Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D is right around the corner and instead of playing the original before the remake, I decided to play a weird wii exclusive Dragon Quest game to see if it's any good
Came here from the piglet video, and looking at the types of games you cover I didn't really take too long to subscribe lol Now I got a bunch of videos to watch in my free time, thank you
I think the reason dragon quest feels nostalgic even if you haven't played them much is because a lot of RPGs these days are turning away from the turn based gameplay and becoming more action based. Just look at square enixs latest releases - FF15, FF16 and FF7 remake are great examples of this as the series started out as turned based, and it's not just square enix but they have always been known for their RPGs. But Dragon quest has still stayed in that classic format, and the art style the same so it can feel old school while still feeling new.
I have no problem with FF evolving, it has constatnly tried to re-invent itself (even if I think FF16 was pretty bad). But I wonder if FF feels nostalgic to people who have never played it too. Even though they have changed drastically over the years they still share common elements that would make it nostalgic like the battle ending themes, throwbacks to old music and the menu sound effects
There’s a weird Soul Calibur game for the Wii too that’s sorta similar. No mainline game on the console so there’s a strange spinoff that uses motion controls.
Hahaha, this game sounds fun, I only played DQ11 too, but it's such a hard series to get into, for many reasons, such as lack of access on modern consoles etc
Yeah me neither, I played Wii in my sitting room on the big TV when we got it but just for space and price I wanted a small CRT because the big boys are mad money and also weigh like 50kg lol
@ It was a long ago I had CRT. It was when I played on my PlayStation 2 and GameCube but that television was only 50hz (the other televisions I played on earlier was 50/60hz) so if I played on my Nintendo 64 or if I played GameCube games in 60hz the picture on the screen start to shaking. That was very annoying. So that was also a reason I got a plasma television before I got my Wii and PlayStation 3 so I could play all my video games and because I heard PlayStation 3 should work very well on plasma HD.

Ah that's great to hear, thanks so much. I hope you enjoy the videos 👍
i would really recommend dragon quest builders if you have the free time! another great "non-dragon quest" dragon quest game.
They are right up my alley so I will definitely give them a go. Thanks for watching :)
Swords was my first DQ game and I still love it
Have you played more of the series since?

Is it still a fighting game?
Nice touch at the end of the video

This game is Awesome. You have to swing and use your shield it is so freaking cool. One of the best gaming experiences I l've had as a gamer.
It's so unique now
I have never played Wii on a so small television. When I got my Wii I owned a Plasma 1080p 40” television.
