actually beat the game for once

@@SoloGamer42 and this is why remasters etc are so important, and it's something most people don't think about. I'm so happy that you'll be able to properly play the game now with a controller. Just curious, do you have the PS3 Access controllers or just use a dual sense?

@@RETRObutionofficial I grew up with PlayStation consoles over most other consoles. I got used to the GameCube controller sort of and never really got a hang of the Xbox controller. So most of the time I use the PlayStation 4 dualsense and occasionally I play Wii games that supported with the GameCube controller. I also play Wii games as long as I can just use the Wii remote.

@RETRObutionofficial See I had a hard time getting into Cosmic Shake. I've always felt that BFBB was always just an okay game with an incredibly funny script. Gameplay wise I'd say Cosmic Shake is stronger but it lacks that humor present in BFBB that makes it stand out. The Demo for Epic Mickey really impressed me and while its been forever since I played the original...it might be that its been so long I'm not going into the game with this high bar the concept art gave...or something else I can't think of at the moment. I do hope the game does well since this is a series with a lot of potential.

I agree. I played Epic Mickey and thought it was cool, but it was so obtuse that I never got very far. It's a fun game but it does not teach you how to play it very well

I'm a few hours into the Remake now and it's so much more accessible. Full camera control and the game being slightly brighter means I can see what's going on and it's easier to find collectibles now. Id highly recommend it so far
